A New form of Markley’s Law

A friend had this posted on his Facebook.

The stupid, it hurts.  I would say I expressed restraint in my response, because frankly that stupid exhaust filter pisses me right the hell off.

Barron is the owner, editor, and principal author at The Minuteman, a competitive shooter, and staff member for Boomershoot. Even in his free time he’s merging his love and knowledge of computers and technology with his love of firearms.

He has a BS in electrical engineering from Washington State University. Immediately after college he went into work on embedded software and hardware for use in critical infrastructure. This included cryptographic communications equipment as well as command and control devices that were using that communications equipment. Since then he’s worked on just about everything ranging from toys, phones, other critical infrastructure, and even desktop applications. Doing everything from hardware system design, to software architecture, to actually writing software that makes your athletic band do it’s thing.

Yeah, don’t hold back Barron! :-)

Oh here’s an additional rant I was just about to post after she said, “She was entitled to her opinion”

Yup, and I watched my gas mileage tank tonight as the cleaning cycle kicked in on my way home. Went from 19.5 to 15.5. She can have her opinion and I can have mine. (Eats about 15-20 bucks when it kicks on lately).

Honestly all this emissions BS is merely to get people to buy more fuel (which is taxed by the gallon). Considering emissions are entirely based on the amount of fuel consumed, it is a chemical reaction through combustion, meaning atoms don’t just disappear they still have to end up in a molecule. Now by burning more fuel you’ve increased your total output. If we were trying to decrease “emissions” shouldn’t the focus be on efficiency and not just burning fuel for nothing?

Instead I hear about how I’m killing the environment after that same group of people said that should be added to my truck. Instead I hear about how I’m compensating for my penis, which is all so familiar from other debates, which then makes me wonder why I participate in things like ARES, SAR, and other things where my truck does serious work. Because some how a hybrid is better or something… Except when the majority of your mileage is at highway speed. Another one I saw first hand last summer. (Friend had a hybrid and gave the hybrid to his daughter and got an equivalent gas version, for his driving it got better mileage, which was mainly highway.)

Tell me, other than the fact that I’m a good person, why should I bother to continue to officer my help and services to help people, out of my own pocket mind you, when on more than one occasion it’s been some hybrid left in the parking lot by the owners we’re searching for? Why should I help search for people who act so smug? Why should I pull the hybrid out of the snowbank it should have never tried to drive through? (Other than it’s in my way to get home).

Tell me, do you have a 13KW generator hooked up to the PTO on your Prius that can help run a hospital in an emergency if necessary?

She was attacking people different than her because they were doing something that she disagreed with. Tell me, I’m not attacking her for driving a Hybrid (if she does). I don’t care and I don’t belittle others for their choices. Explain to me though why I should be attacked and belittled because I choose to drive a truck? Because to her there is absolutely no reason to own a truck or an SUV, she has no reason to so everyone else must be wrong and be insulted.

      Is that a nice rant?

        Post it anyway!

        • Barron says:

Nah, instead I’m just going to post this:

Someone said my response was typical of someone compensating… No it’s a typical response of someone who’s gone through that first hand. I see her bull shit and I want to stomp it out like a fire.

          • Lyle says:

I’ve been thinking about this for while. What is the proper response to someone like that woman? The best I can come up with is; no response. Ignore her. Let her beat herself up. Do not gesture. Do not even lift an eyebrow or roll your eyes.

That is impossible for some people, yet if you have the opportunity to try it, I think you’ll see that such is the most intense opposition that could be brought to bear against the offender. They’re looking for a reaction, you see. If you don’t know EXACTlY what to do, give them no reaction, and they’re left turning it all onto themselves.

You have to stand your ground of course, and defend yourself when necessary, but someone like that woman is probably no threat whatsoever. She is in tremendous pain and she wants to farm that pain off to you. Don’t take a speck of it. She’ll go plumb crazy and defeat herself, all on her own.

          • Barron says:

I really want to install something on my PTO. My response at that point would be to flip the switch for the PTO and send the engine into high idle, point the go-pro at her, leave the windows up and continue my conversation.

If she strikes my truck, well the police will be called, with extensive documentation for my side I will then roll down my window, confront the woman, tell her the police are on the way, and if she flees the scene I will most definitely pursue charges. (I probably will anyway but I’ll give her an implication that will make her feel safe.)

  2. .45ACP+P says:

And I thought at first that I was looking at bullet holes in the truck and was curious about the story. This was entertaining but 25-30 bullet holes in the truck was a better story, I was just sure of it. Darn it!

  3. AGirl says:

    Lol, I love ya.

  4. Lyle says:

“Nothing LESS sexier [sic} about a big, obnoxious, ozone polluting…”

“Ozone polluting”, eh? Derrr! I tell you; ignorance is a tool of Social Engineering. Public education is the means of ensuring it. Bri’s response is entirely Pavlovian.

Anyway, last time I saw a pickup with those fake balls dangling from the trailer hitch, it was being driven by a woman.

  5. Lyle says:

She’s what I’ve been calling a “cell of one”. Right now they’re mostly just shouting angrily and getting up in people’s faces, but it will get worse.

She’s been fed a life-long line of garbage by the Progressives, and this is the intended result. There is plenty more in store. There are millions of these “cells”. Be careful out there. The intent is to get you to react emotionally and therefore foolishly.

  6. Jennifer says:

You know what DEF is right? Urea. Yeah, as in urine. Feel free to point that out.
