Boomershoot 2011
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 05/01/2011 - 03:00Today is Boomershoot 2011, the main event. If for some reason you couldn’t make it, here’s another pic of blasty goodness.

And now for something completely different
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 04/30/2011 - 03:00Tomorrow is the main event for Boomershoot so here’s a distraction from the impending awesome.
The Queen Bitch

Tomorrow night I shall try to post some awesome, if not, then it will come on Monday!

21 Days of Boomershoot–Day 21 (2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 04/29/2011 - 03:00A thanks is deserved by the entire Huffman clan for putting this on every year. It takes a lot of time and effort to organize this shin dig.
Thanks Kim, Barb, Joe, and Xenia.
Anyone who says things like this don’t bring families together must be nuts. Today is the first day of Boomershoot, if you’re not here, well it sucks to be you.

Some must die for others to be a “Hero”
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 04/27/2011 - 19:52An off duty cop, not in uniform shot a man in front of his wife in his own house today. The man ran after the off duty officer pulled a gun and yelled at the individual he was a cop and proceeded to run at him.
Moments later, "Josh ran into the house, slammed the door and fell," said Britton, 22.
The officer needs to be jailed, he is responsible, there’s numerous versions of the story but he should have called police instead of running up kicking in the door of the house and just shooting him. The cop was not in uniform, not on duty, not in his jurisdiction, and had no real business other than calling in what he perceived to be suspicious behavior. I honestly wish in this case the home owner had shot the off duty cop, the guy obviously wanted to be a hero and sadly this individual may pay for this cops desire with his life.
If you’re not in uniform, call the police, it’s what you tell us to do. Stop looking for problems and creating situations because you want to be a hero. You wrongfully shot this man and honestly committed murder. I’m sure since he’s a cop though they’ll let him walk free, they always do.

It begins
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 04/26/2011 - 19:20Now begins the job of arranging equipment, packing, and getting read for Boomershoot. Blogging will be light over the next couple days, I have some stuff set to auto post but I’m going to be pretty busy.
This is the first year I’ll be camping on site so I’m trying to make sure I’ve got both camping and shooting equipment lined out and ready. Tomorrow I pack!

21 Days of Boomershoot–Day 19 (2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 04/27/2011 - 03:00The reason why Joe loves doing this is quite simple.
Don’t believe me, here’s the proof.
Note, these pictures were from a private Boomershoot event, doesn’t make it any less awesome though.

But, there’s gun control.
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 04/25/2011 - 18:42A father of 4 was murdered in cold blood today in Britain after breaking up a fight in McDonald’s.
Amazingly enough given all of Britain’s strict gun laws the criminal was still able to obtain one and shoot the innocent person who broke up the fight. The individual was disarmed by his government and was told to rely upon the state for his protection. We see how gloriously this blind faith failed this individual.
His children are now left without a father not because of a gun, but the actions of an individual. The individual responsible for this crime would have used a baseball bat, a tire iron, or any other tool available to him to commit this crime.
We also see through other statements that no one came to Mr. Mitchell’s aid even though they heard him in trouble and in fear for his life.
Thanks to the disarmament of the population people who could have helped were instead rendered helpless to ensure the demise of Mr. Mitchell. The police didn’t help Mr. Mitchell, the neighbors didn’t help Mr. Mitchell, the only person who could have helped him was himself. That person was intentionally disarmed by his government to ensure the safety for their criminal class.

