DHS, Brown Shirts is thy Name
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 03/31/2011 - 18:32A couple weeks ago this came across my desk however it finally made it far enough for some ice cream to flow.
Everyone’s gauge for suspicious is different. Many will call in when they should actually be minding their own business. There are people who call in about an AK-47 when it’s obviously not. This is nothing more than further pushes to desensitize people and make them more willing to report on their neighbor.
While something bad could happen how is reporting every “suspicious” activity going to help. How do you separate the large volume of unnecessary noise from the actual incidents? This is a basic problem of security in general, large amounts of false data result in you decreasing your sensitivity.
Overall this whole scheme is doing two things:
- Make the sheep feel more comfortable by the use of a security theater.
- Make people more comfortable and amiable to the idea of calling in their neighbor.
My response is this: Go to hell.

Quote Of the Day–Jay G (03/30/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/30/2011 - 17:15Y'know, even though I don't have a flying car, I like living in the future...
[I spent last weekend using a radio to talk with Eastern and Western Europe, the Philippines, Russia, China, and South America. Thanks to the wonders of modern signal processing pulling people out of the weeds I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to hear or talk with made it that much more fun.
The wonders of modern technology make this an awesome place. I’ve made more contacts through gun blogging and GBC than I would have previously at any other time. I can easily find and independently verify information on my own. It’s a wonderful age, that the media and the gun grabbers I think are starting to hate. It’s too easy for people to figure out the anti-gunner lies, or discover facts they would rather have us not see.
Guns, bringing people from all over the world together. Even kids. -B ]

HB 1016 Passed the Senate
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/29/2011 - 14:38HB 1016 just passed the senate 47 – 0 with 2 excused. At this point it has to move across Christine’s desk. Normally I would be concerned, but with the overwhelming support from both the house and senate I’m not too concerned.
Supposedly according to the NRA’s facebook page there are those who disagree with the legalization of suppressors claiming they could only be used for nefarious purposes. That’s why absolutely no one showed up to EITHER public hearing to speak out against it here in Washington.
Suppressors are a safety device, if you disagree with suppressors, pull the muffler off your car or shut the hell up!
H/T to Uncle on the facebook incident.
Update:It has been Signed.

There’s you, and then there’s us.
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 03/28/2011 - 16:21Some how the police forgot not only about the kids they arrested and placed in the van but the van itself.
How is it you forgot about a van full of kids for 14 hours? Not only were they forgotten about, but it was someone else walking by that found them banging on the vehicle.
You have another instance where a police officer is trying to arrest a judge, his reason, the judge refused to sign off on an arrest warrant.
As time goes on, I’m getting a stronger feeling that the police believe they are above and exempted from the law. They are exempted from the consequences of negligent discharge and even in some instances have gotten away with murder.
Running into a cop when he’s having a bad day is starting to look like it will end quite badly for you, he on the other hand will still go home to his family while you’re either dead or forgotten in the back of his cruiser. No worries though because the officer wont be held accountable for their actions.

A Busy Weekend is Ahead
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 03/25/2011 - 18:19Blogging is going to be a bit light. I’m helping out a club with a radio contest this weekend.
Here are a couple links to things I want to write up on but just don’t have the time. I can feel the free ice cream machine stirring stuff up, but it just doesn’t want to flow.
- Obama stops drilling here and tells Brazil to drill so we can import their oil.
- First Portland shuts down a lemonade stand, now Hazelwood has shut down Girl Scouts selling cookies.
- FBI wastes more money on another ID system.
I’ll try and get some cream flowing again.

Quote of the Day–Joe Huffman (03/23/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/23/2011 - 14:18[I have always been amazed that people seem to think that allowing people to have a choice is some how forcing others into something. People are not being forced into anything, the only changes being made is allowing people the choice to exercise their rights. It baffles my mind how people twist the idea of allowing someone to exercise their rights becomes a violation of their rights.
People seem to love choices as long as the choices are things that they want access too. All too many people are willing to piss on other people’s rights when they don’t like it or disagree with it. The fact is though allowing people to carry arms for self-defense does not interfere with the rights of others, in fact it helps prevent others from interfering with your rights as well as the rights of others. Just the same, rights need to be supported whether you like them or not. -B]

Even the Fed Now Admits it
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/22/2011 - 16:47A Federal Reserve official announced today that the US has reached a cross roads towards insolvency.
As time moves forward people, agencies, and others will progress through the stages. The pain train is coming whether people like it or not. To come out of this is going to take blood sweat and tears, pain is unavoidable and the longer people try and prolong the inevitable the more the final crash is going to hurt. If you think everything is roses and unicorns, think again.

