SSCC #228 - Denver
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 12/31/2011 - 06:00I'm going to keep an eye on this one for extra updates. It is a SSCC for these blocks emphasis on the second:
So that’s a serious screw up, enough that had it been any civilian there would have been serious jail time involved. DUI and such excessive speeds that it is clearly reckless and beyond just willful negligence.
That’s it!? I passed a car making a poor judgment call because of weather (snow and slush on a poorly maintained road) and was charged with 2 felonies. In a plea deal I plead no-lo on reckless driving and got 160 hours of community service. My license was suspended for a month and I still suffer the effects of the 2 felony charges 6 years later. I made an honest mistake from inexperience, he got drunk and hopped behind the wheel of a car and did 143 MPH because he knew he was a cop and felt he was untouchable. His department fired him as was their right. Officers of the law should be held to at least the same, but higher standard of conduct. If you don't want to be held to a higher standard, don't become an officer.
Then we see this officer has a history of complaints against him.
It was dismissed, though I have a feeling it wasn't because the officer actually didn't do it. The judge enabled this one more than the department did but the police union feels that the department should be sponsoring their criminal hires as well.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 227: Derrick Curtis Saunders
Because if you're anointed, drunk driving is just part of the job, it's just against the law for all those other peons.

Accountabilibuddyable: Louisville KY
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/30/2011 - 16:21One should always try to end the year on a high note, so I was pleased as punch when I saw this come across my twitter feed.
So cop was sleeping with a mans wife and arrested the husband on domestic violence numerous times. It is worth noting that the husband plead guilty to the first incident while prosecutors then dropped the second incident after discovering the relationship. I don't know the details on the plea so it is very well possible that they were going after him for something quite bad and he took the plea in fear. For those who don't think that happens the way it works is prosecutors will often fire well beyond what they can effectively prove in the hopes of getting a plea agreement.
I'm glad to see that it appears the officer in question is liable for the settlement, though he has moved to a new town and it is quite possible he is still a law enforcement officer since he resigned instead of being fired.
Michael Delbert Bonzo is being (mostly) held Accountabilibuddyable. More like this please.
Because if you see a chick you like and she's married, arrest the husband on domestic violence charges. That way you can get some one on one time with her.

SSCC #227 - Fort Worth
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/30/2011 - 10:57Here's another one, this one from Bob S.
A Fort Worth police officer is off the job — not only charged with DWI, but investigators say he was driving around shooting a handgun with a convicted felon.
I do find it interesting that he's not being charged on any other firearms violations than just giving a firearm to a felon. Nothing for the negligence or recklessness involved in the incident. However I did notice this little line.
Officer Gonzalez is 35 years old. He joined the force in 2002. He's been placed on restrictive duty.
Evidently this department has a history of DWI with officers to boot. With 12 since 2008, one of which caused a fatal crash, that averages out to be 3 a year. Then to add further icing to the cake:
More than a dozen Fort Worth police officers have been disciplined for DWI since 2008; many of them were fired, and one of them was responsible for causing a fatal crash.
Many, not all, were fired. Such fine an exemplary men they have in Fort Worth to protect the public from the injuries and deaths caused by DWI.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 226: Officer Daniel Gonzalez

SSCC #226 - Sedgwick County
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 06:00Again with the resignation instead of firing his ass to prevent his employment as a LEO elsewhere. What was this horrible crime that the man committed?
Poole stopped Steven Dye, 63, on July 4 to ticket him for an improper lane change, then accused Dye of resisting arrest and obstructing justice. Dye has filed a notice to seek damages from the sheriff's office and the county for the severe beating he says Poole and another man inflicted after the traffic stop.
And this isn't the first time for this sheriff to be in hot water because of his department either. The same officer injured another individual in a previous arrest.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 226: Darin Poole

Because firing an officer would hamper their employment opportunities so instead just let them resign when they know they've been caught.

Pardon the Drama Llama (hilarious)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 12/28/2011 - 09:48Stumbled across this today which follows under the "Don't Be a Dick" rules. Here's the synopsis from Penny Arcade:
Reading the full email exchange has made me decide I will NEVER buy something from N-Control. Yes the wife may be disabled and could benefit. We understand the power behind voting with our feet and our wallets. The behavior of that PR rep is inexcusable and if that is how the company feels it should be represented they don't need my business. He couldn't even take the time to proof read and spell check his emails.
I do love it when Mike from Penny Arcade got involved and they guy began trying to pass him off as a fly.
Bottom line is though this is why I don't pre-order anything anymore. It's not worth it, you're giving a free loan to the company, and lastly the price of the product falls before it's release. That said, I agree with Dave on his view of how the prepaid customers were treated. It's a risk you run and the company can do as it pleases, however that behavior is definitely unacceptable and is nothing more than an effort to screw their customers.
So again, if that is the way N-Control and Ocean Marketing think customers should be treated, I will not buy or use their products. If N-Control makes a formal apology, with all three parts, and fires Ocean Marketing I might think about getting a controller for the wife to try. If not, we'll find something else and review it instead. Even then I really don't want to because I wasn't aware of N-Control until this explosion. N-Control could leverage this for a win, but right now this is one big bag of fail.
So what other 360 controllers are good for disabled gamers?
*Note to the FCC, F-Off no one paid or supplied anything for this. Besides I'm saying a gigantic "Fuck You" to both the company and PR firm, as well as you ass hats reading this on the taxpayer dime to try and fine me.