Unpossible, TSA screener a pedophile?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 04/24/2011 - 21:13It’s been a while since I’ve talked about the TSA. The reason for this is much along the same lines as Dave talked about here. What I came across tonight though damn near caused me to crack a tooth my jaw clinched so tight.
The DHS and the TSA has been constantly claiming the screenings are needed for our own safety, even the full search of a 6 year old girl. They constantly use fear mongering tactics claiming that the terrorists will use any exploitable advantage given them.
To every complaint leveraged though they claim that their screeners are thoroughly trained and are thoroughly screened themselves. So it must be completely unfathomable that a screener was busted today for distributing child pornography.
Remember these are the people who are searching violating your wives and your children. This individual, if he operated a body scanner, had at his disposal numerous images of people disrobed by the force of government. The TSA is an out of control monster who has again and again abused the American people under the guise of protecting them. It is reasonable to suspect at this point that the government itself is trying to empower these criminals, especially given the fact that the TSA has never stopped any terrorist attack. The have however stopped US representatives on their way home, cause you know those congress critters are totally terrorists. So here’s a list off the top of my head of things the TSA has done to different American’s under the force of government.
- Forced passengers to be felt up and viewed naked by a child pornographer.
- Force passengers to be felt up and viewed naked by a convicted rapist.
- Stole from the luggage of passengers.
- Harass and humiliate a rape victim for refusing a pat down.
- Humiliate a woman over properly stored breast milk.
- Humiliate a cancer survivor covering him in urine.
- Humiliate a cancer survivor forcing her to expose her prosthetic breast.
- Humiliate a 4 year old with leg braces.
- Forcibly separate parents from children. (Note they employ child pornographers, wonder why they separate parents from kids. They claim it’s not policy but it’s happened enough.)
There are countless more incidents, I probably should start making my own counter called the TSA counter, cause you notice when dealing with the TSA how it always starts with, “The Stupid Asshole.” I know of a couple ways that we could shut down the TSA, but none of them are really legal and well I’d rather avoid that route. Something obviously needs to be done though. The government is using the threat of force to hand ourselves and our children over to sexual predators. Failure to comply will result in your ass heading to jail at worst, at best your walking home.
The only thing I think we can do currently is to ostracize anyone who works for the TSA. If you have a “friend” who works for the TSA, they’re no longer a friend. Do not associate with anyone who works for the TSA, provide the bare minimum of interaction, and sure as hell tell them to leave you alone afterwards. These are not your countrymen, these are not your friends, these are not patriots on the front line of the defense of liberty. If anything they are the antithesis of the above. A person who was any of those things would strive to defend your liberty, freedom, and safety from the government they are claiming to represent.
The bottom line is that the TSA is A Security Theater and all their claims about the strict professionalism of their employees is bull. While some may remain professional, the bottom line is they still aren’t telling their bosses NO. These searches are pointless, unnecessary and do nothing more than verify our subservience to the state. To prove that point, if you voice your displeasure towards these practices you will receive special treatment.

A life of Victimhood
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 04/23/2011 - 10:34CSGV’s Facebook page is becoming an everlasting document to prove fear mongering to gather support. Their latest attack was against AntiTango, for this post. What’s interesting is what they chose to complain and then lie about.
Evidently making your kid eat his dinner qualifies as child abuse now. These people are so obsessed with victimhood that they perceive every action as having a victim. This even includes the act of self-defense.
That’s right folks, they admitted that they believe the aggressor is the victim when someone being attacked defends themselves. I have altered the situations below to reflect their process failure.

21 Days of Boomershoot–Day 16(2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 04/24/2011 - 03:00Sometimes it’s necessary to lob heavy objects high into the air.
Many would freak out about a 75 lbs. anvil being tossed ~110 feet in the air. What if it starts coming down where you’re standing? The answer to that is quite simple, step out of the way. It actually isn’t moving super fast, and as long as the base is level it’s coming down almost exactly where it left from. This year there will be more shenanigans.

Blogger Roll Updates
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 04/23/2011 - 21:33I got lucky and noticed a couple sites have added me to their blogroll. If I’m on your blogroll but you’re not on mine, let me know.
- Antitango: As of late he’s been punching CSGV in the junk whenever possible. It’s not as if they don’t deserve it.
- Where Angels Fear To Tread: More on freedom, guns, liberty, and all the other wonderful things in life.
- Gun Geek Rants: The title is self explanatory.

