Today’s Lesson In Manufacturing

Via a friend I discovered these two videos on 22 rim-fire manufacturing.  It’s doubly neat to me since this is factory is quite literally down the hill from me.  Some of the regulars at the matches work for ATK as well.

Neat and educational.

Nice. I’ve wondered for some time how the priming was done. I’d heard the cases were spun to distribute the compound into the rim, but could only speculate as to how the metering was done. Turns out it’s very simple, which is usually how things are done best. Now where do we buy those multi-chambered loading dies, and the presses that use them? I’d like to be able to size, trim, prime, charge and seat, each process doing 50 or 100 rounds in one stroke. I guess it’s all just a matter of money. Keeping all that equipment calibrated must be a lot of work too.

Before you try, I already asked them. No, they won’t sell to individuals.
