Thanks for the best month ever….

server

So evidently I really must have done something right this month.  I dang near went double my previous best.  For anyone who has decided to stick around, sweet, I’ll try and keep the cream flowing.

The big item that really shoved this month over the top was my Open Response to Joan Peterson.  Evidently that was a verbal lashing that people seemed to appreciate.  For the record, when I wrote it I didn’t even really expect it to even be a blip on the radar so that makes it doubly awesome.  By the way, as expected, there has been zero response or acknowledgement of my response by Joan.  Given how it spread like fire it is hard for me to believe that she didn’t see it.

I also got a bunch of feedback that proved how much of a wonderful job I’m doing.  I will have more on that later though.  Sebastian touched on it today but I noticed something this afternoon and I need to do some research and connect the chronological dots.

Thanks to everyone who linked me, and thank you to Uncle that pushed me over the 7000 mark linking my A Taste of Home post. Which I’m glad to say is starting to take off. I’ll blog more on that tomorrow night though.

SSCC #250–Nashville

Poole also awaits trial on 10 counts of sexual assault while on duty, including rape, sexual battery and sexual misconduct stemming from 2010 allegations. He was cleared on a separate charge that he inappropriately touched a woman he was bringing in on a warrant.

Note the keyword also.  See he finally was brought down after he beat his son with a trophy and his son ran to a neighbor and called the police.  The investigation into these issues started all the way back in 2010.

SSCC #249–Cincinnati

A grand jury indicted a Cincinnati police officer accused of breaking into a home and choking a woman inside.

Ok, he broke into a house and assaulted a woman.  It can’t get any worse right?  Now why do you think I’d bother posing that question!

Court documents indicate that Kiner was accused of stalking the same woman and damaging her car in November and a temporary restraining order was issued against him.

But the case was marked "ignored" on the last court document in late November, indicating the grand jury did not indict Kiner.

Good thing we have that Lautenberg amendment to protect women from abusive stalkers from using firearms.  Thankfully in this case the Officer didn’t use a firearm, however the Brady Campaign will not be lighting a candle for her as she is not a  victim of gun violence.  Not to mention that the officer would still be allowed to carry a firearm while on duty anyway.

Besides the woman was most certainly allowed to survive by the mercy of her attacker:

The 42-year-old Kiner was initially charged Monday with aggravated burglary after he was accused of breaking into a Paul Street home, choking the woman and dropping a gun on her chest before leaving.

A Little Taste Of Home

So as many of you are aware there are a bunch of anti-rights cultists staging a boycott on February 14th.  As a response our side of the fence is holding a buycott.

As I've been reading through the blogs and Facebook events there are a lot of people who don't drink coffee.  One particular comment stood out to me today.

Hey, can someone buy one extra for me? I wish I could be there to support but I am doing my part to defend this country.

Let's hit two birds with one stone.  Lets send our troops overseas a little taste of home.  I'm currently working on contacting Soldiers' Angels to get the details on where to send donations with no firm destination.

If you are stationed overseas and would like a delivery, please contact me with your APO or FPO address.  I will mail any requests personally directly to you or your unit.  I have no idea how much traction this little idea is going to get, my hope is it gets a lot.

If you would like to participate or donate please contact me and I will keep you filled in with the details.  I want to ensure we fill requests from troops overseas first before sending it to Soldiers' Angels.  So, just because you don't drink coffee yourself is no excuse, you can buy a bag of roasted beans and send them to some one overseas who will greatly appreciate it.

Note: If you buy coffee to send overseas, get the pre-ground individual packets.  Keeps it fresher and not everyone is going to have access to a grinder.  Thanks Fred for the reminder.

Quote of the Day–John Doe ( 01/29/2012)

I see a kiosk at the mall.  Right next to the blood pressure machine.

John Doe – Conversation at work last week

[This was said by one of our mechanical engineers at work after I described the work being done by Sebastian and company with CNC machines and home built firearms.

I have to agree, it would be nice to walk into the mall, push a button, and have it build me a nice stripped lower for an AR-15.  All the while members of the Brady Campaign promptly start checking their blood pressure in the machines right next door.