Quote of the Day–Patrick (04/23/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 04/23/2011 - 22:09So now they are going after us through other methods. Through our children, our work, anything they might do to cause us legal difficulty. They don’t even have to be correct or honest. After all, how many people have gone bankrupt after having to defend themselves in court, only to be found innocent? [You can beat the rap, but not the ride] How will they attack us next? -Patrick
[I previously talked about Antitango’s issue here. Patrick makes a connection a bit further than I did in realizing the full potential of this type of attack, as it is a method to use to bankrupt us, destroy our families, and crash morale. I know from personal experience there is no such thing as winning a lawsuit, especially one brought by the state. The amount of damage that can be done by this type of slander and libel is serious and dangerous. At a minimum you’re out of the fight while you get your kids back and your kid is forever scared.
Let me state something right here, right now, for everyone to know so we’re clear. Anyone who attempts to take my kid away through libel, slander, use of force, or any other threat towards my child will unleash a horror upon them the likes of which they will have never seen. The most dangerous man in the world is the man who has absolutely nothing to lose, and when you threaten his family or his children, that prospect becomes reality.
My wife says I’m mild mannered and easy to get along with, to a point. That point is where you intend to bring harm to myself or my family and the type and method of harm is inconsequential. –B]

They fucking told the attackers to flee before the cops arrived and didn’t really help to alleviate the situation and then stepped back and continued to film while the poor girl had a seizure. I can’t put into words how pissed off the video makes me.
Update (4.25.11)
Apparently the assault victim from the video is a transgender woman. If this isn’t a hate crime, then nothing is.

When you find you why, it all the sudden makes sense.
The quick and dirty version is Joe didn’t know his zero and didn’t want to look the fool. Instead he had me risk looking the fool, it was low risk but for TV it certainly ups the pressure.

Come to Boomershoot and people will let you try out their rifles, and provide you the equivalent of a 3 gallons of gas and ask for nothing in return. That’s why I LOVE this culture.![]()
The only real thing that is asked remains unwritten, return the favor and be just as courteous.

URL Blacklist Plugin Update
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 19:29Incase you missed it, I created a blacklist plugin for Windows Live Writer. So everyone who uses this thing but Joe failed. There was a bug, I made a dumb mistake and it would error if you published a post with no links in it. I missed it in my testing because I was more focused on catching links and not nailing good links. Why would I think about a post with no links at all right?
I fixed it this afternoon and am releasing a hotfix that fixes that issue. Along with the hotfix it now supports getting the blacklist from a URL. A sample blacklist can be seen here. This makes it much easier to pick up new domains as they’re added. Currently the list is not automatically updated, but that is on the road map.
You can get the new version 0.2.0 Blacklist Plugin Installer here.

Sexist Pig
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 23:02After reading the article by Eric Heyl I have come to the conclusion that he has never been in the company of a real woman. His only exposure to women are from magazines with models airbrushed to perfection.
I am the proud owner of a snubbie revolver for my own personal protection.
The industry is unlikely to successfully tap that market until it conquers the pesky preconceived notions that likely turn off many females to the idea of gun ownership. Women likely won't consider packing pistols if they are concerned that:
Note: my revolver was a wedding gift, given to me by my husband.
-- Spending several hundred dollars on a serviceable handgun might leave them without enough money to get the full treatment at that next visit to the day spa.
I have no problem buying a pistol and I actually have my eye on a Sig P226. Why would I go to a spa and pay a ridiculous amount of money for something I can do in the comfort of my own home for much less and I could host a “spa” party and just have a grand ol’ time with friends?
-- Carrying a gun in a small purse would leave less room for more important items, such as lipstick or compact.
I have a very cute backpack style purse that is specially designed to carry a pistol and allow room for anything else I need. I find self defense much more important than items of vanity.
-- The baggy clothing required to successfully conceal most holsters would make them appear frumpy.
There are actually concealable holsters on the market for women so baggy clothing isn’t necessary. That is also one of the points of carrying a conceal carry purse.
-- Gunpowder residue might stain the new Karen Scott blouse they just bought at Macy's.
When it comes to self defense, if I have to shoot my gun, I could care less what happens to the clothes I am wearing. Besides, fabric is washable and replaceable, I cannot replace myself or wash away the after effects of an attack on myself if I am completely defenseless.
-- The gunpowder smell when the weapon is fired could totally overwhelm the Chanel they're wearing.
In my profession, wearing perfume is not recommended as you never know if a client/patient/resident is sensitive to fragrances. I would rather be unscathed than to care a flying f*** about whether my perfume is being overwhelmed by gunpowder. Besides, I like to go to CD’s Smokepit and I always have the smell of yummy BBQ lingering on my person by the time I leave.
Not only that but some men find the smell of burnt gun powder arousing and attractive. Certainly not a man of such “high caliber” as Mr. Heyl, only sad lonely depraved men like my husband. Sad lonely men who get to partake in Dr. Joe’s cure all which I’m sure Mr. Heyl has never experienced.
-- Most firearm accessories come only in one boring color: black.
Who cares? As long as its functional. I prefer black to the pink that is currently on the market for women anyway. But there’s also blue, red, green, and you can have it painted however you like. It’s nail polish but for your gun.
-- Target practice earplugs simply aren't sexy.
Sexy is a relative term. There are men that find women very sexy when seen in shooting gear. Besides, some earplugs are not noticeable and as long as I still have hearing capabilities at the end of the day, I don’t care.
That’s also why god created suppressors.
Besides, if women can’t be sexy while carrying a firearm or holding one, explain this:
She so hawt, even I’d do her.