Resistance is Futile
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 19:14Apparently SEIU has been harassing Sodexo USA, to the point that Sodexo has now filed a civil suit under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
Union thuggery is the only way unions can continue to gain members and power. Unions are not looking out for the employees or members, they are looking out for themselves. They take a percentage of the employees pay in “dues.” The more the worker makes, the more profit the union gets paid. This means it’s in their best interests to extort as much as they can for pay. Then when the employee works harder, pulls extra shifts, and does overtime the union gets paid a percentage of that labor. The union did nothing for the employee all union does is get paid more.
Unions are worthless, they are nothing more that thieves who in many cases can force their people to give up money just for employment. What do unions really do currently, seriously? I fail to see any union do anything I can NOT do myself. If I don’t like the environment I work in, I have every right to quit. I do not have a right to work for a particular company, just the same a particular company doesn’t have right to retain me as an employee. Unions are the creation of people who don’t have the balls to deal with problems themselves. If you don’t like what a company is doing, do not work for them, do not buy their products, and do not support them. Unions steal from people under the guise of protecting and helping them, no different from the government.

Quote of the Day–Alan Andrews (03/20/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 03/20/2011 - 09:59
And that explains one of the key failings of the Fed. The two necessities in life, food and energy, are experiencing tremendous inflation. But the Fed’s inflation model ignores those things.
How stupid do you have to be to think people don’t need to eat or drive?
-Alan Andrews-I can’t eat an iPad
[People who end up in positions like that as well as with roles in government end up there not because they are smart, but because they’re too stupid to do anything else. They are trying to give new lies while the costs of basic living are obviously going up.
Who cares if the iPad is cheaper, people need to food, water, and fuel to live. Could the price for an iPad be dropping because demand has decreased? Has this decrease occurred because people instead are having to spend their money on food and transportation to their job? The fact is people are spending money on just what is needed, iPads are not necessary to survive.
Our leaders have done nothing but make life considerably harder, more complicated, and then they have tried to conceal it claiming it’s not a “cost of living”. The most important items that every person needs to survive are ignored. Remember though, there’s no inflation and everything is fine. –B ]

What does a gun owner look like?
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Fri, 03/18/2011 - 18:47Apparently I don’t look like one. A coworker of mine said she didn’t see me as a person who would shoot let alone carry a gun. In other words, I don’t look like a bumbling redneck idiot or helpless, dumb blonde the media portrays gun owners to be. She was even surprised that I am somewhat of a blogger, which is partially how the topic came up.
Joe Huffman is considered a “red-necked, knuckle-dragging, Neanderthal” and he has his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He also currently works at Microsoft. Why is it everyone thinks gun owners fit into some cookie cutter mold?

Idaho H222
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 03/17/2011 - 06:41Idaho's house passed H222 yesterday morning. With a vote of 41-28. This vote was a lot closer than I would like to see and the bill is now rolling towards the state senate.
If you're an Idaho resident, contact your state senator and tell them to support this bill. If you regularly visit any of the Idaho campuses, contact the appropriate senators and make sure to tell them to support it and why.
As I live on the border, I'm kicking a letter to Dan Schmidt to support the bill since I often find myself on both the WSU and UI campuses. I hope this can roll through to help in the fight to change the Washington Administrative Code as well.

Why is the left so violent, DC Edition
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 03/17/2011 - 06:09The windows at a GOP office in DC were shot out with a air rifle last night. Previously the left even attacked it's own offices with many immediately blaming the right. The left has shown a strong history of being willing to use violence.
Many on the "right" as well as those of us with "Wookie Suits" have been remaining calm and collected as all of this goes on. What they forget though is that eventually the victim will fight back, like Casey Heynes, who was repeatedly attacked by a bully and finally said enough is enough.
You push hard enough and long enough, eventually someone's going to fight back. When they do, their sole goal is going to be to put your ass down so hard you'll never want to do it again.