The work done by Sebastian and crew proves that gun control is impossible, no matter how hard the anti rights cultists try the cat is out of the bag.  When it is possible that someone with out any serious mechanical ability and push a button and create a weapon, prohibition is a hopelessly lost cause.  –B]

Background Checks and Firearms

So Joe pointed out today that the new battleground for firearms rights is going to be background checks.  Our opponents are realizing they lost the fight to ban the right to firearms.  His quote points out where much of the future fight is going to be.

Joe points out that background checks are teetering on the edge of registration.  If the FBI runs a NICS check on someone you can be sure they are in the process of buying a firearm.  If they maintain that record they know every individual who purchased a firearm and had a background check.  Currently all this would take is to stop the record deletion after 24 hours.  That’s it, just stop the delete call in their system.

My personal experience has transformed me from someone who would possibly ignore the inconvenience to someone who understands it’s pointlessness, how it allows for the violation of rights, and why it does nothing for the benefit for the security of society.

For those who are unaware I was charged with 2 felonies, both non-violent, in 2005.  The charges were brought about because of a very bad auto accident.  Both of these charges were dropped and I have never been convicted of a felony.  There is no legal reason, or even social reason  why my right to a firearm should be restricted.  I have never done anything provocatively violent, I have never presented a reason that I am a threat or danger to society.  All that happened was I had a bad accident in poor weather and road conditions.

Now with that history in mind, whenever I go to purchase a firearm the NICS check issues a hold on the transaction.  I am not allowed to pick up the firearm for 5 days until they finish their “background” check.  I had my concealed weapon returned to me by Washington State Patrol after the trial, with a notarized letter from the prosecutor stating there is no reason to restrict my rights to a firearm, and yet I was given a full Deny while trying to purchase a weapon.  It took a full year before that issue was fixed.  I tested it once a month with a friend who has an FFL in Moscow.

It has been said, “A right delayed is a right denied.”

In the case of the year of 2006 however I had every right to a firearm yet I was denied.  Even today I am delayed in exercising my right to purchase a firearm.  I can file with the ATF and FBI to retain my NICS record so the hold will no longer occur.  For those that miss that translation, I waive my right to have them delete the record and enter the realm of having registered myself with them.

There are many who would claim that background checks are a wonderful thing.  Helping to stop domestic abusers from getting firearms and elevating their crimes.  Except it will also prevent a battered woman for seeking a tool that will level the playing field.  The blade cuts both ways and I care more about the cuts towards the innocent and law abiding.  If someone is considered to be such a threat to a person or society that they can not be trusted with a weapon they should be placed in prison.  The Lautenberg Amendment, while well intentioned, violates due process and allows for the confiscation and deprivation of rights of an individual without their facing their accuser.

There are numerous other tools that can be obtained, without background checks, that are just as dangerous and deadly in the hands of an abusive spouse.  You can’t perform a background check on someone before they’re born.  Doing a background check does nothing to stop someone without a history.  Not only that, there are ways to avoid having a background check when buying a firearm.  Even if you make private firearm transactions illegal, it will still not stop the black market and back alley firearms sales.

I’m all for stopping abusive people from getting their hands on weapons.  My problem is anything can be a weapon and when the “solution” to the problem delays the innocent that the law is trying to protect.  Background checks are nothing but another tool to be used to infringe on a constitutionally guaranteed right, as stated by the SCOTUS in Heller and McDonaldNot that the constitution really matters in this fact anyway.

SSCC #248 - Barling PD

"Plaintiff by backing away or beginning to leave was not evading or resisting an arrest at that point, because there was no evidence of a crime or other basis for any arrest of plaintiff to be made," Chief US Magistrate Judge James R. Marschewski ruled. "At most the evidence established that the severity of plaintiff's conduct was the failure to comply with a command of an officer. While this may be a crime, defendants offered no proof of any such crime or its severity, and plaintiff was never charged with any such crime."

The judge condoned this action though by not holding the officers or department liable for their actions.  Instead of providing a punishment that would instill fear in those who would abuse the public while wearing a shield he issued the following judgement.

The judge found payment in full of Kirby's $167 in medical bills covered his actual damages. The judge also ordered the city of Barling to revise its unconstitutional taser policy that allowed use of tasers against individuals passively resisting officer commands. On the question of pain and suffering, the judge found Kirby was only entitled to $1 in compensation.