Springtime on the Palouse
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 04/18/2011 - 20:14So it’s 10 days to the start of Boomershoot, for staff anyway, and hopefully this isn’t a sign of things to come. Yes it can be a great wind indicator, I will shoot rain, shine, tidal wave, whatever. I just do prefer to be comfortable at least one day of the shoot, mainly the day of. I’ll take cold and wet Friday and Saturday.![]()
Yes that is snow sticking to everything but the concrete, which it started to later. I must say that’s a really neat HDR shot since it turned the snow above black and the snow below white. Now for the proof that it is actually spring on the Palouse.

She was much more lively the night before at the Boomershoot dinner, she tried to hit me with her mom’s keys. Normally I’d be upset, but she was adorable as she did it, how could you be upset when she’s got a face like this?

Big action, Little town
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Wed, 04/13/2011 - 20:51This morning, around 0845, the hubby texted me about a rolled semi just as you enter our little town. The spread of Peterson-Syndrome
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 04/13/2011 - 21:49This morning Sebastian posted a link to something the CSGV posted on their Facebook page bashing pro-gun bloggers including one who is a personal friend. Upon reading it when I got home they had updated to have a response to Sebastian’s response.
The Peterson-Syndrome is showing through. If we are going to take her argument at face value we must then ask, what about the opinions of people like Suzanna Hupp who had the tools and skills to end the violence brought before them but were disarmed.
Every argument they make is premised with the belief that every permit carrier is going to snap and go on a shooting rampage. They are often projecting their own feelings and emotions forgetting that a potentiality is not an actuality. They seem to think our goal is to see people shot and injured while ignoring the fact we are merely supporting the inalienable right of self-defense.
Joan Peterson shot herself in the foot and proved her mental defect when she stated the equivalent of the following:
It is better to have a higher overall crime rate for fewer crimes committed with a gun.
Joan Peterson wants more victims at the hands of criminals as long as they aren’t committed with a gun. On our side of the fence want people to not be forced by law to be victims.
- We want women to be able to defend themselves from rapists who would violate them.
- We want the elderly to be able to defend themselves from young thugs who would beat them to death to impress a girl.
- We want people to be able to defend themselves from criminals who would take their lives.
- We want people to have access to the most effective tools of self-defense.
Often this last point is portrayed as if we want to force everyone to carry a gun. The fact is though that couldn’t be further from the truth. We want people to be able to make the choice if they wish to be able to defend themselves.
If we allow Joan’s logic of being a victim of violence to be correct, like Sebastian I am a victim of cancer. My father passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was 19.
Just the same though I am also a victim of violence. My mother stopped the abuse of an elderly couple and arrested the situation when the thugs tried to threaten and intimidate her. How did she do this? She used a firearm, not a single shot was fired. The group of kids were arrested minutes later while trying to steal a car when the police arrived. People like Joan and the CSGV would prefer my mom had left the couple at the mercy of those thugs and been at their mercy herself.
My father and mother went to the movies when I was a baby. A group of four proceeded to be extremely rude, intimidated the staff, and were generally discourteous. My father went to talk to the manager about the men who were still causing problems after the movie was over. The men noticing what my father was doing proceeded to start harassing him. They were warned to move on and to leave. They continued to harass and physically intimidate my father until they placed themselves between my father and mother. At this time my dad withdrew his firearm holding it at his side, at no time was it pointed at anyone, he then directed the men to remove themselves from between him and my mother immediately. They complied and the police, who had already been called, arrived shortly thereafter. The city of Kent charged my father with “assault with a deadly weapon.” The jury found him not guilty with less than thirty minutes deliberation. As jurors were leaving, two jurors approached my father and his attorney and informed them that prior to this trial they disliked firearms and supported gun control. They then expressed that had they been in my fathers position they would have wanted a firearm, and due to the trial they were expanding their horizons. In this case the CSGV would prefer a father be outnumbered and possibly permanently injured to not return home to support and protect his children.
The bottom line is that ultimately each side of this debate supposedly wants the same thing, less violence. The problem is the anti-gun lobby only cares about “gun violence”. If rape, murder, and other violent crimes increased but a gun wasn’t used, they would still consider that a win. In our book crime is crime, no matter the tool used. It ends up that the firearm is the most effective tool for self-defense, anyone can learn to use a firearm and physical ability is not the deciding factor in use. God created men, Samuel Colt made them equal. People have even more right to make themselves NOT a victim than to be forced by law to be disarmed and become prey for predators.

