Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 05/31/2010 - 10:52I have to say, that this is the most awesome search string I have seen yet! Even more amazing is it's from Califoniastan!
Whoever this is, please note, you put one hell of a smile on my face. Have a wonderful day.

Memorial Day
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 05/29/2010 - 13:11Memorial day is tomorrow despite the fact many believe it to be on Monday. Sorry but it's not, it is not an excuse for a three day weekend. It is a day to stop, pause, and reflect on the men and women who have paid the ultimate price so that we wouldn't have to.

This is extremely WRONG
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 05/28/2010 - 08:42What many Americans don’t realize, is that census workers — from the head of the Bureau and the Secretary of Commerce (its parent agency) down to the lowliest and newest Census employee — are empowered under federal law to actually demand access to any apartment or any other type of home or room that is rented out, in order to count persons in the abode and for “the collection of statistics.” If the landlord of such apartment or other leased premises refuses to grant the government worker access to your living quarters, whether you are present or not, the landlord can be fined $500.00.
What I find interesting is there's a couple problems here. In Washington at least the Landlord Tenant act says the landlord may not enter the premises without 48 hours advanced notification. Further the census website says the following:
Note that the census taker will never ask to enter your home

People need to STOP worrying about offending others
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Thu, 05/27/2010 - 13:54People will be offended no matter what happens. But telling someone they can't fly the American Flag in their window of their residence is bulls**t!
"This policy was developed to insure that we are fair to everyone as we have many residents from diverse backgrounds," the statement read. "By having a blanket policy of neutrality we have found that we are less likely to offend anyone and the aesthetic qualities of our apartment communities are maintained."
That is a national symbol and, honestly, if it offends you pack your bags and leave this country! I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to help with that.
My husband and I feel that being told not to fly the flag is highly offensive.

Since when is it our job to take care of everyone else?
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Wed, 05/26/2010 - 21:10What happened to self reliance and why in Zeus's butthole does the current administration want to take care of everyone else and ignore the issues in our own country?
The U.S. must shape a world order relying as much on the persuasiveness of its diplomacy as the might of its military, he said. All hands are required to solve the world's newest threats: terrorism, the spread of nuclear weapons, climate change and feeding and caring for a growing world population, he added.
As I continue reading Atlas Shrugged I frequently see similarities between the book and present day America.

Hunters are the biggest contributors to conservation, yet the Liberals think hunting and the tools used are a bad thing.

Lazy Saturday
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 05/22/2010 - 18:52So the goal was to help some people this morning, then hit up VJs and meet up with Laurel to help her with an issue that she apparently has resolved.
When I showed up to help this morning it appears that there were enough people to show up early that it was already done when I showed up on time. So I decided that with so much time to kill it was time to have an impromptu appreciation day for Starbucks.
No I didn't take this picture at Starbucks.
I was extremely glad I decided to say thank you by paying into the coffers of a local business that didn't discriminate against gun owners. The reason I was glad was I stopped off to talk to Charles at Sure Shot in Moscow to tell him how Janelle's new holster is working. Upon arrival I hear the following:

The local police refused to help due to fear of inciting a riot, plus they had the backup of out of jurisdiction thugs in uniform. May the organizers start randomly disappearing. This is the definition of terrorism, they are using terror to intimidate and get their way.

Mayor Daley, your ignorance is showing
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 20:08An officer was shot and killed during a robbery attempt today in Chicago. Mayor Daley is using this opportunity to say that a stricter handgun ban would have prevented the shooting.
The 30-year-old officer was shot as he left his father's house on the South Side early Thursday morning by would be robbers.
"If this person didn't have this, never happened," the mayor said, holding up a handgun on display for the news conference.