Someone hit that judge with a taser please because he obviously has no concept of how badly that hurts.  Screw him and the horse he rode in on.  He's nothing but a petty tyrant that wants to enable other tyrants to work without fear of serious fiscal penalties.  This statement from the judge proves it:

"Although I concluded excessive force was used on plaintiff, I do not believe the evidence elicited shows the conduct was motivated by evil motive or intent or involved reckless or callous indifference to plaintiff's federally protected rights," Marschewski wrote. "At most, the evidence established that the defendants, in reacting to plaintiff's desire to leave the scene and failure to submit to their commands, failed to meet the situation at hand with an appropriate degree of force."

Uhh, dumbass he was a passenger in a car, he wasn't being detained or under arrest, and he was walking to his mother who was going to give him a ride home.  Under those circumstances he had no reason to submit to a pat down, which he verbally refused to.  You're tyrant ass thinks that him being assaulted over that isn't a violation of his rights.

There is no question the judge in this instance helped enable the environment where the police department would be so willing to exercise less lethal force when no force is required.

State Sponsored Criminal Count 248: James R. Marschewski

Because when you don't act like a good sheep the cops can do whatever the hell they want.  They just want you to comply, there's no malice in that intent right?!  Just surrender your rights like a good little bitch.

Been Busy

I got tied up at work and in a meeting yesterday.  I meant to do some blogging when I got home but just couldn't find the strength to push out some free ice cream.  I'm pretty exhausted still from the long meetings I had the past couple days so I may not get around to writing any posts tonight.

In the meantime here's some videos that are well worth your time.  The first of which is explains in detail why I felt "Fake It" was fitting for Wednesday's ear worm.

The second I found initially via Joe.

I have nothing to add to that video.  It was short, quick, concise, and nails the truth on the head.

I'll try and throw up an SSCC tonight when I get home, I do have a stack in my notes currently, but I'm not sure I'm going to want to sit in front of my computer.

SSCC #247–Dona Ana County

Stephen Slevin was arrested in August of 2005 for driving while intoxicated, then thrown in jail for two years. He was in solitary at Dona Ana County Jail for his entire sentence and basically forgotten about and never given a trial, he told NBC station KOB.com Tuesday night.

Go read the whole story.  It is down right despicable and is a prime example of a Title 18.242 violation.  This story also strikes a personal chord with me as it is reminiscent of a story from my father.

"He was driving through New Mexico and arrested for a DWI, and he allegedly was in a stolen vehicle. Well, it was a car he had borrowed from a friend; a friend had given him a car to drive across the country," Coyte said.

So if all of those statements were true, why didn’t they place him on trial.  There’s a reason my dad when traveling would avoid New Mexico.  If he had to drive across the state he would stop at the border, piss on New Mexico, and drive non-stop to the other side.

SSCC #246–TSA

Don’t believe me that the TSA is a criminal enterprise sponsored by the state?  Or do you think my comment was off base that the higher ups are only upset when their employees are caught?  Well think again.

The couple contacted TSA to see if security cameras are in place to prevent employees from taking people's belongings after they go behind closed doors. LaFlamme said she was told no.

A TSA spokesperson told us out of security concerns they couldn't disclose that information.

Now it wasn’t the smartest idea to put money in your checked baggage, but if you can’t transport valuables in your luggage what is it there for?  Seriously, I remember when I could have a hard suitcase with my own lock that no one else had access to.

Now you have a bunch of thieves watching x-ray machines for cash and valuables.  They have a stamp from the government that allows them to steal from your bag and the government does nothing to prevent the thefts.  Anything they could do they discount in the name of “National Security.”

This coming from the same agency that labels me a domestic terrorist.  Yeah, still think we need this crooked agency around?

Starbucks Appreciation Day take 2

image

Sebastian, today, called for another Starbucks Appreciation Day.  I have created a public event on Facebook to help get the word out.  Feel free to join and invite more people.

Thank Starbucks for following local laws and not discriminating against citizens exercising a constitutional right.

The National Gun Victim's Action Council, an anti-rights group, is planning a boycott of Starbucks because the company does not discriminate against gun owners and those who exercise their right to carry a firearm for self defense. Starbucks respects local laws and does not create their own rules to disarm law abiding citizens

The company should be thanked for their continued respect of local laws, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Let Starbucks know we appreciate their stance and they should not bow to the wants of any anti-rights organizations that are truthfully in the minority.

