I note that it took three or four cops to subdue one innocent man. And they sent twelve. There’s a lot of information in that vid. For one thing, a single man on a couch can divert a dozen cops.

If it had been a mosque, it would have been like the Occupy episode of South Park where every cop in the tri-state area shows up for two kids.
WTF? Since when has a haymaker been a valid method in restraining an uncooperative suspect?* Don’t they teach cops all sorts of “compliance techniques” for this exact type of situation? Or maybe pepper spray might have been a good option? But throwing down the handcuffs and boxing? F’ing stupid.
If the suspect goes into a fighting stance, that’s when you step back and get the pepper spray or Taser out. Range minimizes the chances of injury on both sides of the encounter.
* Assuming for the sake of argument that attempting to restrain him was at all valid in the first place.
As Lyle correctly points out, the amount of fail and lessons that can be learned from that video are numerous and plenty.
I don’t see TASER guns in the cops’ belts. Does NYPD issue pepper spray? No wonder they went stupid.