That’s a California politician for ya!
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 05/19/2010 - 21:09To some lawmakers, carrying around an empty gun seems threatening. In a quick response to this perceived but non-threat, AB1934 was drafted to make it a crime to carry an empty firearm in plain view. The bill's author, Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña, D-San Diego, is quoted as saying, "What I'm concerned about is people, who have no training, can carry a gun for no other purpose than to make a public statement."
California is a may-issue state. Translation for the uninitiated; do you like kissing ass? Because if you want a license, start kissing your local sheriffs ass. People to protest this have been doing protests legally by carrying unloaded firearms openly. Instead of looking at the flaws in the process, she intends to further restrict and punish law abiding citizens. I find it interesting that some law makers are uncomfortable by firearms being in possession of their constituents, is it because they're afraid that one day they may be held accountable for their actions?

Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Tue, 05/18/2010 - 20:58There's no such thing as the intellect. A man's brain is a social product. A sum of influences that he's picked up from those around him. Nobody invents anything, he merely reflects what's floating in the social atmosphere. A genius is an intellectual scavenger and a greedy hoarder of the ideas which rightfully belong to society, from which he stole them. All thought is theft. If we do away with private fortunes, we'll have a fairer distribution of wealth. If we do away with the genius, we'll have a fairer distribution of ideas. ~ Dr. Ferris from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
[All those in favor of socialism raise your right hand.
If this isn't an example of socialism, I don't know what is. Restrictions are being placed on the minds and abilities of people because it is supposedly fairer to the less fortunate and to the ones that don't pull their own weight. Those placing the restrictions are afraid of the people who can take care of themselves and don't need to be babysat by anyone. It's a loss of control for the simple minded who want all the power. If this doesn't sound familiar one should wake up and smell the roses. ~Janelle~]

Rules one must live by
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 05/18/2010 - 19:57You must always treat any firearm as if it was loaded, as such when someone shows a firearm it is presumed to be loaded. Just because you're waving around an unloaded firearm doesn't mean anyone else knows it's unloaded.
Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine told Action 3 News that 18-year-old Marquail Thomas had no shells in his shotgun, but may have been aiming at customer Harry McCullough when he was shot.
This is yet another example of people who don't have proper firearms training passing judgment. There is not a gigantic neon arrow pointing to the gun that says "Unloaded". The presumption is that every firearm is loaded, even when you know otherwise. Hind sight is always 20-20, just because more comes to light doesn't mean it was a bad decision. The judgment of the decision must be made within the context of the information available at the time.

So, the police are lying about the raid
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 05/17/2010 - 19:27Apparently there was a TV crew along for the raid Sunday night that cost a 7 year old girl her life. It has now come out that the account of the struggle with the woman is not accurate.
"There is no question about what happened because it's in the videotape," Fieger said. "It's not an accident. It's not a mistake. There was no altercation."
"Aiyana Jones was shot from outside on the porch. The videotape shows clearly the officer throwing through the window a stun grenade-type explosive and then within milliseconds of throwing that, firing a shot from outside the home," he said.
Any shooter will tell you that you always verify your target and what is beyond it! This man fired blindly into a house, and look what happened as a result. If I discharged my firearm in defense of myself and hit someone behind a wall my ass is in deep crap. Why, because I violated the rule previously mentioned. This man was in no immediate threat to life or limb, yet felt it necessary to discharge his firearm which then resulted in the death of this young girl.

Why we’re winning
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 05/17/2010 - 18:54I heard an extremely inspiring story from Snowflakes in Hell indicating the proof that we're winning the war in the fight for self-defense and firearms.
I'm trying to think of something to add, but wow. To collect that many cans and to part with the result when he could have very well used the money himself says more than anyone else possibly could. It does remind me though that the most common personality trait I see in the gun community is very giving and helpful. The first year I went to Boomershoot, 100% of the proceeds from the raffle went to Soldiers Angels. The prize winners just gave the cash back to Joe. Obviously we have something to offer that the other side does not. This still hasn't gone above 20 bucks and I first saw it 2 weeks ago.

Yet another No-Knock Fiasco

But upon entering the house, the lead officer got into a struggle with a 46-year-old woman – the little girl's grandmother – and the gun discharged, firing a bullet into Aiyana Stanley Jones' neck.