SSCC Honorable Mention–Volusia County Beach Patrol

A former Volusia County Beach Patrol captain was found guilty Thursday by a jury of solicitation to commit perjury for telling a young woman to lie to authorities during an investigation of sexual activity with teen girls within the agency.

SSCC #245–The TSA

Hey, we’ve come back around to the same agency that started it all!

A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) worker at Miami International Airport was charged with grand theft after allegedly stealing from passengers' bags and hiding the items in a special constructed pocket added to his uniform jacket.

Well how big of a pocket could he actually make?

A police spokesman said Pujol stowed the stolen goods in a secret jacket pocket that was big enough to conceal a laptop computer.

He got the job and manipulated the uniform just so he could steal from the public at large.  He did it with the state seal of approval too.  Yeah higher ups may get angry when he’s caught, but overall they could care less.

This is another cop who was hiding in plain sight amongst his prey.  This seems like a pretty light sentence given the severity of the crime and the number of counts.  I wonder if the judge was worried about the ex-officers safety.

Do I Look Like a Maternal Copulating Opossum?

It seems that particular parts of humanity wish to surrender their place on the top of the food chain and force that decision upon others.  Every week there is a new article showing how bad this situation is getting.  Lets start off at the beginning and work our way up to the idiocy which indicates how how we are ensuring our own destruction.

Starting off there is the wolf issue that has been created by a bunch of tree huggers that don’t have to live with the problem.  The wolf is endangered I hear you cry.  Well when you introduce a predator into an area with 0 other predators you end up with a serious problem.  Doubly so when that predator is a non-native species.  They start decimating herds of animals that aren’t used to the new predator, and nothing kills the new predator.  They multiply like rabbits, meaning they need more food to survive, further destroying the local herds of elk and deer.

How bad can it really be though?

In a highly unusual move for wolves, they killed about 120 adult male sheep in one incident on the Rebish/Konen Livestock Ranch south of Dillon last week.

That compares with a total of 111 sheep killed by wolves in Montana in 2008, according to Carolyn Sime, the statewide wolf coordinator for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks

SSCC #243–DeKalb County

A homeowner was held at gunpoint and his family pet was killed in a mix-up involving a DeKalb County police call.

Well maybe it wasn’t so bad.  Accidents do happen.

“I said, ‘Why [did] you shoot my dog?’ And he said, ‘Well, I'll blow your brains out.’ I said, ‘Hold on a minute, you just killed my dog. Why you want to blow my brains out? My hands are up.’ I said, ‘I don't have no gun,’” Anthony Currie said.

That right there is the proper response from an officer who just killed someone’s pet, illegally.  Threaten the home owner.  I don’t care he was on the way to a call.  It’s the wrong house and shouldn’t be covered by qualified immunity.  He did not do his job and ensure he was at the correct house, then shot the pet after entering the premises, and then threatened the home owner.

In what world is this considered an acceptable line of screw ups?  Oh that’s right, in the world of the police where we are subservient to them.

The first officer faces no disciplinary action, but he will have to go before the shooting review board and face an internal investigation.

Yup still on duty and he probably went home like Harless and slept like a baby.

[This is a twofer for a reason since it’s all closely related.  I did exactly what Joe says above right here for the rest of the world to see.  Some have implied I wasted my time* and that there is no point arguing with Joan.  They’re right, and as I said here there is no point arguing with Joan.  So was it a waste of time?]

No, Joan's comments didn't have any adverse effect on me, but they might have on someone that's had similar experiences to mine.  I put my experiences out there for those who have not yet gotten to a place where they can.  You didn't just cover my six; you showed them you've got theirs too.

JenniferReply to Well That Was Unexpected

January 17, 2012

[As I said yesterday,

If I have one actual weakness it’s that I have a nasty habit of standing up to defend my friends.  Even if that means I need to drop kick a pig that wants to roll in the mud.  If that’s a weakness though, I find it a good one to have.

Yeah, I can live with that as a weakness.

I did not waste time arguing with Joan on her own site.  I did not waste time trying to jump through her hoops for approval.  I walked out in to the middle of the street and called her out for all to see, I did it here on my own site.  I exposed her hypocrisy, attitudes, and her actions that prove how horrible her and her position is.  I did it where the comments were open for anyone to participate.  While doing so I was also stepping up and  to help some friends.  It helped one more than I realized it would at the time I wrote it.