Spending more, While cutting back?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/16/2011 - 19:17So while cutting the budget today by 6.5 billion dollars, congress increased the deficit by 72 billion dollars.
Only our government could increase the national debt while claiming they were cutting back. The fun doesn’t stop there though because it ends up the Federal Revenue no longer covers the mandatory spending for required government functions.
Joe had a great example the other day regarding the current finical situation. At this point the government couldn’t save money even if it wanted to. Even then it would require serious cuts including getting rid of unnecessary jobs, social programs, and other things that really aren’t the role of government.
While some are vehemently objecting, others will be upset that what was promised them is no longer possible, and it will require that people return to being productive. Will it be painful, will many be upset they lost money “promised” them you bet. However you can’t get money for nothing and with how things are going the only solution is going to be to print the money to pay off the debts. This will weaken the value of the currency and people will be paid their due with cash that is worthless.
The government is still running flat out ignoring the fact that a mile down the road the bridge is out. You have city councils giving themselves pay raises. You have public employee unions working to continue and increase their burden on the public. Then you have congress who are cutting back their budget while actually spending even more.
If you haven’t started thinking about how you’re going to survive the coming economic collapse, you might want to seriously start thinking about it. This is unsustainable and it appears our elected officials are actually trying to ensure this crisis occurs.

TSA Doesn't Want to Appear Before Congress
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/16/2011 - 07:13The TSA backed out of a congressional hearing regarding the use of their full-body scanners today.
In other words, testimony to the government panel, should only consist of government shills, and no one who would present the opposing argument against a government agencies stance should be present.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven and hopefully those on the committee will see this action for exactly what it is. The agency has been willfully negligent, conspired to violate the law, and should be dealt with as the venomous snake they are. Their refusal to show up is nothing more than an excuse and a poor one at that. May congress roll down upon them like a ton of bricks.

Quote of the Day–Cindy Perman (03/15/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/15/2011 - 16:35[Many people feel entitled to different things, from money to property, to services. They look at millionaires and say they got rich by stealing from the poor. While some, such as Madoff certainly did exactly that most make their fortune by working their ass off.
The government runs much the same scheme as Madoff, except they require mandatory investment at the end of a gun. They then call this scheme “Social Security”. The government takes the excess income and instead of saving it for when the payouts will be greater than the input, they spend it elsewhere.
Many of us in America are working hard, constantly trying to get ahead. While we’re busy trying to save money, our government is squandering what it does have and is now taking even more. If you want more money, look in the mirror, it’s up to you to earn it. Though with all of those who feel entitled to your money, it’s becoming harder to keep it after you earn it. -B ]

Well There’s A Problem
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/15/2011 - 15:54There is a serious problem when you let people give themselves raises from the public coffers and the City of Denver has been so kind to demonstrate it for us.
In an economy where most people are struggling to make ends meet, are doing everything they can to save money and cut their personal deficit the city council voted to give themselves a raise from the public coffers increasing the already large deficit. You do not save money or cut down on debt by spending more.
Many companies have not given their employees raises over the past couple years and even more took a reduction in equal to what they were making. While the rest of America is tightening it’s belts, these individuals are choosing to spend more money that isn’t their and rack up more debt that they are neither responsible or accountable for. I hope come election time the 10 that voted yes will have opponents and be voted out of office. Hopefully their replacements will immediately work to revert the wages back. Obviously many in the government still don’t seem to understand the concept of spending within your means.

What are our politicians doing?
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Mon, 03/14/2011 - 16:18As the world focuses on Japan, what is happening right under our noses? Anything newsworthy is being completely overshadowed. I am not trying to be crass or insensitive, what's happening in Japan is truly heartbreaking, but some things are being severely exaggerated and creating mass panic. The reality, however, is being buried and only those of us that question everything are finding the truth.
The mantra, “never let a good crisis go to waste,” is starting to come into play as the politicians attempt to sneak stuff in under the radar. Just because this is not our crisis does not mean they won’t try to leverage it to their advantage.

TSA Body Scanners Giving 10x Dose
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 03/13/2011 - 07:10It came out today that some of their full body scanners are putting out 10 times the expected radiation levels.
As always the agency immediately went into damage control mode claiming that it is still less than what a person receives in background radiation during a normal day. The fact is this is not surprising at all considering the complete disregard for common safety measures taken when dealing with equipment that use radioactive material. The spike caused by the malfunctioning equipment would have been immediately seen on the dosimeter worn by employees working around the equipment. That’s one of the main reason dosimeters are worn by employees. This is willful negligence on the part of the TSA and DHS.
This coupled with the fact that the DHS also claims the right to:
- strip search any passenger without cause or warrant,
- expand to malls
- expand to public transportation,
- expand to private aircraft,
- and otherwise strip you of your liberty and freedom
really illustrates an out of control agency that serves no other purpose than to abuse and kill Americans, albeit slowly by increasing cancer risks. A Security Theater has done nothing to improve safety, in fact they are now showing that they are doing the complete opposite. If any private organization had been this negligent OSHA would be all over them until they declared bankruptcy.
This agency needs to be put down like a rabid dog and it’s behavior and rate of growth reminds me of some other agencies in the early 1990s. The only difference is they haven’t shot a woman holding a baby or burned a bunch of people to death. Instead they are giving people extra unnecessary dose of radiation at the point of the gun, claiming necessity, but in reality it’s pointless.