And this is a bad thing?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 05/16/2010 - 10:25I find that having more women shooting is a good thing. I also find that referring to them as "fanatics" detrimental. Pullman's perspective new police chief
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 05/15/2010 - 13:18So I just found out that the choice for Pullman's new police chief is a Captain from Claremont California. I have never had any issues in Pullman with concealed carry; however I have heard from other friends that have had issues with the chief but not with Pullman officers however. I was not able to attend the meeting however I wish I could have so I could have asked what his stance on concealed carry and his views on self-defense.
As the police chief is mainly a bureaucrat I'm not too overly worried about it, especially with how the officers themselves act and conduct themselves. We shall wait and see; if I end up running in to Commander Tennant at some point I'll make sure to ask what his thoughts are on the new chief. I must say though I really would have preferred for Commander Tennant to become the new police chief from my experiences talking with him.
As I no longer live in Pullman however it doesn't affect me too much though I do still work there.

I heard the tea party is dead
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 05/14/2010 - 19:57So a week ago I stumbled across an article stating that the Tea Party is dead. The author's reasoning is as follows.
Take the recent series of storms and tornadoes that recently hit the South, causing so much death and destruction. When tornadoes swept across Mississippi and Alabama, and when severe flooding struck Nashville, the pattern was the same. Local officials, unable to cope alone, called for help. FEMA officials arrived on the scene. Soon thereafter, President Obama declared the most severely impacted areas of those states as federal disaster areas, making residents eligible for grants for temporary housing and home repairs and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses.

Damn your civil rights, and your little dog too!
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 11:16Just stumbled across this on Snarky Bytes. The core statement via federal court judge is below for your immediate viewing pleasure.
“No reasonable person would dispute that walking into a retail store openly carrying a firearm is highly disruptive conduct which is virtually certain to create a disturbance. This is so because when employees and shoppers in retail stores see a person carrying a lethal weapon, they are likely to be frightened and possibly even panicky. many employees and shoppers are likely to think that the person with the gun is either deranged or about to commit a felony or both. Further, it is almost certain that someone will call the police. And when police respond to a “man with a gun” call, they have no idea what the armed individual’s intentions are. The volatility in such a situation could easily lead to someone being seriously injured or killed.”
A couple thoughts immediately come to mind, one being, "Sir your stupidity is showing." Thankfully Hsoi in the comments on Snarky's blog did the bigoted translation.
Of course, we can just have some fun with some slight edits:
>>>>>>>>>>

An inanimate object did what?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 20:49So I came across this online tonight, "A gun took his son, now Rock Hill dad puzzled by NRA rally." I fail to understand how the gun magically pointed itself at your son, pulled its own trigger, and then hopped in the car and drove off.
In 1998, Krenn's 16-year-old son, Erik, was dropping off a buddy on Rock Hill's South Jones Avenue when four guys carjacked Erik.
Oh wait, it was four individuals that car-jacked your son Erik, pointed the firearm at your son, and then pulled the trigger. These four individuals had no respect for the law then, what makes you think that banning firearms from the hands of law abiding citizens is going to change anything.

New Jersey Senator loves criminal safe zones
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 21:44Senator Lautenberg feels that it is better to expand the areas of an airport so murderers can work unhindered law abiding citizens cannot protect themselves.
"In the post-9/11 world, it simply defies common sense that it would be legal to carry a gun into an airport," he said in a statement. "Our airports face threats every day and allowing someone to walk into a major airport with a loaded gun is a recipe for disaster. My legislation will ban guns in airports and make air travel more safe and secure."
Already you cannot carry a firearm on a plane legally. What is changing is that when your family comes to pick you up from the airport they cannot be armed. Your husband or wife will have to leave their self-defense tools in the vehicle, to possibly be stolen, instead of carrying them with. Your family is just meeting you at the baggage claim and then walking back to the car, they're not going anywhere near the "secured area". Why would you need a gun though, all those security guards inside make it perfectly safe. Sure you feel safe inside, but what about all those people outside. They know you're unarmed so instead the thug can wait to rob you in the garage where there are no security guards. Way to go genius!
Also, I love the use of the 9/11 crutch. I'm surprised I don't hear more Pearl Harbor crutches currently to support internment of the Japanese. But we can totally trust the government. I would also like to point out the Democrat hero FDR interred the Japanese. Still trust those democrats?