I often say I do this for me.  Well I do, if I don’t give out free ice cream well so what.  I don’t get paid, I pay hosting fees out of pocket, so why would I waste my time arguing with the likes of Joan Peterson?  I wouldn’t and never have.  What I have done is step up to tell my friends I have their back and help expose to the world the evil that she is.

Honestly I don’t know if anyone like Jennifer talks about has been or will be helped by my post.  I have to to yield to Jennifer’s experience which is far beyond my own in this realm.  I would like to think it would and I can certainly see how.  Ultimately though Jennifer’s point is irrelevant.  It’s irrelevant because it did help a friend, and it helped her through the healing process of her own story.

Waste of time?  I think not, it was absolutely worth every second spent. –B]

server

Evidently I said something that a lot of you reverberated with. Awesome, and again thanks to those that linked it.  Now for my comments.

I am fully aware that wrestling with a pig is pointless.  Just the same I think that arguing with Joan is pointless.  So why would I bother writing that response?  I did it because no one had stitched her statements together for all to see the hypocrisy she spouts in a clear cut form.  I doubt Joan has read the post, I doubt even less that she’ll respond.  As my mom said, “I’m not sure she will be able to read the whole thing and comprehend what you’ve said.”  My mom would be right, Joan wont understand, neither will anyone in those groups.

The fence sitters however can understand, they can read, and they can understand what I’m saying. It’s the fence sitters that come new to this debate that may not be exposed to a clear cut statement of what each side really represents.  I finally stepped in and wrote that because I saw a simple and easy hit to lay damage.  Joan made some statements that were down right appalling and that were not exactly the most kind.

Ultimately I did what I normally do.  I sat in the corner ignoring what’s going on, unnoticed myself, until someone does something down right rude, mean, and inexcusable.  They made the double mistake of saying it about two people who are unbelievably nice and kind.  Then I became the 300 lbs. gorilla in the room, hitting them so hard that I knocked them out of the room with nothing left to say.  I know neither of them really care about Joan’s negative comments on a personal level, I just found them down right rude and offensive, especially given the theme of the post.

I saw a way to throw down while remaining clean relatively clean.  If the pig comes back I’ll deal with it at that time, but I doubt she’ll respond because to do so she would have to acknowledge the facts.  She hates can’t do that, she doesn’t know how.  In writing that post though I also provided a pile of new ammunition for those who like wrestling with the pig.  I don’t support it, I find it for the most part pointless, but some find it necessary.

The only reason I’ve been tacking up the CSGV, Brady Campaign, and Joan is because they started it.  I participated in a vigil and they said I was most offensive.  I remembered victims of violence I know that they would not count and they called me offensive.  I remained civil through the whole exchange, I haven’t issued one piece of profanity.  I haven’t even resorted to name calling.  Joe’s right, they brought this on themselves.  Besides, now they’re calling me a Jerk. (Feel free to go post comments in there.  CSGV has no control of them.)

While some may view this as me fighting a pig, I view it as me standing up and saying “NO”.  I stood up to support friends that while they may not have needed my support, but they certainly could use it.  There comes a time when even a fly has to be swatted.  There’s a phrase, choose your battles wisely.  They choose to start this battle and they did not choose wisely.  I didn’t set out to, “Nuke it from orbit,” but I will not say I’m displeased with the results.  If I have one actual weakness it’s that I have a nasty habit of standing up to defend my friends.  Even if that means I need to drop kick a pig that wants to roll in the mud.  If that’s a weakness though, I find it a good one to have.

An Open Response to Joan Peterson

Joan,

One must be very careful when writing a response.  If you’re not careful you can come across as two possible things:

  1. A hypocrite
  2. Crazy

Your response (link warning) does both of those quite handedly.  So I am not sure you will be able to understand any of this or comprehend the logical reasoning, but as one of the men who is responsible for what the CSGV considers the most offensive response I can’t sit back and ignore this.  I cannot sit back and ignore it as you spread lies and attack those who are my friends.  My comments will remain open as always, and the only thing to be deleted from this thread will be SPAM, personal attacks, and things that wouldn’t be allowed in a decent society.

So first let me apologize since I have no doubt this post is going to go Kevin Baker.  So lets get the broad facts out of the way.

SSCC #240/241–Denver PD

They’re back already.  Between them and Seattle PD I could create a daily feed for just the two of them.  For the departments, being listed here is not a good thing.  If you’re here repeatedly you might want to reevaluate your behavior.  This however leaves no doubt the officers behavior is endorsed.

