More Like Him Please
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 10/31/2011 - 15:04A woman was attacked, thankfully the attack wasn't fully successful. What is awesome though is the response from the county Sheriff.
Wright said, "It's too bad someone with a concealed weapons permit didn't walk by. That would fix it." He said people are tired of doing the right thing and criminals getting away with their actions.
He said several times, "I want you to get a concealed weapons permit."
The icing on the cake though was his closing statement.
I gave my wife a firearm as a wedding present. Not only that but I also actively encouraged her to shoot and get her CPL. This picture from Oleg also states the subject quite well.

It pleases me that a sheriff is actively encouraging his constituents to arm themselves. More like him please!

Previously there was a discussion for what music would you want playing as you run out of ammunition in a fight with zombies. This one is currently at the top of that list, for now anyway.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 10/31/2011 - 05:00The officer has been fired from the department due to an "unrelated" incident of filling his private vehicle using the department credit card. Because someone corrupt like that could never do the following after the complaint above.
Evidently he wanted to take some of her undergarments from home as well. For those who might take the complaints as being he said she said, history is on the side of the person filing the complaint.
Not to mention the hunting violations that the article goes on to detail that were committed by the officer. Such a wonderful set of morals and hiring requirements that department has.

SSCC #158 - Vermont State Police
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 13:23Because someone who isn't really aware of whats going on but just knows that the world he knows is being upended is totally in need of a shot with a Taser. The only outcome of this was that Vermont has altered it's policy on the use of force with a taser. The officer involved however has not been disciplined or removed from duty.
As The Minutewoman is currently working with people such as the victim and I have spent a lot of time around them it bugs the living hell out of me when I see crap like this. Seriously I wouldn't mind seeing that damn taser disappear due to the attitude cops place towards it.

Radio, Radio, and More Radio
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 17:14Saturday ended up considerably busier than expected. Initially I had just planned to help with the ARES exercise, but it ended up they were making a trip up to the Kamiak radio site. I went along to help since I hadn’t seen the radio site.
That’s the tower with the KABARA Repeater Antennas, as well as the packet system we were up there to work on. Next to it is that tower is KWSU.
Inside the radio shack was some impressive equipment for the KABARA system, more specifically a pair of duplexers for the 6-meter repeater.

SSCC #157 - NYPD
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 05:00How messed up is that. Remember we're all equal under the law unless you know some body. They're caught though, how is this really a fully sponsored criminal I hear you ask. Well for starters they haven't all been fired yet. Second:
All I can say is fire them. Fire every last stinking one of them. Unequal application of the law is the first sign of tyrrany. They felt that the law didn't apply to their family or friends as it does apply to the rest of the public.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 157: NYPD - This is a blanket because they feel it's their right to do this. There's too damn many to count.

SSCC #156 - NYPD
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 10/28/2011 - 05:00The victim was denied an appearance before a judge. Was denied access to the facilities. As this was all going on she was berated as if she was lying about the incident with no evidence to the contrary.
She said detectives insisted she had been shot during a lovers' quarrel.
"They were trying to get me to say it was my friend who shot me," recalled Griffin, who is seeking $5 million from the city.
"He never had a gun," she said. "I told them he was gay; we had gone to a gay club the night before."
The friend offered to take a lie detector test and submit to a gunshot residue test on his hands, she said. He was released that morning; she was held.
To add further insult to injury there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest that was a clerical error. This was corrected, but not until she was finally able to see a judge.
The only problem I have with the monetary settlements like this is it's paid by the police departments insurance company. It should be taken out of the pockets of the officers involved as well as their superiors. This includes going all the way up the path to the chief.

SSCC #155 - Chicago PD
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 10/27/2011 - 05:00Guess this guy and Officer Roid Rage share a few chromosomes.
In the video, Flint Farmer was lying on the grass between the curb and the sidewalk. It was shortly before 2 a.m. on a June morning in the West Englewood neighborhood, and Farmer had been shot by a Chicago police officer. Then, according to the video, the veteran officer, Gildardo Sierra, stepped onto the parkway and walked a semicircle about the prone Farmer as three bright flashes went off.
...
The flashes, captured by a police car video camera, were fatal shots fired into Farmer's back, officials say.
Don't worry though folks because he can sleep like a baby. You know why?
Sierra told investigators he feared for his life because he believed Farmer had a gun.
In fact, Farmer was only holding a cellphone.
Ends up the victim only had a cellphone, but no worries for the officer because the department still ruled the use as justified. Never mind the fact that this is the third shooting this officer was involved in within a year. The second which resulted in a fatality.
If a man prone on the ground with a cellphone makes you in fear for your life, you're in the wrong job field moron. Even if he had a gun on his person that doesn't make that a justified shoot. There was nothing about the victim that stated he was a threat to the officer, doubly so considering he was shot in the back. The feds are investigating this now as the officer has been involved in multiple shootings over a short period of time.
Sierra claims the video only shows part of the incident, frankly I don't give a shit. You're career as an officer should be over. You shot an unarmed man who was prone on the ground in the back.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 155: Gildardo Sierra
Because being on the Chicago PD means you can kill someone prone on the ground that is unarmed and the department will justify it. Chicago PD is it's own execution squad.