Here Comes the Fat Fuzz!
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 22:39Damn you Mike Griffeath! All sarcasm aside now though, I do really like Mike and I know we have the same views on the BMI scale and I'm glad he tossed the following up on facebook. This is some scary crap for so many reasons my mind just flipped out.
States receiving federal grants provided for in the bill would be required to annually track the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. The grant-receiving states would be required to mandate that all health care providers in the state determine the Body Mass Index of all their patients in the 2-to-18 age bracket and then report that information to the state government. The state government, in turn, would be required to report the information to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for analysis.
This is one of the most disturbing things I've seen in a long time. BMI is not an accurate measure of fat content. In high school my BMI had me overweight through the roof. I swam 5 days a week, 3.5 hours a day, plus weight lifting and I was "severely overweight". I was extremely active, didn't sit around, eat junk and do nothing. I know I'm not the only one with this view on BMI and current methods to measure "fat content". What I find most scary though is that this can easily be manipulated to take someone's child away from them. It is extremely disconcerting because it totally violates the Jews in the Attic test. Your child will be required to be reported to the state; even if the only reason he is there is an emergency. I hope that anyone who helps the state or complies with the law realizes that I along with many others will consider them to be the equivalent of the Nazi Gestapo. The number one best way to make a man extremely dangerous and hostile is to mess with his family, and the government is now finding ways to take your children from you. BMI just makes an excellent excuse. You're teaching your kid firearms usage… oh his BMI says he's fat, we're taking your kid you horrible parent.
With the fat ass Michelle Obama has, it's not as if she has room to talk either.

Duly qualified eh?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 05/12/2010 - 20:12So the city of Harvey Illinois, a suburb of Chicago had 21 guns stolen. It is a suburb of the same Chicago that some politicians claimed recently the National Guard was needed to bring the murder rate under control.
Let me get this straight, the bigots claim that civilians are too irresponsible and are not capable of safely handling and storing a firearm, yet the bastion example of Law Enforcement for a single municipality looses 21 by themselves. Lest the fact that the ATF has lost firearms that were then later used to commit crimes. Though I am beginning to see a pattern emerge from behavior of those determined to be "duly qualified" to carry and handle firearms.

Second was that when something unforeseen like this happens the first order of business is not to panic; no matter how much it hurts. Third that was the most awesome possible result when he finally got rid of the squirrel. I say the squirrel sailed into the cruiser because of Karma(we were watching My Name Is Earl). My last comment was, "People wonder why I prefer to shoot the bastards with as much distance between me and them, THAT'S WHY!" Not to mention the fact that hitting them when they're further away is considerably harder.
I must say though, for the rider at least it wasn't a pack like this. Best way to deal with squirrels like that is to make clouds of pink mist. Maybe it is my philosophy on dealing with squirrels that has kept any from showing up around my house.
I had someone ask if I realized that was a story. The answer is yes, doesn't mean you can't glean anything from it. Besides, at Philmont those squirrels were down right freaking evil, wouldn't surprise me if a squirrel attacked someone. Also I'd probably let that squirrel live, any squirrel that freaked out two cops that much is OK in my book.

Boomershoot Staff Cleanup 2010
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 05/08/2010 - 13:18I just finished uploading the 2010 Boomershoot staff cleanup video. It provides a few chuckles with different quips.
I didn't get any video of the shoot down on the berm. We were in a rush because we did a special mini high-intensity event for Michael Bain and his film crew for The Shooting Gallery . I figured since they were filming it they'd probably get better footage anyway.

Private Boomershoot Party
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 23:11Today I went out to the Boomershoot site to help Joe with a private party with some coworkers from Microsoft. We met up around 0800 at "The Breakfast Club" in Moscow. I had French toast which was extremely yummy, however what was totally awesome was the fact they had "Green Eggs and Ham".