Two fired Denver Police officers accused of excessive force and lying on reports will get their jobs back after a decision by the Civil Service Commission.

The city fired Devine and Nixon, who were accused of lying on their reports about the incident by making it appear they were defending themselves.

How many things do you have to do blatantly wrong, and illegal I might add, before you are fired for being a bad cop?  Continuing in the article the board was sympathetic to the officers because it felt the chaos of the evening provided an valid excuse.

Pardon me, but I don’t give a crap.  This isn’t the first time someone from Denver PD got caught lying.  Most disturbing is they get back pay as well.  They get paid for sitting on their ass that whole time.  Your tax dollars at work.

There’s a reason I’m siding against the officers here.  The city found enough evidence and grounds to fire the officers.    Couple that with the fact that this isn’t Denver’s first rodeo in the count.

SSCC #239–San Francisco

This one requires some knowledge as to why this one heads to the count.

Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi faces one count each of domestic violence battery, child endangerment and dissuading a witness, San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon said Friday.

Now, he’s actually facing charges and it seems on par for what happened, so why would I put him in the count?  Well he’s been fighting back against the NRA lawsuits brought after Heller and McDonald.

"Oh, absolutely not," Mirkarimi assured us. "If you think about it, with all the legislative action and focus that I've been applying since becoming a supervisor on gun violence and public safety, it's completely consistent." (OK, that last part was definitely a plug for his sheriff's candidacy.)

Well if Mr. Mirkarimi was a Mayor he would fit right in the the Mayors Against Illegal Guns.  So lets go back to this DV incident.

Gascon said prosecutors have also requested an emergency protective order prohibiting Mirkarimi from having contact with his wife and son. He is also ordered to stay away from his home while police investigate other possible domestic violence incidents involving Mirkarimi and Lopez, Gascon said.

Well normally the Lautenberg Amendment would mean that he would have no access to firearms.  Except as the Chief of Police, he can still carry one while on the job.  Double standard anyone?  The icing on the cake though, he was sworn in as chief after the incident.

TSA Employees…

They’re not hired because they’re bright, intelligent, or honest.

TSA air marshal Adam Marshall was arrested by the Boston police department at 3:50 a.m. on Dec. 10 after he allegedly argued with members of Occupy, called some of them prostitutes, struck one of Occupy’s organizers and main tweeters in the face, grabbed her iPhone and then fled.

You know, I dislike the Occupy movement more than just about anyone.  That said, I’m not going to support anyone who goes in there, assaults people, and steals private property, even if I dislike the victim group.

He did it because, “I’m a TSA agent and work for the DHS, I’m invincible.”  Yeah, the TSA better fire his ass, and they better prosecute him to the full extent of the law.  If not I’m moving this one to the count.

*I do find it funny that all these people who bitch about how poor they are have 600 dollar phones with expensive service plans.

**It’s not in the count because he wasn’t on duty and currently he does not appear to be benefiting from his job.

SSCC #238–Seattle PD

Seattle can’t make it one week without getting in the count.

The footage shows two dock workers waiting for work get handcuffed. One is hit with a Taser, and both are arrested by police just because the passenger "lips off" to police.

KOMO News uncovered what the American Civil Liberties Union calls a classic case of "contempt of cop." This type of contact, which starts off as a minor stop and quickly escalates to use of force and arrests, is at the heart of what critics say is wrong with Seattle police.

Don’t worry though.  The officers are protected under qualified immunity.  Go read it, all I have to say is I’m hating the Seattle PD more and more.  I thought I couldn’t hate them anymore, but they keep proving me wrong.  Especially since all they did was give him a reprimand.

In Which Ladd Shows He’s a Sniveling Coward

Earlier this week I wrote a post on how I know I’m doing a good job.  Well Ladd to make sure his responses were harder to notice updated his article.  As always he twists words and moves things out of context.

On his blog, Barnett added that those who participated in the vigils "are faster on the draw than a personal injury lawyer to dance in blood."

What I actually said was:

This coming from a group [CSGV] of individuals who circle around like vultures and are faster on the draw than a personal injury lawyer to dance in blood.  When ever there is a shooting the gun grabbers waste no time to attempt to levy the situation for their political gain.  See Virginia Tech and the recent Mount Rainier shooting for examples.  They do not care about the people, they care about their political ends.  Don't believe me, look at the blood dancing they did in Tuscon while the family that lost their daughter was saying the exact opposite.