Quote of the Day - DaddyBear (10/27/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 10/27/2011 - 13:00Yeah, the rich are getting richer faster than the poor are. Anyone want to admit that it's not because of their race, or their family tree, or their political connections that they got that way? My guess is that most of them got that way because they got up every day, worked themselves to death, and got to bed late after putting everything they had into their job or their business.
[Seriously go read the whole thing. There were numerous parts that I wanted to use as the quote of the day, I felt this one worked the best. The bottom line is he's right, these spoiled children think they're poor and disadvantaged, yet they have iPhones, laptops, food, and water. These people think they're poor when in reality relative to the rest of the world they have life easy.
My wife is working her ass off right now, and so am I. When we're not working on our day jobs that have a solid steady pay, we're working on side work for extra income. I am sleeping about like I did in college right now. The reason being is I'm spending the rest of that time working on the blog or other web/software ventures, or working on products to tie to those ventures.
I haven't had a chance to work on t-shirt ideas lately since I'm working on getting the shop back up and running. My goal is to find a way to mass produce a couple things I have designed and built for my own personal use. I don't want anyone to hand me anything. What I do want is for people to leave me to the results of my labor. Saying someone should share the wealth when they are working 10 hour days, plus another 4 hours on pet projects at home is bull crap. Why should someone who doesn't work be paid for doing nothing by the person who does?
Leave me to profit from my labors and ideas. Stop trying to redistribute my wealth! -B]

A Personal Discovery
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 10/27/2011 - 15:38Those that know me and spend time around me know that I carry anywhere I am legally allowed. This isn't a joke and it isn't an exaggeration. Going to the store, grab the gun. Going to visit a friend, grab the gun. Heading out on the boat, grab the gun. Getting dressed in the morning to do work around the house, grab the gun. To me carrying a firearm is as common as carrying a wallet or watch. As it should be.
I do this for a couple different reasons.
- The burden on my belt is much lighter than the burden of regret.
- Because I can.
- Because there is no advantage to myself by not carrying.
- Because it's my right.
- Because being prepared should not be frowned upon
So last night at the ham radio meeting it was business as usual. I was sitting rubbing my forehead because of a sinus headache while two members to my right were having a conversation. I was openly carrying my 1911 on a OWB holster so it was quite visible. Since I was in Idaho my give a crap meter was at about -20, even in Washington it registers only about a 1 until I get to the West side.
All of the sudden I head one of the men go, "Sir are you wearing a side arm?" I look up at him with a half cocked smile and say, "Yes sir, I am." Usually that is about the end of a conversation but he was a little more persistent than most and responded with, "Why are you carrying a side arm?" It currently was a polite question and certainly reasonable. I just politely responded, "Because I can." At this point he was shocked that I would carry a weapon and his voice showed it because he repeated the same question with a tone of disdain in his voice.
At this point I had a personal revelation. That type of behavior will place me in threeper mode at a speed otherwise only known to photons. Because I didn't think, I didn't blink, my face just went stern and I looked right at him and calmly but without any hesitation said, "Because it's my god given right."
That was the end of the conversation. He no longer pressed me, he no longer talked to me with disdain in his voice. I don't know if he was just inquisitive and it came off wrong it's hard to say. Considering he halted his current conversation to focus on my sidearm it's hard for me to think he was really just generally inquisitive.
That is the first time I've ever climbed the "threeper hill" and used the it's my right argument. I will say in this case it was quite effective and given my headache at the moment I liked it's nuke the site from orbit effect. That said I prefer a much more tactical approach to sway people, but it has now been established that if you treat me as a substandard person for carrying a gun, I will go threeper on your ass.
Doubly entertaining was about 5 minutes later another buddy of mine showed up to the meeting and was open carrying as well. The icing on the cake was we were both sitting next to each other. I'm not sure if the guy noticed or not, I really don't care. But I wasn't the only one in the room any more and it made it all the better. Sadly the wife was busy so she wasn't with me, otherwise she would have been open carrying her's as well.