Live Writer Blacklist Plugin
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 03/12/2011 - 15:18Joe has been running a Righthaven blacklist utility which has been quite handy. If you don’t know why Joe would spend his time creating that web utility, or I would create a plugin to do it, see this.
I spent some of last weekend and this weekend making a blacklist utility for Windows Live Writer. Today I finished up creating the MSI installer and have a preliminary version (0.1.0) to post into the wild. Currently the blacklist is hardcoded into the plugin, the actual version (1.0.0) is going to support web updates to the blacklist, along with an additional feature of grey listing.
The grey list will make sure that “no follow” tags are attached to any link that has a domain that matches one in the list.
The default state just puts up a message box with the offending anchor text but the post will still succeed. You can change this by checking the error on post check box in the options. You can add your own URLs to the user list.
Play with it, tell me if you find any bugs or issues you would like me to change or features you would like me to add. I’m going to create a projects website tomorrow with support contact information. For now just use this contact form.
Update: I fixed the msi download. It's now in a zip. It appears the mime-type for the msi is wrong. I've tried changing the htaccess but it is still broken. I am just going to use the .zips from now on. It cut the file size in half anyway.

HB 1016, SB5112 Hearing Update
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 03/10/2011 - 06:24The hearing for HB 1016 was yesterday. HB 1016 is the same as SB 5112.
Only five people were able to attend, however just like with the previous hearing all were in support of the bill.
There was an industry rep who manufactures suppressors, he was the one who testified in favor of the bill. The statement out of the executive session of the committee was a "Due Pass" recommendation. The committee chair feels that it will most likely pass.
Here is the audio video from the hearing:

5 Stages of Grief, Economic Twist
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 03/10/2011 - 08:32Lately there has been a lot of yelling that the country isn't broke. This morning it became apparent to me that the country is going through the stages of grief with regards to the economy.
- Denial, Denial is pretending the problem doesn't exist or cannot be seen. Many are currently doing that, ignoring how bad the financial situation really is.
- Anger, Anger has been expressed over and over by both people who are still in stage one, as well as people in stage 3.
- Bargaining, People on both sides of the isle are trying to bargain their way out of the inevitable truth. There is no money to borrow to fix this. It's going to take sweat blood and tears.
- Depression, Often this stage and the next are rolled together. It's questions like Joe's that get asked when you realize bargaining is no longer useful and the depression of the truth sinks in.
- Acceptance, You realize this is going to hurt, there is nothing that can be done, but it's better to take your licks now than let it grow and hurt more later.
The sooner you realize the gravity of the situation, the better. That's steps 4 and 5 folks, steps 1-3 are merely trying to prolong the inevitable. In order to be able to survive this, cuts are going to have to be made and people are going to have to accept that. Is it going to hurt, yes, but some times in order to get better you have to go through some pain.

Woohoo! Go Idaho!
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Thu, 03/10/2011 - 23:02While everyone was watching Wisconsin, Idaho slipped through the cracks and passed their own bill stripping public school teachers of collective bargaining rights.
The Idaho bill, which excludes issues like class size and workloads from negotiations for the state's 12,000 unionized teachers, was given final approval by the Republican-led House and is expected to be signed by Republican Governor Butch Otter.
Now, a day later than Idaho, Wisconsin steps aboard much to the dismay of union employees.
The bill's passage by the state's Republican-controlled Assembly in a 53-42 vote ended a three-week stalemate that saw the state's 14 Senate Democrats flee to Illinois in a bid to stymie the measure and tens of thousands of people protest at the Capitol.
The unions are in such a tizzy over all of this that they are requiring a town in Connecticut to pay for coffee and milk that will be free to the union employees. They even ordered the town to reinstate casual Fridays.
A Connecticut town must provide their union workers free coffee and milk, according to a ruling from the State Board of Labor Relations.
The board also ordered town leaders to reinstate “Dress Down Fridays” for the union clerical and custodial workers.
Will anyone ever learn that nothing comes free (RTWT)?