SSCC #222 - #225 : Seattle PD
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 12/28/2011 - 08:04A local man called the cops on Seattle officers when he felt a traffic stop was spinning out of control - and the entire incident was captured on a police video that shows the man being yanked from his car and thrown to the ground.
Sound familiar? Well it should because this isn't the first time the Seattle PD has ended up on the count for pulling someone out of a car. It gets better though when you find out that the victim called 911 because the officer was behaving erratically and caught it on the 911 call. The victims attorney nailed this situation on the head though.
Remember, this is the Seattle PD where an officer got away with murder after shooting a deaf man in the back.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 12/26/2011 - 17:03Notice its the city paying for the officers screw up, not the officers responsible. Also note the damage bill is so low the city isn't going to even notice, doubly so since the city insurance will probably pick up the bill.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/25/2011 - 05:00For some reason many people get offended by this day or the oh so many other winter holidays.
Well, seriously people grow the fuck up. I know there's some scrooges out there, not everyone believes the same things, but we're all a part of the same race. When someone says Merry Christmas, they're being polite and extending a greeting. If you're offended by that, well you're being a dick! When a Jewish person says, "Happy Haunakah" to me I don't flip off the handle, I smile and extend the greeting back.
This is my pulpit so I can say whatever the hell I want. So Merry FUCKING Christmas. Seriously, you should partake in Dr. Joe's cure all today, the holiday is a perfect excuse.
See again, if you're offended, just grow up and grow some thicker skin. You may not agree with the way I said it, but you should at least agree with the sentiment.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 06:00No good deed goes unpunished, especially when a bored police chief has nothing better to do. Have a disability not immeidately apparent,he doesn't care and can risk spinal injury and beat the hell out of you. Even if you're not resisting arrest and have done nothing but try and help the public good. Then you get stuck with the medical and legal bills while he keeps on treating the public like a group of children that he needs to beat on a regular basis.

State Sponsored Criminal Count 218: Chief Justin Burke Childers

SSCC #217 - Murfreesboro TN
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 12/22/2011 - 17:52A Murfreesboro police detective is accused of selling fake products to her own colleagues.
Counterfeit products are a big problem because they are attempting to use brand weight to pass off a inferior product. Charging someone a higher value price for an inferior product is theft. Why would you add a label to a product and the accompanying documentation in an attempt to pass them off unless you were trying to steal someone's money buy using a fake product?
I have to agree with Wizards estimate that the dispatcher that reported it is probably going to be labeled a rat. He also nailed the different types of responses for the same crime on the head. It's that disparity in the response that ensures this is a criminal count.

Just Like Any Other Day...
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 12/21/2011 - 10:00Today marks yet another complete revolution around that burning ball of fusion called the sun for me. I've gone around now 28 times since escaping my mom early. Liberated by a doctor 6 and a half weeks premature. I was liberated at 19 inches and 4lbs 1oz.

Notice my moms lack of a wedding band. That was my fault she swelled up like a balloon and went into the hospital December 7th. A date that will live in infamy because she calls me then and asked what happened X years ago. She remembers to call me on the day she went into the hospital to tell me about the two long weeks she had. Birthday, no call, she did already with the call on the 7th.

As you can see, my dad just dwarfed me in size. I know I have pictures somewhere but I have no clue where of me and him standing next to each other after I grew up. As you can see below, I made up for lost time.

Note I'm not even fully standing up straight. There was no question I was my fathers son since I was a spitting image in height and build. Seriously a friend had to do a double take when I had a full beard after the accident. She thought my dad came back from the dead. One of these day's, if I find the pictures, I'll post our grade school pictures side by side and make you guess who is who.