On those NUBs Occupying Space
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 10/26/2011 - 15:00I pretty much have written them off as nothing more than another reason to invest in metals such as Lead, Copper, and Brass. At least this movement has the benefit of gathering all those NUBs* together into one common location to make them more easily identifiable.
Surfing through my news blotters today I stumbled across an article in the Huffpost that made me start laughing uncontrollably.
It is often said that Democracy is nothing more than two wolves and a sheep getting together to decide what's for dinner. It appears that the Occupy movement is finally getting a solid lesson in what Democracy is, mob rule, where to win a debate you just need to sway the ignorant.
Earlier last week it came out that the leadership and operation of the movement was doing many of the very things they were protesting against Wallstreet for. Including having a tax man taking from part of the group. The group that was taxed was ignored by the remaining part of the Occupy group and is not given the support they require.
Not to mention that a bunch of the protesters learned what it was like to have people come and claim their personal property as belonging to the public [commune].
The article then goes on to point out how they have people freeloading within their borders and there's nothing they can do about it other than just deal with it. That all sounds really freaking familiar you know that? The only support they get from me is that I support their right to speak and peaceably assemble. That said, I have serious problems with the property damage and costs these individuals are inflicting on those who do not support them or their cause. It is not the job of the public to pay for their protest. It is for those latter reasons I do not consider it a peaceably assembly and while it is certainly possible that the police have used excessive force I'm disappointed it's taken them this long to start throwing the bums out.
So when I saw this at the end of the first article:
I immediately started wondering what could be done as a response this time around. Last year for the 10/10/10 green BS we went and made Mother Gaia our bitch. Some of you might not be in the area, feel free to come up with your own methods of flipping the bird to the Occupy whatever movement. Looks like I need to email some people to see what we can come up with.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 10/26/2011 - 05:00Looks like Bloomberg has another loophole to close, called the NYPD loophole.
Since these officers were caught in a sting operation should I really count them. The answer is an unequivocal yes.
Arresting fellow law enforcers in a corruption case "is a heartbreaking thing," Bharara added.
It should be the opposite of heartbreaking. The reason being is that law enforcement should be leading by example and that anyone willing to violate the law should be held equally accountable. If Officer Joe Bob, and Plumber Joe Bob should receive the exact same treatment under the law and the prosecutor should feel no pain whatsoever about holding them accountable. If there's so many laws that officers are regularly breaking them, maybe the should be pulled off the books if they're not really there for the public good.

They Say it as if That's a Bad Thing
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 07:30Mr. Schneider, you say the following like it's a bad thing.
The Police are representatives of the government and most certainly the government should not be trusted. It is a necessary evil. Police are there to investigate crimes after they have been committed and as we can see by my count, they are not all angels with halos*.
Ultimately a cop is not your friend. Most definitely he is not if he's investigating a crime. If you learn to not trust someone by the observation of them doing their job, that should be considered a clue.
*As I've said before, not all cops are bad, look at the nice conversation I had in June. A cop though is not your friend and if you provide information indicating you've possibly committed a crime, he can nail you for it. That's why you don't talk to the police. If I have a conversation with an officer I make sure it's on my terms and I ease into it to get a feeling for the officer. That conversation I had above, was started by me in the open in a manner that left me free to leave at any time. Cops can be friendly, they can be nice, but what they do for a living can interfere with your ability to trust them. It's a fact of life.

A Facepalmable Moment
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 13:05So yesterday I got an email about an emergency exercise this weekend asking for help. Local coordinator needs some help at Whitman County dispatch.
Unsurprisingly they wanted my information in advance to clear me into the building. I just got an email from the coordinator. Included in it was the response to him from the dispatch center.
Subject: RE: ARES Quarterly Exercise 10/29 Date: Tue, 25 Oct 2011 18:26:49 +0000
Ok but I want to emphasize, there is absolutely no weapons allowed in or near the dispatch center. That being said, I will make sure the dispatch center knows you will be allowed into the building.
Now I know someone probably noted that I have a CPL on my background check. Now for those of you from outside the area, here's why this is a facepalmable moment.
This incident occurred in May 2007, and the whole incident took place less just over 10 miles by road from where the dispatch is. In this incident officer Lee Newbill was killed as well as a civilian who responded to aid the officer. During the incident Whitcom actually took over emergency communications for Latah county.
There is first hand experience for the area, even this dispatch center, that the disarmament does nothing to actually make anyone safer. Yet instead of learning from that lesson and how ineffective it was at protecting people they continue the illusion. Not only do they continue the illusion, but ignore the fact that the person they're admitting is statistically more likely to be law abiding than the general population.
So I will bite my tongue and leave it locked up. I will have the most important tool still with me, I just hate leaving the most effective accessory for use with the most important tool.
*As a random thought, I doubt they saw my ATF paperwork for explosives. I don't see why the state records would indicate it, but I can't help but laugh at what the response would have been if they had.