When One Fight Ends…
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 04/12/2011 - 18:11When one fight ends another one is surely to follow. HB 1016, the suppressor bill, was finally signed into law yesterday. Under the table however within the past couple days, one of only 4 people who didn’t support the bill has introduced new legislation.
Representative Ross Hunter, who amazingly enough is the chair of the Ways and Means committee, has introduced legislation to repeal one of the most beneficial self-defense laws Washington State has. He want’s to repeal RCW 9A.16.110, which allows for reimbursement of legal defense costs when a person is acquitted of a crime on the basis of self-defense.
Why he is attacking this law specifically is unclear, however it most likely pertains to attempting to balance the budget. This however is not how one goes about balancing the budget. One does not throw law abiding citizens who have been wrongly brought before the bar because of an act of self defense to be bankrupted by the state. They were a victim in the crime committed against them or their family and then they are further victimized by overzealous prosecutors who then give bonuses for convictions.
The prosecutor has discretion regarding whether to bring a case before the bar, as such if you want to save the state money, make him responsible for the reimbursement of legal costs. If someone is found not guilty by reason of self-defense, the prosecutors office is then responsible for paying the legal fees. Employees in the office are not paid until the reimbursement is settled. If the office is no longer able to prosecute cases so be it. Prosecuting someone for defending themselves, family, or another innocent should seriously hurt. Making the prosecutor liable for the costs would certainly help. This will actually cut costs doubly since prosecutors wont be paying for court fees either in cases that should never appear before the bar.
Please contact the members of the House Ways and Means Committee and make your voice heard. This is completely unacceptable and does nothing more than allow our law abiding citizens to be victimized twice. Once by the criminal and again by the state.
Update: It appears that it may have been already pulled from the agenda for tomorrow. I'm going with trust but verify. I am writing an email to my rep who's on the committee to verify. I will keep you all posted.
Update 2:I just got an email from Joe Schmick:
The bill has been pulled from the agenda. We will have to wait and see if it indeed stays off the agenda for the remainder of the week.
I have received numerous calls and emails on this topic over the last few days. Not one person has contacted me in support of the bill. I am hearing loud and clear to oppose the bill.
Due to the concern of it appearing on the agenda again, contact your reps if you have not already.

It's Official, HB 1016 has Passed
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 04/11/2011 - 15:55This afternoon Governor Gregoire signed HB 1016, the suppressor bill into law. It passed the senate overwhelmingly as well as the house.
What this means:
- 90 days from
nowthe end of session this law will go into effect. At that time you will be legally able to discharge any suppressor you legally own under the NFA. You're good as of July, 23rd. - No longer must you go out of state to protect your ears and use a common safety device, we finally won this skirmish here in Washington.
Next on the docket from the people who did more of the leg work is a change to allow SBRs. As that moves forward I will keep you all up to date.
Thank you to everyone who wrote in and contacted their legislators to help make this happen.