Seven Stylish Things….

Quote of the Day – Joe Huffman (03/09/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/09/2011 - 15:35There is something I learned in chess a long time ago which holds true in the gun games I play and it’s true in politics as well . It’s more important to not lose than it is win. Let the other guy take the chances and you win when they screw up. -Joe Huffman,
[I find this fits quite well with my comments on open carry. The focus needs to be on not losing. Our enemies will screw up on their own and when they do we can capitalize on their failure. Why expend energy and effort accomplishing a goal when your enemy can give it to you? Especially since when expend energy like that you risk making the mistake yourself. -B]

Who do you really work for?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/08/2011 - 15:57The government is taking a third of everything you make to do with as they see fit. You are a slave to the system, all that time and effort you spent getting a good job was for naught. You would actually probably be better off just living off the government dole. The government is spending out of control and it is the hardworking American tax payer stuck with the bill. I seriously wouldn’t care if tomorrow they announced all the social programs were shut down. I’m sick of the government redistributing the fruits of my labor to others by the threat of force against me. It is nothing more that “legalized” theft.

A Government Within It’s Means
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 03/07/2011 - 16:57Mr. Obama, some of us are confused by your weekly address.
(Emphasis mine) Mr. Obama, that statement does not mean what you think it means. The deficit has tripled since you came in to office.
Not to mention the month of February 2011 has the largest deficit in history. It was so big in fact, that it was bigger than the entire deficit from 2007. The government cannot create jobs, all it can do is take money and redistribute it to others under the guise of creating jobs.
Why did the deficit need to triple? It is not the government’s job to innovate and it is not the government’s job to provide education either. The interest from the debt is going to reach a point where it is unmanageable. In order to live within your means sometimes means cutting things that you think are necessities but are actually luxuries. Many have been learning this fact first hand while Obama and family has been out playing golf and globe trotting.
If you want to be within the means of our country, you need a surplus big enough to destroy sizeable amounts of the debt. Will it hurt, yes, but a small amount of pain now is preferable to the total economic collapse that awaits if things don’t change.
H/T Alan who posted the Gateway Pundit article on GBC.

Another example of collective bargaining
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 03/06/2011 - 12:53Another example of the games unions play in maximizing their leverage to get their way occurred Hawaii.
It reminds me of the games Fox plays with different cable and satellite providers just prior to the Super Bowl. Fox had done the same thing in the past with Time Warner and Comcast. The crisis is created when the most customers will be in trouble. Whether or not the raises are justified are inconsequential, people get very upset when their lights don’t come on with a flip of a switch.
If you get enough people to yell and scream, who don’t actually know or understand the facts, who are inconvenienced by your strike, they will support you to end it as quickly as possible. People who do this are despicable, dishonest, and should just be terminated from their jobs. This is nothing more than leveraging a crisis for extortion and using it to get their way.

Utah is taking the wrong approach.
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Sun, 03/06/2011 - 21:07Utah’s solution: criminalize miscarriage caused by “reckless behavior”.
What defines reckless behavior? Supposedly the Utah law makers just want to prevent such an atrocity from happening again.
There are several factors that should be addressed before jumping straight to amending the current laws on the books. First, look at the reasoning behind the girl’s actions, her boyfriend threatened to leave her if she didn’t do something about the baby. Second, what is her mental status considering she paid someone to beat her up? Third, she must have a super low self esteem is she is willing to stay with the asshole of a boyfriend.
The consequences that could come down from this new law would include criminalizing women who don’t actually do anything wrong. Women who have a miscarriage could be brought under scrutiny by the courts and possibly have charges brought against them for a natural cause of death. These women don’t need the emotional and psychological burden added to them by the legal system. They will already be under a slew of emotions just from the loss of a miscarriage. A miscarriage does not equal abortion no matter how one looks at it. An abortion is intentional, a miscarriage is a naturally occurring tragedy for the mom.