Welcome to Gattaca
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Mon, 10/24/2011 - 06:00Apparently, people now, in the US, have the ability to screen their future offspring In vitro and choose which embryo to keep and which to "discard". Not only can gender be selected, but genetic diseases can be tested for and culled out by not choosing the vulnerable embryos.
People seem to want this ability without realizing the consequences of their own actions. When I read the article, a particular movie came to mind. Gattaca, despite being science-fiction, is scary on the basis that it is indeed plausible. Steps are being taken to lead us in that direction. It is getting harder and harder to have a natural birth in hospitals. Doctors feel it is safer for a woman to give birth via Cesarean section (though i think they are just thinking about their pocketbooks). Pretty soon, it this keeps up, women will not be able to have a natural conception, let alone a natural birth if they so please. With the government spreading its grimy little fingers into every facet of our daily lives, it would not surprise me if the new healthcare will start to require In vitro fertilization and screening. To "ease" the requirements of the public health system. Next thing you know, you won't be able to exchange any bodily fluids without a permit to do so. As one will have to be screened as fit for reproduction.
Just as in Gattaca, embryos will be screened for genetic superiority and if a child is conceived and born by natural means, that child will be classified inferior, provided the pregnancy is even allowed to go to term. What better way to induce someone into wanting to get an abortion if there is no way to obtain health insurance for their child. The only way to make it anywhere in life will be through registration as a genetically superior being.
Stop playing God, all it does is allow discrimination of the "lesser beings".

Then, when you think this situation couldn't possibly get any worse.
See, that is what firearm "destruction" programs bring to the table. The ability to provide black market firearms to people who are otherwise ineligible for ownership. This wasn't the first time this individual did that, and I'm sure she is by no means the first person to ever do such a thing. She certainly won't be the last.
If under the current law* someone becomes ineligible to have their firearm returned to them, the department should sell it to an FFL. At least selling it to an FFL would provide a paper trail to follow with independent verification. Please note, you do not actually have to have committed a crime with a firearm to have it confiscated and taken into evidence. What's worse is they can confiscate your firearms when you are charged with another crime. In those cases a person loses thousands of dollars in property, while due process is followed, that's a property loss a non-firearm owner doesn't deal with. How silly could a situation like that be since a person who would loose his rights to firearms must be a violent criminal, right!?.

If you can't be deemed to be safe with a firearm, you can't be safe with a car, saw, or any other tool that just as easily works as a weapon. But that's not the law as it currently sits.

Here's what bugs me the most. There were 15 different residents affected by this raid, they detained people including a child purely because of their ethnicity. This incident shows exactly what the Department of Homeland Security thinks of the Constitution and the law. Just look at the VIPR program and the fact the TSA is now searching people traveling by bus as well as harassing truckers. How long until they start stopping you on the way to work? I would like to point out the double standard of the ALCU here. They are more than happy to go after ICE over these incidents involving immigration, yet they sit on their hands when it comes to warrant-less searches during travel.

Fast and Furious, Root Cause Analysis
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 10/22/2011 - 13:10Currently Eric Holder is screaming that the cause of guns going into Mexico was because of a "lack of gun control." There's one problem with that though, it is totally false. Not only is that statement blatantly false but given the evidence gun control is what allowed those guns to walk to Mexico. While it may seem humorous and a joke, the fact is it's true.
I have largely been silent on Fast and Furious for one major reason. There are a lot of other people covering it much better and more in depth than I possibly could.
To start off for those who may be familiar with the term, root cause analysis is something used in engineering to identify problems to come up with solutions that don’t just hide the problem. Ultimately proper root cause analysis should trace the problem to a point where you can turn the issue on and off like a light switch. Now we're going to trace back through the events and find the point where we can turn this issue that would turn this problem on and off.