SSCC #215 - Orange County FL
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 12/21/2011 - 06:00Another officer who not only found another victim while on the job, but used his position to intimidate the victim into compliance. Given the fact that citizens have to just endure illegal searches and mistreatment by the police under protection of law it's no wonder this type of behavior exists.
This man is a full count no matter his punishment short of death. The department and the legal system acted to provide him the protections he needed to be invulnerable to his prey. Are all cops like this? No, but there are cops like this out there so why is the law protecting them while violating the citizenry. While a cop has every right to go home at the end of his shift, the law abiding citizen has more of a right to remain unmolested and unventilated.
State Sponsored Criminal Count #215: William Martinez

SSCC #214 - Covington LA
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 12/20/2011 - 19:18A Covington police officer, the subject of two police brutality investigations, resigned Tuesday, just after he appeared in a St. Tammany Parish courtroom and admitted choking a city resident during a traffic stop and leaving him handcuffed in the back of a patrol cruiser for "an inordinate amount of time."
Well he was caught and brought before the bar so it's an honorable mention then right. Wrong!
Driscoll was ordered to resign from the Covington Police Department and forbidden from holding a law enforcement position for the duration of his probation.
He was forced to resign, why would that be!? Oh that's right, if he was fired it could affect his future prospects for a job in law enforcement. Instead of doing what was best for the public and law abiding citizens he abuses they protect the out of control officer. Dollars to doughnuts he goes and gets a job in Canton after this.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 214: Eric Driscoll
Because beating up civilians and throwing them in the back of a cruiser is only a problem if you get caught. You'll get a light slap on the wrist to make the public feel better. Don't worry you'll be back to work in no time.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 12/19/2011 - 19:03And you know what? When the world started treating me like an adult, I found out I liked spinach just fine. As long as nobody was standing over me making me eat the stuff, because you still ain't the boss of me.
[And that's the truth right there. Seriously, there was a pile of stuff that as hard as my parents tried, I refused to eat it. I refused so hard that even to this day my mom thinks I am as picky as I was as a kid.
You tell me what to do, I will do the exact opposite.
I'm reminded of a story my buddy told me from the navy. Out going CO of the boat had a fantastic crew with very little in the way of discipline problems. A new CO came in and restructured liberty and the overall way he was treating his men. In the ends the new CO was treating his new men as children. His discipline problems went through the roof. The moral of the story, if you treat people like children they will behave as such.
No one has any business telling me what is best for me, doubly so if they have the ability to steal from and kill me at gun point and get away with it. -B]

SSCC #212 - Seabrook
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/18/2011 - 11:28So a DUI and the cause of an accident. I guess 18 months probation is reasonable right?
Oh how nice, he fled the scene of the accident and then they added this final icing to the cake.
O'Connell said the leaving the scene of personal injury charge was generally continued for 18 months, meaning that as long as he adheres to the condition of his probation, the charge will be dismissed. A third charge for marked lanes violation was dropped.
Oh how nice, as long as he obeys his probation the worst of the charges will be dismissed. Oh wait, there's more!
Days after his arrest, Preston resigned from the force, according to Seabrook town officials. But Preston, through a union representative from the New England Police Benevolent Society, disputed the town's claim that Preston resigned. Instead, Preston had informed the town he was going to retire, thus protecting his pension fund and his certification as a police officer, according to the union representative.
I don't know if he was successful in altering his resignation, but this whole incident stinks to high heaven with an innocent civilian caught in the middle. Unsurprisingly he was a state rep for a while.

Guns, Not Just for 2 Legged Varmints
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 12/17/2011 - 13:57This is why you carry your guns, even if you're not worried about varmints of the 2 legged variety.
The Sierra Vista Police Department, assisting the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, and a witness to the incident confirm that the woman was walking her dog in the area of Risner Boulevard and East Central Avenue when she was attacked by no fewer than three dogs.
This has a better ending than it could have otherwise. People were there attempting to help, but it took someone arriving with a firearm before the attack was stopped.
Gathered around the woman and her dog were several people attempting to fight off a brown boxer and white pit bull, as well as another unidentified brown dog, he said.
“There were like eight people there trying to get these dogs off her,” he said. “By the time I got there, (the dogs) were focused on the victim’s dog, which looked like a heeler.”
Corcoran said he aimed his 45-caliber handgun at the brown dog and fired, hitting the dog, which ran off along with another dog
It took a firearm to actually stop the attack. As Tam said , "If you don't have your own pistol, you may have to wait the rest of your life for the police to bring theirs." Thankfully for this woman she didn't have to wait for the police, she just had to wait for a neighbor down the street. So please, carry your guns people, you could just as easily save the life of someone else as well as your own. And that predatory varmint may be of the 4 legged variety, not always the 2 legged type.