Hope is Not a Plan
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 10:43There are a couple common sayings where I work. Many of these sayings are extremely flexible and can be applied just about anywhere in your life. Here are three of my favorites.
Hoping that something does or doesn’t happen isn’t a solution to the problem. This goes for anything from fiscal crisis to violent crime. Some hope that they will not become the statistical anomaly, however hope is not a plan. It does nothing to prevent or alter the outcome regarding the events concerned. Hoping a man doesn’t stab you while he’s mugging you isn’t really a plan to solve your problem.
This can be seen with other things as well. Hoping a child doesn’t drown isn’t a plan, that’s why there is rescue equipment at most pools. Hoping a kitchen fire doesn’t happen isn’t a solution to deal with the problem should one occur, instead many have fire extinguishers in their kitchen. Hoping a tire doesn’t go flat on your car doesn’t prevent it from happening, that’s why you carry a spare.
This also goes for dealing with legislation, both good and bad. I’ve been following HB 1016 and SB 5112 so closely and contacting those I should because hoping it will pass is not going to make it so.
A plan is a series of actions one is going to take to solve or prevent a problem. Hope is merely trying to wish the problem away or out of existence.
While the word “Wait” can be used as a verb, it is not actually an action. It is used to indicate the absence of action. Waiting for someone else to solve your problems is never a solution. Waiting to do something is like letting a positive feedback loop run while providing no negative feedback negating none of it. Eventually the problem will be so big you can do nothing about it.
Some would rather wait for someone else to solve their problems. Some do this because they want to feel morally superior, others do it because they feel waiting isn’t a problem. The fact is though, problems get worse over time if nothing is done. Calling someone else to solve your problem is still waiting because you’re not doing anything.
If you want to see the future of something you care about, then create it. Don’t wait for someone else to create it for you, they may even create something that you really dislike. From a rights and freedoms perspective you can help cement the future. You can work to get legislation changed, you can work to gather information and rally others, there are numerous things that can be done to create your future.
Back when I was still growing up, the future was still quite uncertain regarding gun rights. Thankfully many throughout our culture have stepped up to create the future we have now and are still working so the future is even brighter than it is now.
Can anyone think of any others that should be added?

Explosives can be Used to Solve Anything
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 03/04/2011 - 17:48I came across something earlier in the week that was hilarious.
The solution to global warming is nuclear winter. It just reminds me of that classic saying, “There are very few problems that cannot be solved by the suitable application of high-explosives.” It just requires that they be applied correctly.

Guns on Campus, A Response
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 21:05So the WSU Daily Evergreen ran a horrible opinion piece today regarding carrying concealed weapons on campus. The piece was so full of inaccuracies, it just couldn’t be ignored, especially since many will take it as fact.
She starts by listing off Texas and Arizona which are currently looking at legalizing concealed carry on campus as Utah has done. She then follows this up with this baffling quote of contradiction.

A Good Diplomat
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/02/2011 - 16:26As I said previously when carrying you’re a diplomat, and Robb Allen does a fantastic job in his interview.
I think Caleb from Gun Nuts Media said it better than I can.
I want everyone who advocates for open carry to go to Robb’s blog and watch the video he did with the local ABC affiliate. That is how you advocate for open carry. He looks like a normal dude, doesn’t shout about A RIGHT UNEXERCISED IS LOST, and he certainly didn’t wave a shotgun around. Instead, he acted like a rational dude and made his points succinctly and intelligently. And he even wore pants.
Whether or not you like it, while carrying you are having to break down the negative stereotypes associated with carrying from the media. This is much more easily done by acting and behaving exactly like Robb did. Serious kudos to you Robb, that’s the way to win hearts and minds!

The TSA Screws Up Again
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 03/02/2011 - 18:00Yet again the A Security Theater failed to prevent someone from carrying a weapon onboard an airplane. It wasn’t just any weapon though, it was the same principal weapon used in the September 11th hijackings.

Another lost classmate
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/01/2011 - 17:26Caused by another person from my graduating class. This whole incident was one big gigantic bag of fail from bad decisions that was just waiting to happen.
The woman said she and Johnson had been dating about a month.

Illinois AG Providing Shopping List to Criminals
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 03/01/2011 - 16:34This is by no means the first time a horrible idea like this has come up, but this is just unbelievable.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has issued a letter instructing state police to release the names of authorized gun owners in Illinois to the press, the Associated Press is reporting.
Why would anyone think this is a good idea? Whose business is it who owns a firearm. All this serves to do is provide a shopping list for criminals. They know which houses are armed and which houses are not. They know which houses to wait until the owner leaves which will have another weapon for them, and which houses are unarmed to invade after stealing the weapon. It’s a shopping list for criminals. Not only that though, it provides a starting place for bigots to find and harass gun owners.