The Myth of Giving them What They Want
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 06:00Often we hear the anti-rights cultists tout how you should just give an attacker what they want. We hear them claim, "Nothing is worth taking someone's life over." While most could sympathize with that statement it ignores a couple very basic fundamental things with regard to someone attacking someone else.
It is also known that the blogosphere is one big circlejerk or a reverberation chamber. Consider this a reverberation in F# to the tune of:
- The attacker is looking to steal only property.
Property has a monetary value and you can easily make that comparison except for one serious flaw. The attacker has ruled your life worth less than the monetary value of the object they're stealing. You have worked a portion of your life to purchase that object and they are stealing that part of your life. Not only are they stealing your life, but in attacking you they are willing to take the rest of your life to obtain it. What if the attacker stealing your property also has a rule of leaving no witnesses.
- The attacker is only seeking monetary gain for his personal benefit.
If this were true the following stories would have never occurred.
This woman reacted in defense of her children. The man wanted not just something of monetary value, but the woman's child as well. What would the anti-rights cultists suggest she do? Let her child be kidnapped by someone of such high and impeccable moral character as a man who would rob a convenient store and steal a child? Odds would greatly weigh against the safe recovery of the child at that point, but I guess the criminal's life is worth more than the child right!? Just let the cops do their job and your child will be fine.
Or this story, where again the subject of the attack was nothing of monetary value but that of a woman's virtue.
There's the numerous methods from the antis about how a woman can defend herself against rape. My personal favorite was telling women to vomit on themselves. There is a much better solution and it results in a safety improvement for women everywhere. Shoot the bastard. A cops response averages about 88fps(60 MPH) at best from a distance measure in miles. A .45 ACP will be there at 850fps from a distance measured in yards at most. Guess which will reach the attacker first. It will also make for damn sure he can never do it to another woman ever again. Many times though the mere presence of force will cause the attacker to seek a new victim. Attackers want easy prey that is safe for them, the are out to inflict pain on others, not to have their victim fight back.
Which brings me to my third story that seems right out of Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange.
These kids went out and assaulted and beat an old man because they knew him to be an easy victim, unable to defend himself unarmed against people a 1/4 his age. Their victim selection in this case was lucky because when the elderly man is armed, all the sudden the field is leveled .
All three of those cases there was nothing to give the attacker but the life of their child, their virtue, or lastly their own life. When one attempts to execute harm to another unprovoked, the attacker has stated that their victim's worth is 0. They have no value on your life, so why are you attempting to provide a value to theirs? The lives of your family, your virtue, and your life should be weighted as priceless. A person attacking you is not worth more than your own life.
These cases illustrate the absurdity of the assumptions and their complete lack of understanding. They are attempting to take a very large complex subject and provide a black and white lens to view it through. Not only that though they are trying to state there is no black in their world, only white.
In all three of those incidents our criminal occupational hazard reduction organizations would wish that the attacker succeeded with their attacks. The victim has less rights than the criminal in their world view. The problem is, a criminal has surrendered all his rights in attempting to violate the sovereignty of another human being. A citizen has the right to defend themselves from attack using any means of force possible. If the criminal would rather remain unventilated, I invite him to stay his ass home and leave people alone. If he continues to prey upon the citizenry, may he one day make a victim selection failure and pay the permanent irrevocable costs for his sins and transgressions against his fellow man.
The myth that giving an attacker what they want will be safe for you is totally false as people have died doing just that. The myth that it's not just worth killing someone over is false, your attacker feels you're worth killing for it. So remember, when someone tells you to just give them what they want and you'll be fine, they're lying. Not only are they lying, but the care more about the criminal than they do you. That's a really friendly thing to do right there, side with the person who wishes you and your family harm.

SSCC #140-141 - Fullerton PD
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 10/20/2011 - 05:00Fullerton is back in the count again after their previous twin entry. This incident however provides more than a single incident but lays the frame work for exposing a habit of repeated abuses by the Fullerton PD.
A 23-year-old Fullerton College student was allegedly arrested on false charges of public drunkenness in August of 2008 and then beat up by a Fullerton police officer, according to a Friends For Fullerton's Future blog post.
Remember Eddie Quiñonez? He also says he was arrested for drunkennes, even though he was sober, and then roughed up by a cop.
Moving beyond just the false arrest it becomes obvious that this officer was looking for some personal entertainment. The officers response to the person who had already placed his hands behind his back?
Then the officers proceeded to drive around slamming on the breaks and gas so the mans head would continually hit the divider in the vehicle. The Fullerton police department is obviously out of control and shows absolutely no personal restraint or respect for the rights of it's citizens.
Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three or more is enemy action. That first article listed to independent incidents, my first post had two independent instances. Fullerton PD has decided to jump the rails and become the enemy of the public at large. If you live there and are reading this, you have been warned. My suggestion is to seek the support of a federal investigation, that seems to be the only way to get some of these places to clean themselves up.

The only reason Mr. Lincoln's case against succession is correct in your eye is because the Union army won. Had the confederacy won, would you make the case that solidified the right to succession. You're lack of a case became obvious at the following:
Easy for you crumpet eating tea swilling ass hats to come to America and call that no big deal when you and your ancestors were provided the representation. Further that list of grievances is not trival and is a list of actions that grossly neglect and constitute a breach of contract between the government and the governed. Government derives it's power from the consent of the people, the British lost the consent to the government of the American people. Unexpectedly the British would view this action as treasonous, hence Franklin's comment:
“We must all hang together or most assuredly we will all hang separately.”
It was well known at the time the British considered that treason. A revolution like that had never happened in the history of the world. The idea that the Declaration could be considered null and void went right out the window when Lord Conwallis surrendered at Yorktown. At that point the Declaration was fully ratified since the British did not have the ability to try and execute us as the treasonous rats they felt us to be.
Take your ball and go home you tea swilling, self-defense hating, morons. For more of my thoughts on the Declaration of Independence, Independence day, and the Lee Resolution, visit the links.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 10/19/2011 - 05:00A former New York narcotics detective has testified it was common practice to fabricate drug charges against innocent people to meet arrest quotas.