That comments was also a direct response to Ladd saying my comments were inappropriate, I added the italics to help illustrate who the subject was from the previous sentence.  I never said anything about people participating in the vigils dancing in blood.  I am saying that those doing it for political means as a heart string are dancing in blood.  The organizations who organized it and are upset that the gun community expanded the effort to include all victims of violence.  Not just the fixed metric of gun violence.

What I find most telling though is that there are no comments allowed on the CSGV blog website.  Updates like the above are hidden and not mentioned.  Basically the only way to discover changes like that is to reread the entire article.  It’s his site, he can do whatever he wants.  I would point out though that I have open comments, the only thing I delete is spam, personal threats, and things that just are noy acceptable in decent society.  I’m more than willing to argue, I even have open comments and user ratings on my video.  Lets look at those stats shall we?

Numbers don’t mean as much as the blogger’s personal reputation with his or her readers.

Robb AllanThat’s a Nice Grouping You Have There

[I saw it when Uncle posted it earlier today.  My immediate thought was of the recent Ocean Marketing fiascoWizardPC pulls some numbers on the person complaining.  Ultimately the blogosphere is now proceeding to nail his ass to a wall.  Since it’s already in process, why would I bother to comment?

Well that quote above is just too damn good to let slip by.  There are some folks, as Robb said, who have done some pretty nasty things to the community.  Just because you have a limited readership doesn’t mean you don’t have influence.  I have a small readership, and those of you who read, thank you.  Even though it’s small, I do know that many of those who read also listen.

I try to remain in my comfort area where I’m knowledgeable and I strive to avoid ruffling feathers or “stomping on peoples junk” as I like to call it.  The bottom line is I subscribe to a few philosophies that make me listened to.

First, Integrity once lost cannot be regained.  No matter how hard I try, once I’ve done the damage I can never completely undo it.

Second:  I try to make sure that when I speak I have something to say.  If people are spending the time to read what I write, by god I better give them something for their time.

So just because you have 1000 readers doesn’t make you the be all end all.  Just the same just because you have 50 readers a day doesn’t mean that you’re a nobody with 0 impact.  Fact is if those 50 readers carry significant weight you’re single placed marking round will land an artillery barrage right on target. –B]

Uhh, no dumb ass, what you’re doing is teaching kids is that when you forget something or inadvertently do something you will be severely punished for it.  That kid could have just left the knife in his bag, buried, for the rest of the day and not gotten in trouble.  What dumb ass planet are you from!?  In what !@#$ing world does any of your statement make logical sense.

You acknowledge it was an accident, he brought it to the attention of the instructors, and you punish him to show the school is safe.

News flash dumbass, the people you have to worry about aren’t telling teachers they have weapons.  They just carry them and you never find out about them.

Oh by the way, I carried a knife every day through school from about 7th grade on.  Guess what dip shit, that knife never stabbed anyone.  Just the same my gun just doesn’t magically hop out of its holster and stab people.

Dear fucking god, what the hell is wrong with these people.  You know they say those who can, do, and those who can’t teach.  Well obviously this guy couldn’t understand logic if it was beating him to death with a hammer.  The dumb is most certainly strong with this one.

SSCC/ICHH–Two For One Combo, Denver

More than 500 people were wrongly imprisoned in Denver's jails over seven years, with some spending weeks incarcerated or pleading guilty to crimes they did not commit before authorities realized they nabbed the wrong person, a federal court filing shows.

Many would like to think that the system wouldn’t punish or hold the innocent but the fact of the matter is, it isn’t perfect.  Personally I feel on erring on the side of the innocent.  To punish the innocent is absolutely unforgivable.  Letting some bad people slip through the cracks is the price we pay for protecting the innocent.

When you see horrible mistakes such as the following there is no excuse for law enforcement other than laziness.

  • Warrant is for a female, defendant is male
  • Wrong finger prints
  • Wrong person entered the plea

I was sitting across from a Marine tonight and the subject of the TSA came up.  He had this to say.

Nothing confused me or pissed me off more when flying home and we switched to a commercial charter flight off of a military transport.  They went through and made all of us throw away our lighters.  We still had our M16’s and bayonets, but those lighters were mighty dangerous, especially since we could use them to take over the plane.