A Most Excellent Dinner
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 04/10/2011 - 14:34The wife informed me last night that steak was on the menu but neither of us were sure exactly what kind of steak we wanted. To the freezer we went, where I promptly grabbed a package of T-Bones and I then began the process of cleaning the grill from it’s winter slumber.
After some scrubbing, cleaning, and a new coat of seasoning onto the cast iron we were ready. Here’s the result:
The steak was a wonderful medium rare, the asparagus and carrots were excellent. It helps they were pan fried using bacon fat instead of butter along with a couple fresh cloves of garlic. The dry rub combined with a mix BBQ sauce basting towards the end kept it juicy. You can definitely tell the cow was grass fed instead of grain fed when you bite in. The Spumante was great, sadly the sulfites started to get the wife at the end because she liked it as well.
It was a great way to kick off the beginning of the grilling season again. Sadly the weather switched back to cold and overcast. I’ve decided to risk it and am now taking the snow blower off the tractor and putting the mower deck back on.

Helping Mother Gaia One Step at a Time
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 04/09/2011 - 14:36Last October the wife, a friend, and I headed out to the Boomershoot site to help Joe with some work. Joe previously covered it here. As I was going through pictures today, I noticed I took about 1350 pictures while we were out there and I never did a post on it. That just seems kind of wrong. Though it does appear the wife just held down the shutter button while I was on the dozer.
As this was on 10/10/10 which evidently was some environmentalists wet dream of an idea for some such crap or another we felt like doing our part to help the environment.
Ford Earthfucker Jr. with a quite literally earth fucking dozer. The actual goals for the day was to get some pre-winter work done to aid the berm so it will be more comfortable for the end positions come the end of the month. Here’s a few of the pictures from the process.

Overheard at Work Today
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 18:30This had quote of the day written all over today.
“Of course they want that, but we live in a world of gravity, friction, and taxes.”
It’s amazing how many people don’t seem to understand this, especially those who know nothing about engineering.

What lists are you on?
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 04/07/2011 - 17:32So Robb posted something about government lists yesterday. It is another example of the government discriminating and criminalizing those who might disagree with them. Here is the list Bill Quick created:
So how does a person qualify as a potential domestic terrorist? Based on the training I have attended, here are characteristics that qualify:
- Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
- Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
- Survivalist literature (fictional books such as “Patriots” and “One Second After” are mentioned by name)
- Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
- Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
- Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
- Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
- Homeschooling
- Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
- Belief in a New World Order conspiracy
So like Robb most of that list for me is a big fat yes. About the only real things on that list that I am not currently a part of and will not be in the future is the “New World Order” conspiracy. Which makes sense since according to some people, the fact that I’m a Freemason makes me a part of the New World Order. But that’s a completely different story, suffice it to say I fit every single one of those brackets, and I don’t doubt the fact I’m a Freemason probably counts against me when it comes to the government.
Previously we saw how the DHS was labeling different groups of individuals and how they were being classified as terrorists. What is most disturbing though from that PDF that was released was how they described lawful acts as being grounds for being classified as extremists.
It is becoming apparent that the only way to stay off any list at this point is to be a blindly following sheep. If you do not have blind faith for the government to protect you, provide for you, and that it is completely infallible and will not fail you are on a list.
Couple that with a license to handle and manufacture explosives, a blog for the world to see, and other lists many have had to volunteer information to remain law abiding, there is no longer a way to escape being on a list. The best you can do is to be in the middle or towards the bottom. If you’re at the top, you’re just the canary in the coal mine.

When it rains, it pours
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 04/06/2011 - 18:30So, I took a working lunch today so I could leave work early. The downside of that is I have to drive through downtown Pullman at the height of rush hour. Right now I’m really wishing I had just worked late and put in the extra time.