Anderson was arrested for planting cocaine, a practice known as "flaking," on four men in a Queens bar in 2008 to help out a fellow officer, Henry Tavarez, whose "buy-and-bust" arrests had been low, the newspaper reported.
Words fail to describe the so many problems with this. The worst part of this is that it wasn't the first time, and it most certainly wont be the last. So yeah, he went without the teleprompters as planned? I will point out his discussion with the students was without a prompter, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on the validity of that claim. Booger Hook Off the Bang Switch
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 10/18/2011 - 14:50A San Bernardino school district police officer accidentally fired his gun inside the district Police Department building this morning, but no one was wounded.
...
"An officer was doing a routine inspection of his firearm and it accidentally discharged one round," said district spokeswoman Linda Bardere.
Keep your booger hook off the bang switch. If you feel like touching the trigger when it's not necessary, just push that sucker right up your nose.
I know some firearms require you to exercise the trigger mechanism when getting ready to clean your weapon. However one should thoroughly clear that the weapon is empty prior to dropping the hammer/striker. Also make sure to drop the mag before ejecting the round in the chamber. Less you clear the round to just chamber a new one. You are responsible for every round you fire, even if you didn't mean to. Luckily in this case no one was hurt.
This little incident just goes to show that our "anointed" officers can and do make mistakes.

[This is one of my annoyances that piss me off like no other. The reason it pisses me off is because much of the complaints and issues that occur around the holidays are merely intolerance masquerading as tolerance. I really don't give a crap what you believe and you can celebrate it however you want.
Where I do get annoyed is when you disagree with someone's beliefs and use your disagreement to force your beliefs down someone else's throat. I have friends who are little a atheists and they're awesome. I have other friends who are Jewish and seriously many of my friends run the gamut of religions. The one thing all my friends have in common is none of them bash the others for their beliefs or faith. Just because you see a nativity during Christmas doesn't make you a Christian, just the same as seeing a menorah during Hanuka doesn't make you Jewish. I had a roommate in college who was a capital C christian growing up who then became a capital A atheist. That guy was the most annoying, intolerant, asshat I have ever met. Every group has their vitrol spewing, bigoted, haters.
Often we hear about the ACLU coming into town telling people to roll up the sidewalks and decorations because someone is offended. Here's a suggestion, climb down off your cross, tear it down, and use the wood to build a bridge and get over yourself. I don't care if there's X - display on city property, your neighbors property, or your property. While I'm not a big fan of city's buying decorations, it's wasteful spending, but some times the city just allows the use of the land for a donated display. The result of these complaints is a poo slinging fest which makes all sides look bad, most especially the one that started the complaint. It also goes to destroy what most of the displays are done to help foster, community.
The bottom line is complaining about some display because you don't like it because it's not your faith, or absence of faith, is intolerance no matter how you cut it. In Jay's case it appears the haters are spreading to Thanksgiving and Halloween. -B]

Again the local law enforcement refused to take responsibility for reigning in its out of control officer. Prosecutors refused to punish the officer despite evidence of wrong doing. Remember, the best way to get away with being a criminal is to be a cop. This isn't to say that all cops are criminals, but the record shows that their punishment is much more lax, and are less likely to be held accountable for their actions. Honestly the reverse should be true considering one leads by example.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 10:49I heard about this a while back but hadn't heard anything about it since. Well there was an update today. Given the gravity of it, today's a double SSCC.
A federal judge in Detroit has dismissed a lawsuit against the U.S. government over the wreck of a $750,000 Ferrari driven by an FBI agent.
Judge Avern Cohn said in his recent decision that the crash of the 1995 F50 sports car was "certainly unfortunate," but cited a law making the government immune to lawsuits when property is in custody of law enforcement.
Never mind the fact that it was the FBI driving the vehicle. What if that car had wrapped its self around a school bus? The bottom line is there is this thing called responsibility and this immunity crap is making sure no one can be held responsible for poor decisions.
The car had been stolen and given the fact that insurance had paid the owner for the loss of the car it belonged to the insurance company. Said agent then took it for a test drive and wrapped it around a tree, destroying property that was not his.
Remember, the government exists to protect their employees when they break the law.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 05:00No matter how you cut this, this was a despicable act that resulted in the death of an innocent person.
No place could that be considered reasonable force. It is doubly despicable the actions the department took to protect their officer. Including throwing out other witness testimony that was unfavorable to the officer. There is no question that the officer is guilty of at minimum negligent homicide. His actions were taken without a thought or care to the rights of the victim. His actions immediately after the assault guaranteed his death. Even if this man was guilty the actions taken after illustrate the belief he was judge jury and executioner.
While he his now facing a trial, it was brought about by a federal investigation since local law enforcement refused to act and punish him. For that, he's still a state sponsored criminal.