Why is this a criminal count though? Well had anyone else done this it would be classified as animal cruelty given the dog was restrained and as such no reasonable person would have a reason to fear for their life. Not to mention this little fact.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Thu, 12/15/2011 - 17:55This blog has very accurately chronicled my journey and with the help of my friends, family, my internal will and "these" gun people, I am no longer a terrified woman unable to function.
I am happy again. I am more secure in my own skin than I have been.
A Girl and Her Gun - Someone Doesn't Like Me
[Seriously go read the whole thing. What has the anti rights crowed ever offered a woman in the same position? What does the Brady Bunch, CSGV, and the rest of them offer this woman to allow her to gain her life back.
Gunnies reach out and help, many of us have seen that terror ourselves first hand or in the eyes of someone we know and care for. Even if we haven't, we have the empathy when we see it to know it could just as easily be someone we know. We thrive off of empowering people to be the masters of their own destiny. Empowering them to say no with with such conviction as to preserve their own lives as well that of any possible future victim.
Find me a single instance where any of the gun grabbers have produced a result like the above. The anti rights cultists aren't for stopping violence, they thrive on it. It's how they peddle their lies and push their legislation that would serve to disarm us and prevent us from living free but in fear. Their goals are to destroy the freedom and comfort that people like A Girl and Her Gun have found after being an actual victim of violence.
As I said in her comments, stories such as this fill me with joy. While I'm sad for her trauma, I'm glad that our community, as it so often does, provided her safety and comfort while training her how to live free after discovering a wolf in the pack. -B]

An affidavit by OSBI Agent Donnie Long states Glover removed a Ruger .44 magnum from the evidence room and traded it to a man for a Taurus 9 mm pistol.
Best part is, the owner of the firearm in the evidence locker was entitled to it's return. This was nothing more than theft of property, a firearm no less, by a state charged with protecting it while in his possession.
Remember, the anti-rights crowd consider these people "anointed" and would say this wouldn't have been a problem if people couldn't own firearms to begin with. Never mind the fact that the chief himself committed the crime.

SSCC #209 - Manalapan NJ
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 12/13/2011 - 18:50Andrew J. Adell, 30, a six-year veteran of the Manalapan Police Department, admitted in court Monday that he was driving drunk on March 6 in his 2004 Jeep when he attempted to make a right turn onto South Street in Colts Neck before veering off the highway and colliding head-on with a 2003 Ford driven by Robert Felix, 40, of Keansburg, according to testimony offered to state Superior Court Judge Francis P. DeStefano.
How nice of them to just force him to resign his post instead of just firing his ass. He admitted to being twice above the legal limit, and he even hit someone resulting in severe bodily harm. The fact they didn't fire him still allows him the ability to find a job some place else. It appears that the assault by auto charge is a misdemeanor offense in New Jersey meaning he's not hit by the costs that come with a felony.
He's been given a second chance by his department by not just firing his ass and putting that black mark on his record. How many non-leo civilians would get that type of second chance?
State Sponsored Criminal Count 209: Andrew J. Adell
Because when you are twice the legal limit and run over a pedestrian you shouldn't be fired. Instead you can resign to go work some place else.

Quote of the Day - Ian Harrison (12/13/2011)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 12/13/2011 - 07:27Since then, a lot of water has passed under the bridge. In 1997, politicians in the country of my birth chose to vilify law-abiding gun owners as a means to appease the press and get themselves re-elected. As a result of the legislation passed, all legitimate handgun owners were forced to hand over legally held pistols and revolvers, or face up to 10 years in jail. There were a fair number of Brits who, rather than live in a country that would treat its citizens as serfs, chose to jump ship. My wife and I joined them, landing in upstate New York where we settled down to build our own version of the classic immigrant story.

I don't watch it because I don't watch a lot of TV and of the TV I do watch I could care less about the drama llama that is reality TV. I do however absolutely love what can be observed from the quote above.
This man was forcibly disarmed by the country he defended and decided that country no longer deserved his citizenship. That is the power of gun control. It causes people to flee, yet you don't see American's fleeing to Great Britain due to their low crime rates and gun control.

Michael Reese, 42, was arraigned Friday in Municipal Court on one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. Reese pleaded not guilty and was released after signing a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
What exactly is it thought that he supposedly did though according to the charges?
I'm sure this numb nut went home and slept like a baby. With this incident they at least suspended the officer, however given the history of the department as well as the local political officials I know why he slept like a baby. Unless he's actually convicted where the Lautenberg Amendment will come into play he's probably still going to have a job come morning.
State Sponsored Criminal Count #208: Michael Reese
Because when your woman pisses you off the proper response is to beat the crap out of her since nothing will happen to you. If another officer can threaten to shoot someone and harass them why would anything happen to you? Especially when he's on video in three separate instances.