Anal Probes, Not just by Aliens Anymore
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 04/05/2011 - 19:46Apparently the State Department is looking at changing the application information requirements for a US Passport.
If you plan to apply for a passport and you don't have rock-solid proof of citizenship, you might soon be asked to fill out an insanely detailed passport application, form DS-5513, by the State Department before you can receive your papers.
Among the information that will be required to obtain your passport is the following:
- Birthplace and dates for parents, siblings, and spouse.
- Mothers address the year prior, year of, and year after your birth.
- Name of the natal doctor and dates of her appointments.
- Names of those who attended your birth.
- Addresses of all places in and out of the US you have lived since birth.
- Your entire employment history, with supervisors and contact information
- All the schools you attended with addresses and dates.
I could probably write up a nice spiel on how this rectal exam is pointless and only serves to harass honest citizens, instead I’m just going to point out the irony.
Mr. Obama, can you please provide the above documentation considering your proof of citizenship has been deemed questionable.
- Some are not fully sure of your moms location before, during and after your birth.
- No one knows the name of the doctor present at your birth, the certificate of live birth doesn’t contain the signature of the attending physician as a birth certificate does.
- Some are not sure which hospital in Hawaii saw your birth.
- Can you provide your entire employment history?
- Your school records are sealed.
If you are going to require it of any citizen, it shall be required of ALL public servants. Just because they may only require this of some citizens doesn’t exempt them from having to do it themselves. To require it of one, they should have to be willing to go through it themselves.

This is my shocked face…
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 04/04/2011 - 19:04Dave Hardy over at Of Arms and the Law just posted something that has me completely non-shocked.
Of what a prosecutor friend once told me -- that he was appalled to think of how all the power given a prosecutor these days could be used to entire ruin an honest man, or one who had made some minor error. Here's a case from the 11th Circuit, applying what appears to be established law, holding that the prosecutor and his agents are mostly protected by absolute or lesser forms of immunity from a civil rights lawsuit.
My dad always told me a couple things regarding the law.
- There is no correlation between the law and justice.
- Prosecutors live by the mantra, “It takes a good prosecutor to convict a guilty man, it takes a great prosecutor to convict an innocent one.”
Recently Uncle posted about a DA offering bonuses to prosecutors who hit conviction targets. I’m seriously beginning to wonder if they are using convictions to just strip honest people of their rights and make them subservient to the state.

I guess I’m Cynical
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 04/03/2011 - 16:09When I read the following all I could think was, that’s a good start.
I wouldn’t shed a tear if any and every last entitlement program was dead ended tomorrow. Even more than that, I would prefer to see every government investment program done in as well. The way investments work is risk and reward system. The government programs have absolutely no risk, yet they promise huge payouts. The question becomes how do they afford this? That is quite simple, the government covers it’s losses by the use of force collecting the funds required from the those who pay taxes.
Government is force, those who vote receive entitlements from government are merely asking the government to steal on their behalf.

Do as I say not as I do!
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 04/01/2011 - 18:38Yet another example of the exemption the political class provide themselves when it benefits them became apparent today, this time with regards to “green” policy.
As Leftlane pointed out in the original article about Obama’s new energy plan, there was already a loophole of sorts that would allow E85 approved vehicles including full-size SUVs to qualify as “advanced technology vehicles,” but now a new announcement by the U.S. Secret Service has revealed that federal vehicles used in certain capacities will also be exempt from the law.
These are the same people who have outlawed your standard incandescent light bulbs. The government has no business being a nanny forcing people to expend money on a particular product. If a homeowner wants to pay a higher electricity bill that’s his business. Frankly I find CFLs considerably worse for the environment given the heavy metals, lead, and other materials required for manufacturing. A CFL is actually hazardous waste, how many are going to be thrown out as standard garbage? Couple this with the fact that fluorescent lights give many people headaches, lack of color quality for photography, and their inability to be used with dimmer circuits, you have to wonder why anyone would force this issue.
It ends up it was political. Doing this provided the excuse GE needed to close the last light bulb manufacturing plant they had in the states and move the work to China. Remember the CEO of GE is buddies with Obama, and they escaped their tax burden for the year.
Anyone who thinks that “green” policies are done for the environment, wake the hell up please. Politicians are using it to gain power. You lead by doing, these people aren’t leading, they are forcing us to do this and it doesn’t actually benefit us or the environment. I think Dogbert said it best.
What is really sad though is some would actually believe what Dogbert says in the second frame would actually be possible; laws of thermodynamics be dammed.

Stupid, stupid birdie