Why having an Anointed Class Doesn't Work.
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 06:00Many of the anti-rights cultists tout how police officers are the only one's who should be anointed with the ability to carry a firearm. They claim this comes from numerous factors including their extensive training, self-control, and their general infallibility.
The training argument will be ignored today with the exception of the following comment.
Many civilians receive equal if not better training through their own funding. Many civilians spend more on ammunition in a month that many officers will in their entire career. The assumption that a police officer is some how magically more qualified by training is false. Not to mention the fact that training has no bearing on the exercise of a Constitutionally protected inalienable right. No one has to attend a training class before they can exercise their right of free speech.
The argument about their general infallibility has been covered quite well in the state sponsored criminal count. This list doesn't even focus on the incidences where officers have been caught and convicted, but centers around officers getting away with illegal or being provided unfair treatment under the law.
So instead this article is going to focus on self-control. Numerous incidents have occurred as of late illustrating that police are human and their position does not provide them a magical exemption that alters their behavior from that of the human condition.
*Note nothing in this article should be construed as my being anti-law enforcement. There are many officers who do an upstanding job and are quite commendable. My goal through this article is to illustrate that there should not be a duality in law to differ between someone who works as a civilian in law enforcement and a normal law abiding citizen.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 05:00Second verse, same as the first. This time a whole lot louder and a whole lot worse.
It appears that rules and laws regarding the application and use of force have changed recently. I can see no reason someone who is handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser needs to be maced and beaten.
That explains the situation. A criminal shouldn't move at all. Never mind the fact that being handcuffed alone is uncomfortable. Not to mention being stuffed in the back of a police cruiser with hard seats and pressure applied by the back on the cuffs and shoulders from sitting.
Couple this with the fact that he was a patrol supervisor and this happened within the plain view of other officers and emergency personal signals this man is a loose cannon.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 10/14/2011 - 16:06That holds true unless you know someone or are the child of someone special.
Which some would just dismiss this since it was just a traffic citation, however the defendant had also failed to appear in court. The whole point of our legal system is that anyone and everyone should and can be held accountable. What isn't right is that those who work within the system are manipulating it to prevent their friends from even being held accountable.

These officers arrested an individual for smoking pot and then did it themselves while the tax payer was footing the bill. The war on nouns only serves to provide a reason to further expand government and law enforcement agencies. It does nothing to protect the public in general. Actually it does quite the opposite by making the general public possible victims of an ill conceived or poorly execute no knock warrant.
The actions of these officers do nothing but to further illustrate at prove why every last war on nouns should disappear. Whether it be guns, drugs, poverty, or any other "nobel" cause. It does nothing but make victims out of what would otherwise be victimless crimes, or perpetuate their condition. It also creates a separate elitist class where the laws do not apply.

My First Car
Submitted by Janelle Barnett on Thu, 10/13/2011 - 06:00Since JayG started it and I actually have a story to tell, here goes nothing.
So here's the meme. Long answers or short.
1. What was your first car? Model, year, color, condition?
2. What adventures did you have in it, good or bad?
3. What happened to it, what's the end of the story?
My first car, bought from my cousin by my parents, was a 2002 Hyundai Accent much like what is pictured here.
It was stick shift and the low profile model. It also was the bare minimum on any extras as in no cruise control. My parents bought it for me after I moved into an apartment from the dorms. Since I had previously lived on campus, I didn’t need a car and my parents said they didn’t want me driving home every weekend. I didn’t have a car in high school, didn’t need one and I didn’t get my license till after I graduated, I didn’t have a use for it. At the time, I felt school was more important than driving.
My first urban driving experience with this car was in Seattle. I was driving up James St., which happens to be very steep, and had to stop in the middle of the hill for a red light. As I was still fairly new at driving a stick I conked the engine when the light turned green. After that, I quickly learned how to play the clutch on hills which came in handy for the WSU campus. If need be, I could easily let it roll more than normal to warn other drivers that were on my tail.
That car was a good little car. That is, until it became known as the coffin on wheels. A car that small up against a fuel tanker carrying 11,000 gallons of fuel, head on, is not a fair fight. The car, to say the least, did not survive.
*Notes below are from Barron, I do not remember the accident or 5 days after the accident. My condition was the same as Drew Barrymore's character in 50 First Dates.* Pictures below could be considered by some to be of a graphic nature. Click read more for pictures.

Well, tell that to the 6 people injured from a shooting in none other than the Beale Street district.
Based on the fact that there are metal detectors, how did someone get through with a gun? Honestly, the detectors are just another form of security theater.
No matter what type of safe guards are in place, if a criminal wants to do something, laws are not going to stop them.
But, but, it can't happen here, we have metal detectors to keep us safe.

The First Car Meme
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 10/12/2011 - 10:44JayG posted a meme this morning that I’ll hop on board with mainly because… well you might notice.
So here's the meme. Long answers or short.
1. What was your first car? Model, year, color, condition?
2. What adventures did you have in it, good or bad?
3. What happened to it, what's the end of the story?
So my first car was a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron my parents bought used in 1996. It looked very much like this.