Unpossible - TSA Violated Policy
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/11/2011 - 18:01More from our best and brightest that is our TSA.
In response to ongoing criticism for removing the back brace from an elderly woman who claims Transportation Security Agency (TSA) officers strip-searched her an airport, the TSA issued a "clarification" about their position on the incidents, claiming -- contrary to an earlier TSA statement -- that the woman's back brace was removed because the security personnel thought it was a "money belt."
Is anyone really surprised by this incident? We have given a much of power hungry uneducated morons the power to force anyone to do anything. Refusal can result in the revocation of your rights and being detained on arbitrary charges that center around you not being a good little sheep.
My favorite line though from the TSA was this which shows exactly what they think about this incident.
The TSA denied that any strip-search ever took place, adding that they "truly regret that these passengers feel they had a bad screening experience."
Note they refuse to admit the agents did anything wrong in the handling of these customers. Even though they admit that back braces are not supposed to be removed yet the agents can do no wrong. The agents violated policy and didn't correct their behavior upon noticing the error. Yet these women should perceive their experiences as negative despite the TSA agents screwing up?
You know, I keep telling myself that actually going after these people isn't worth it. The behavior of both the agency and the agents though is beginning to make me think that liberal applications of both tar and feathers is required at all levels. Seriously.

SSCC #207 - West Palm Beach
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/11/2011 - 15:49The prosecutors office claimed that new evidence was discovered however a review of this new evidence shows no new information. Quote of the Day - John J. Robinson (12/11/11)
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/11/2011 - 13:04Then along came the crossbow, presenting the first material threat to the battlefield superiority of the armored knight. Its short compound bow, made of layered wood, bone, and horn, could propel a short thick arrow (or "quarrel") at a speed that would penetrate light armor. Thus the armored warrior, the aristocrat in war or peace, could be killed by an opponent he could not get his hands on - worse, an opponent from the lower classes. It wasn't fair, and if it wasn't fair to the lords, it probably was not in keeping with God's will. A pope went so far as to ban the use of the crossbow by Christians, but the ban had no noticeable effect. Bans on weapons never work because they are always accompanied by the unspoken caveat, "We wont use it unless we absolutely must in order to win."
John J. Robinson - Born in Blood
Emphasis mine.
[At the time the crossbow evened the battlefield much like modern firearms level the game of self-defense. That unspoken caveat also comes back around to have an advantage over your enemy, or prey depending the view being war or criminal activity. Every criminal wants to win and even the gun grabbers admit that criminals can follow that unspoken caveat and have a right to arms.
Who needs guns then? Well, hunters need guns for the sport. Some people need guns for their profession– law enforcement, security guards, people who transport cash from businesses to banks, etc., gang members, drug cartels, felons, robbers and those who, without a gun, could not do their jobs.
Remember gun control has absolutely nothing to with stopping violence, protecting people, but everything to do with control. That has been the role of weapons prohibition always, even back to the middle ages. The church attempted to limit arms to protect nobility. You can't say no to someone who can trample you with a horse you can't stop, who you can't effectively fight. Those who want your guns, want you disarmed so they can tell you what to do without fear of you defending yourself. -B]

SSCC #206 - Minneapolis
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 12/10/2011 - 11:40In the third-largest settlement for a police incident in the past two decades, the city of Minneapolis on Friday approved a $1 million payment to a mother of two who was severely burned when officers, acting on a tip looking for drugs they never found, used a flash/sound device, commonly known as a flash grenade, during a raid on a south Minneapolis apartment.
The injury thought isn't even the best part.
So lets make this clear. Cops execute a warrant that was issued with an "announcement of authority" clause as a no-knock. Then they find absolutely no drugs in the residence or evidence there of, and they injure someone not even associated with the investigation. Good news for the cops though:
No police officer involved in the raid has been disciplined for the incident, the city confirmed.
Every officer violated the terms of the warrant and they carry the responsibility of it.

Clarity Has Come To That Childhood Question
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 12/10/2011 - 17:55So growing up when the question was asked and it always was, "what Star Wars character would you be?" I always said Han but never gave it a lot of thought as to exactly what really drew me to that conclusion. Maybe it's because he was indepenedent and a smuggler. My libertarian leanings run deep even to my childhood. Then this week Phil posted something which Linoge commented on.

Han was calm and cool no matter what was going down. Then I saw this comment from Wolfman:
Han Solo is remarkable in this regard throughout the storyline. Stormtroopers got you on the run? Scream in a bloodcurdling manner and chase them, they won’t expect that. Luke Skywalker in over his head and probably dying (again? geez…) of hypothermia? Make the decision and go out after him. Tauntaun dies? Looks like a warm place to stash an idiot friend for a while. Whole base is a trap geared for your destruction? Stay flexible, and trap them right back. He’s the only character in the series that actually pulls the trigger on Vader, and he does it more than once. Be like Han, indeed…
That put it in perspective quite well. I always thought of Skywalker as a whiny little bitch. I had never thought about everything Han did though. Ultimately I'd want to be the bad ass who shoots at Darth Vader.
If you told Han how much of a bad ass he is. Han's only response would be, "I know".

Weer'd Beard - Quote of the Day Barron
[It was a comment to something I said. Weer'd saw exactly my philosophy on the subject. There are many things I will not waiver my integrity on. Throwing self-defense to the wind and letting evil triumph is the most despicable thing in the world.
Any person or god that states I should stand by and do nothing is not worthy of my support. I don't want to get to far into my personal feelings on the subject because I hate talking about religion unless someone actually brings it up and asks me about it. It's a pet peeve of mine mainly because it is a very personal thing and I find bitching at someone because they don't believe what you believe to be a down right horrible thing to do, this includes believing there's nothing. This joke though puts my thoughts quite well.
There was an old man sitting on his porch watching the rain fall. Pretty soon the water was coming over the porch and into the house.
The old man was still sitting there when a rescue boat came and the people on board said, "You can't stay here you have to come with us."
The old man replied, "No, God will save me." So the boat left. A little while later the water was up to the second floor, and another rescue boat came, and again told the old man he had to come with them.
The old man again replied, "God will save me." So the boat left him again.
An hour later the water was up to the roof and a third rescue boat approached the old man, and tried to get him to come with them.
Again the old man refused to leave stating that, "God will grant a miracle & save him." So the boat left him again.
Soon after, the man drowns and goes to heaven, and when he sees God he asks him, "Why didn't you save me? I thought you would grand me a miracle and you have let me down."
God replied, "You idiot, I don't know what you're complaining about. I sent three boats after you!!

What Happens When Someone Is Armed
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 09:50Remember the Sheriff who told women to go out and get their concealed weapons permits and defend themselves. Well a woman did just that and the Sheriff is walking the walk, still!
Even with a shot fired by the home owner the Sheriff had the following to say.
That's exactly right. I love hearing stories like this, though I prefer it when the criminal is stopped from being a predator ever again. Either by law enforcement catching them or by lead poisoning. What I love most was you have a woman with a child who defended herself and her property successfully while being out numbered and them being armed.
The Criminal Occupational Hazard Reduction Organizations would have preferred this woman be unarmed against two grown men so they could do as they please. Remember, there are some who think peace and empathy are the solution to criminals. Don't believe me, see this tweet from yesterday that the creator attempted to send down the memory hole.

Law abiding citizens who carry guns aren't full of blind rage. Quite the opposite, they spend a lot of time and effort avoiding confrontation. However when a criminal brings the fight to our door, we have no reason to comply and it is safer for us to fight back. How can you be empathetic with someone who want's you dead, to rape you or your family, to steal your property, what is there to be empathetic about?
This person saw first hand the second failure that is the gun free zone of Virgina Tech, yet that was some how the fault of law abiding citizens who exercise their rights to be prepared for their own defense.
Self-defense is a choice, the same as being a victim. No one has any right to force one choice on the other. No one in the gun rights movement is attempting to force people to carry firearms for self defense. We are demanding that people have the choice. No one but god himself has the ability to restrict the right to self-defense, and even then I'd tell him to F-off.

SSCC Too many to Count - Lake County
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 06:00Seriously I started trying to map out the criminals and investigators but the mesh was just unbelievable.
In 2005, a moose was standing somewhere in the mountains north of Columbia Falls when Jesse Jacobs allegedly shot it. Jacobs didn't have a permit, however, so he reportedly got one from a friend who was a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The tribal member took the meat. Jacobs claimed the head and antlers, which he would later mount and hang on his wall.
Jacobs was a member of the local law enforcement. The list of incidents and problems, many of which were poaching related, are numerous and lengthy. They even include a DUI while boating cover up and the cop was told NOT to take his boat out by a fellow officer just moments before.
Seriously how can I make an accurate count with things like this?
In September 2010, on the same day that Jacobs was charged with felony poaching, FWP began to take sworn statements from Lake County Sheriff's deputies and detectives, trying to determine who else in the office might have been poaching. FWP ultimately interviewed more than 50 people in the case, including several informants and former officers. The investigation, led by Game Warden Frank Bowen, pieced together details of what was known as the Coyote Club, a circle of Lake County law enforcement officers who'd allegedly been poaching game animals for more than a decade.

Now it would have been icing on the cake to see him actually serve jail time and he still might. Any violation of his sentencing will result in 6 months in jail. The fact he can never work in law enforcement again in the state of Ohio though puts a serious smile on my face. While he may be able to go and apply for a LEO certificate outside the state, his odds of receiving one given his criminal record is diminished.
I understand exactly what Tam was saying in her comment, that's how the prosecutor in my case got me to plea out. Charge felonies and then offer a sweet deal. In this case it seems like they really had him. Even though it seemed like a slam dunk thought there's always a risk with the jury. The plea deal guaranteed a hit and given the particular crime it should kill any future prospects.

Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 00:30Remember the cop who thought that holsters were stupid and unnecessary and did an ND into the ground at the mall? If you don't, well you should for no other reason that the chief attempted to claim the officer did nothing wrong.
Well I stumbled across this one today.
Sgt. Michael Edwards was charged Thursday with endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported online court records show Edwards pleaded not guilty.
According to the complaint, Edwards was at a pretzel shop at Southridge Mall in Greendale on Nov. 2 when he reached into his back pocket for his wallet. The complaint said Edwards' gun slid out of his waistband and went off. A woman standing nearby suffered a welt on her leg.
That man is unbelievably lucky that no one was hit or otherwise severely injured. I find this charge fitting considering his negligence in this instance. His department has placed him on administrative duty.
I say leave his ass behind a desk permanently without a weapon. He has shown a lack of care towards the carrying and use of a firearm and he needs to prove he no longer has the mental capacity of a fly and takes carrying such a tool seriously.
This is also a prime time to remind everyone about Rule 5 given the gun slipped out of his waist band and it shot into the ground.
Say it with me now, "Don't try and catch a gun!"

It's That Time Of Year Again
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Wed, 12/07/2011 - 09:00Many people when they need more outlets grab a power strip. They don't really consider what the load is they're running off the strip as a whole. Many will do the worst thing in the world and cascade power strips for more outlets, or plug a very large current item into the power strip. There's a couple things going on that make ignoring these factors a bad idea. The biggest is that this is the result.
The cause:
According to fire investigators, a power strip started the fire, which caused an estimated $250,000 in damage. Multiple computers and a space heater had been plugged into the strip, but what role that played remains uncertain.
I'm going to explain now exactly why cascading power strips, and ignoring load concerns is a bad idea and results in the above.

See, Our Overlords Don't Like Being Held Accountable
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 12/06/2011 - 19:59When you see something like this, you know the overlords at the City and County level don't like being told to stop being petty tyrants.
Palm Beach County Tuesday filed a lawsuit challenging the Legislature's ability to penalize local officials for regulating guns.
That's the problem right there in a nutshell. Our government is designed to have limited enumerated powers. When a politician steps outside those powers they are not held accountable. Instead money comes from the taxpayer to pay for the grievance. Doesn't matter if the law maker knew the laws were illegal, they get off free.
Sounds like the people of Palm Beach County need to break out the tar and feathers since the law makers there think being financially liable is a problem.

Once is Happenstance
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Tue, 12/06/2011 - 08:46Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three or more times is enemy action. Well I don't believe in coincidence and at this point it no longer matters.
Yesterday another elderly woman came forward saying she received the same type of treatment as the 85 year old grandmother.
Ruth Sherman, 88, of Sunrise, Fla., told WCBS television ( http://cbsloc.al/sD3xsS ) that agents were suspicious about her colostomy bag and asked her to pull down the waist of her pants so they could see it on Nov. 28.
So that's twice. Today a third woman has come forward describing the same type of treatment, this time over a glucose monitor.
That's three. The TSA claimed on Friday that strip searches as the above are not procedure. However in all three instances there was an underlying medical condition that the officers exploited to abuse their power.
At what point do people finally say enough is enough. How much abuse do the public have to take before someone finally wises up that while the TSA may claim that something is not policy or procedure doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. TSA agents don't follow normal policy or procedures regarding the use of equipment that make use of radio active equipment, why does anyone think they would magically follow their own rule book?
This is like playing Monopoly with a kid who is making up his own rules and constantly changing them. Except this kid can throw you in jail when you point out he's breaking the rules. How do you deal with a spoiled brat who harasses and intimidates anyone who dares challenge their Authoritah. Not to mention when you tell their parents about their kids misbehaving they just pat them on the back and say stop that. Even when one of the parents is hassled.
My father-in-law was told not only to remove his prosthetic leg, but they wanted him to disassemble it. There's no cosmesis, and the leg requires special tools to assemble and disassemble. If you've ever seen a bare prosthetic there is no room to put anything in it. The TSA claims that type of behavior would never happen yet it does.
This is what happens when you create a job program for the lowest common denominator who cant even graduate high school and give them more power than they know what to do with. Then the parent who gave them that power says that there's no accountability.

SSCC #202 - New York
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Mon, 12/05/2011 - 19:47Here we have a case of contempt of cop which is being backed by an over zealous prosecutor.
After speaking to the woman, an officer told Mr. Dittrich there would be no charges, he said, but requested identification. He told her he did not want to give it. She told him, he said, that he would be charged with obstruction. He gave his name and address. Then she asked what country he was from. He said he did not have to say. When she insisted and he insisted, he was taken to the police station in handcuffs and given a summons.
Now New York is a stop and identify state, however that still requires the reasonable suspicion of a crime. In this case we have a thin skinned woman who got upset at a blind man staring at her trying to figure out why this woman was blue. There is no law against staring and there is no reason to believe that this individual had committed a crime. Further there is no reason this man needed to provide his country of origin, doubly so as an American citizen.
That's when we arrive at this little gem.
At one hearing, the prosecutor advised the judge that he would like to see Mr. Dittrich spend a little time behind bars. Disorderly conduct carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, though it is unusual for a first offender to serve time.
Remember, it takes a good prosecutor to convict a guilty man, it takes a great prosecutor to convict an innocent one. Couple that with the diverse number of laws that are open to interpretation and anyone that a prosecutor wants they can have.