Those became my primary wheels in 2002 once I finally started driving. I was late to the party since I had no reason to drive anywhere prior, second my parents used my drivers license as leverage to speed me up in getting my Eagle Scout, it didn’t work. I finally bothered to give a crap and get my license so I could go visit the future Minutewoman while she was home on break. The interior was in quite decent shape, though the paint was flaking off by the time I got it.
I had a couple interesting road trips in it. Mainly between the Seattle area and the Palouse where I now reside. The most memorable was a trip where I told the future wife I had to go help my mom with some stuff and I’d be on IM later that night. I then drove the 5 and a half hours and knocked on her dorm room door with roses while wearing a tuxedo. This car was also the source of a personal record for the Pullman Seattle run.
One night on the cross state strip I found a dead deer in the middle of my lane on highway 26. I shaved it’s belly after straddling it. It sprayed entrails all over the firewall and engine block. It stunk to high heaven for about 2 months until the rest of it burned off.
I had a lot of fun in that car and loved it cause it always treated me well. I traded her in because she was starting to burn oil and maintenance bills were increasing expensive. We replaced her with the 2003 Explorer Sport in 2007.

The bottom line here is it just proves the failure of screening processes and gun control. They got lucky this time they caught him carrying the firearm. How many times had he carried into the secure areas unnoticed?
*I am reasonably sure this isn't the first time an incident like this has occurred, however I cannot find any news record for it and I evidently didn't blog it. If you find or know of a previous incident, where a TSA agent was caught unlawfully carrying a firearm, please post it in the comments.

The board's rulings said the city had not proved the three lied intentionally.
So let me get this straight. Officers are giving testimony based on a poorly written report, that they did not write. How is that testimony anything but hearsay since they did not write the report. Any testimony they did give should be based on their knowledge of the situation, not a report written by someone else.
Moving forward though anything they say they should be sure of and know as fact. Their testimony has the potential of ruining peoples lives. The costs of giving false testimony are weightily and should not be taken lightly, intentional or not.
It was their responsibility to verify and authenticate the facts in the case they were presenting. Anything they testified about that was proven to be false they are just as culpable as the fourth who wrote the report.

Because if you’re a cop, you have no responsibility to verify anything prior to acting. If you falsely provide testimony or end up raiding a house where the criminal hasn’t been for 7 years, you will not be held responsible.

Keep Your Mouth Shut When It Comes To Talking To Police
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 10/11/2011 - 20:49Seriously. My dad always told me to keep my mouth shut when it involved the police.
While in shock from my accident, I talked to the police without an attorney. I barely even remember it and don't even know why I did it. I have never remembered the conversation, I just know it happened. The lesson to take home was it did nothing to benefit me. Anything said that would benefit my case is ignored, it is their job to gather evidence against you, nothing more.
Linoge is talking about a book that again provides the recommendation to keep your mouth shut.
The bottom line is this is your life we are talking about. There is no winning a legal battle, in Washington you can currently break even if it's ruled self-defense. But you still lose time, and the cost to you personally will be immense.
If you have a self-defense shooting, keep your mouth shut until you talk to legal representation. Even if it falls well under castle doctrine.

Never Again Volunteer Yourself
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 10/10/2011 - 20:53Just got home after a very long day at work followed by a CAP meeting. A friend in ARES is trying to get some extra senior membership in CAP to help rebuild the squadron. I fit the description. So instead enjoy this quote from a CAP meeting tonight regarding bureaucracy in the government.
Me: That bureaucracy is spelled with a capital B.
Cadet: Umm sir, I think you mean that whole word is capitalized.
Me: As long as we both realize that forms must be in triplicate prior to saving your mother we're both on the same page.
Maybe you just had to be there.

While it was drunken belligerence that created the initial situation, that is no excuse for the force applied to this woman. Force was applied because the officers didn't like being berated by the drunk woman. Last I heard, verbal insults were not a cause to use force, especially force strong enough to break bone. In case you think that maybe the officers might still be clear:
(Emphasis mine) The video shows there was no reason for the use of force, but you'll be glad to know both officers are still on duty. Protecting the public as usual.

He befriended the parents, developed trust in the child, and then utterly violated both. Then he violated the trust given by the public by using public resources to distribute his depravity. The biggest kicker though is the following:

Facts are stubborn things and that video does a wonderful job of laying out the facts. Including previous trends, how they compare historically, and what it means.
The bottom line is the War on Poverty actually creates a system that rewards people for being in poverty. It becomes a vicious circle since those in poverty remain there because their receive more from doing nothing than working to alter their situation.
Watch the video, it’s just shy of 7 minutes and well worth your time.