I have the strangest feeling that the odd ball in that listing was one of two things. Either he was the poor guy that got caught up in the middle, or he was unintentionally the cause.

SSCC #201 - Arapahoe County
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/04/2011 - 10:00Since this guy is currently waiting locked up in the jail named after him I feel this is more of an honorable mention. It's not going to be fully accountabilibuddible though.
Former Arapahoe County Sheriff Pat Sullivan limped into court Wednesday morning, using a cane, as he faced accusations of trying to exchange methamphetamine for a sexual encounter with an adult man.
But this isn't even the best part though. He evidently would personally bond out suspects from jail.
Robinson would not say what type of suspects he bonded out and would not confirm if they were drug suspects.
Is it still prostitution if instead of a direct payment of cash the John just bond's you out of prison? Still that's just minor icing on the cake compared to the next item.
At the time, Sullivan used the event to champion gun control. He held up a semiautomatic weapon on TV and demanded more restrictions.
Sullivan then participated in many national programs, some preparing the country for a national disaster. He also took a prominent role during the 1999 Columbine High School shootings. After he retired in 2002, he led the security department for the Cherry Creek School District. He worked there until the end of the 2007-2008 school year.
That's right folks. This holier than thou member of the anointed class was using his position to argue for the disarmament of law abiding citizens. He began his crusade in 1989 prior to the Brady Bill. So here comes this eternal question, did he support the Brady Bill? Not only did he, he was considered by the Brady Campaign an expert witness.
He worked in a may issue county and attempted to use concealed weapons permits as bargaining chips to get people to stop fighting for the second amendment.
Sheriff Sullivan was also famous for trying to buy off local gun rights activists with a “buddy” concealed carry permit (when permits were almost impossible to acquire).
In 1995 Sullivan offered me a permit, attempting to buy my inactivity in the battle for concealed carry in Colorado.
Think about that for a second. This state sponsored criminal was selling your rights down the drain and attempting to bribe others who were fighting the good fight to leave and be complicit. They only way this guy could ever be held accountable is to have his naked body flogged by every victim of violent crime who was disarmed by his efforts. When that was complete he would be keelhauled in open water.
State Sponsored Criminal Count 201: Former Sheriff Patrick Sullivan
Because it's perfectly fine to use your position of power not only for your personal gratification, but then try and disarm the public so they can more easily become your victim.
*There has not even been an acknowledgement from the Brady Campaign of the corruption of one of their former "expert witnesses". I guess it never happened just like the death of Brian Terry and operation Fast and Furious. Out here in the world of facts and logic we air our dirty laundry. In the world of emotions and Peterson Syndrome that is not an option since it destroys the crux of their argument.

TSA - Defending Freedom From Terrorisim
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/04/2011 - 15:51Seriously every time I think the TSA couldn't stoop to a new level of stupidity they prove me wrong.
First up is an incident involving an 85 year old grandmother for refusing to receive an unnecessary dose of radiation provided by the local high school drop outs. The results:
An 85-year-old woman said Saturday that she was injured and humiliated when she was strip searched at an airport after she asked to be patted down instead of going through a body scanner, allegations that transportation security officials denied.
Of course as usual the TSA claims that this never happened and that it violates their policies and procedures. There's one problem though, we regularly hear about incidents like this and the TSA always claims it never happened. They only admit they screw up when it's caught on tape. Just because policy says you don't do that, doesn't mean one of your agents demanded it because she wasn't a compliant sheep. The can verify before and after but not during the screening as it wasn't recorded. Why not record it if there's not strip search involved and it's just a pat down?
Then as if the TSA needed to further display their stupidity and show exactly why none of them were able to graduate high school we hear about this incident.
Well, maybe it was a really realistic gun design and they had good cause.

See what happens when you try and justify the idiocy of the TSA, they just show you how much of a bunch of morons they really are. Then the TSA agents babble on as amateur lawyers to intimidate passengers.
"She was like, 'This is a federal offense because it's in the shape of a gun,'" Gibbs said.
So the agents delayed her long enough to ensure this girl missed her flight and for what!? A lesson to her about how she should just be a good little sheep.
The list of problems with the TSA is long and distinguished. Anyone who says the TSA is necessary to prevent the next terrorist attack is lying. The score board currently says otherwise because it's been the people the TSA has been violating that stop the terrorist attacks. The TSA is a security theater and needs to be done away with. Even a congressman that called for their creation thinks they are bloated and need to go.