The saddest thing was, he was dead serious.  Flying back they made everyone toss their lighters for “security reasons”.

Boomerite Testing Continued

The alternative post title is "In Which I Don't Think Things Completely Through".

Saturday I went out with Joe and did some Boomerite testing to try and get to the root of a detonation problem.  Here's the video from the testing.  I was slightly mistaken in that there was one other target that kind of popped, but it was still nothing like we normally see.

Yes, I do something not so bright, but not nearly a full Ry.  Joe and Ry did some work the other night and it in fact does appear there is a size difference.  It hasn't been determined to be the cause.  It would explain half the targets from 2011 not working as well.

A Girl and Her GunJust In Case

[It is yet another nugget of gold out of this wonderful woman.  As I said before she has a point of view that not all of us do have.  She went through the transformation from one side to the other.

Personally I cannot fathom or even begin to comprehend how someone would not be willing to fight for their life.  To not fight for the most precious gift of all, the gift, that once it’s gone you don’t get another one; just does not compute.

There is no question I would fight, I cannot and will not strand my wife or my mother.  My mother most importantly does not in anyway shape or form deserve to have to bear that grief because a  criminal decided they were going to try and make me a victim.  She has already lost my father and damn near lost my sister and I both, all within 2 years.

Given the publicity, the fact he was fired, and his overall history, I would suspect that Harlesses's career in law enforcement is over.  Any department that hires him will have a liability issue given his history.

Fading into the Dust Bin of History

So Joe and I spent a bunch of time doing a video on Sunday.  Our goal was to spread the benefits of carrying a concealed weapon.  The gun grabbers immediately decried us as mocking victims, laughing, and otherwise disrespecting those who have been died or injured in violence.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  Joe's family, as well as my own, have both been affected by violent acts.  Sadly as seen in the video, those family members did not have the tools with them at the time to effectively defend themselves.  My parents however did have a firearm when violence came to their door.  Our goal is to decrease the number of victims of violence.  We don't care what tool is used in the violence, we just want fewer victims.

Well the real reason they are so upset is because they're seeing the final nails being drilled into their coffin.  One by one.

TooManyVictimsYoutube

In just over 36 hours our video has over 3 times as many views as the Brady Campaign video.  We have three times as many views as what they could get in 2 weeks.  The video of their speakers in San Fransisco have only 12 views.  (Note I clicked into the videos to verify the view count.  At the time of this writing that first video has 1154 views.)  Just search YouTube for "Too Many Victims".  Even their video to start this viral campaign only has 1572 views.  None of their videos has any "Likes", heck they don't even enable the feature on their videos.  For comparison, our video has 99 likes and 7 dislikes.

When a bunch of unfunded bloggers, who on their own free time, can take your own viral marketing campaign, turn it on its head and surpass your efforts you have to ask yourself, "Am I still relevant?"  When the efforts of 4 people derail an entire political campaign can you still say, "People will listen to us."

The wonderful thing about the internet is it makes it really hard to hide how irrelevant you are.  It also makes it even easier to collect the numbers and prove how irrelevant you are.

Newbie Shooter - I am a Gunnie

[This was in response to a stereotypical quote from an anti-gunner which was also covered elsewhereI discussed it last night as well.

That sentence above says it perfectly.  They continue to attempt to dehumanize us because they can not bear the thought that we are just like them.  The can no comprehend that someone would want to defend themselves.  The do not understand there are those of us who refuse to be a victim.  There are those of us who feel our self worth is more than that of a criminal that would do us harm.

These people have to live in a fantasy world because the truth destroys that which they believe. The cannot believe that someone could go about their daily business while carrying a weapon and not shoot someone.  They project their self-control issues on everyone.  Ignoring the fact that their projections are not necessarily true.

I am a law abiding citizen.  I am an engineer, a wood worker, a blogger, a web designer, ham radio operator, ARES member, husband and I am a gunnie. -B]

How To Know I'm Doing a Good Job

Perhaps most offensive, however, was a video posted by pro-gun bloggers Barron Barnett of Washington and Joe Huffman of North Central Idaho. The video shows pro-gun activists holding candles, saying “candles don’t stop violence” and then drawing their handguns and firing at paper targets that are supposed to “simulate the January 8th 2011 shooting in Tucson.”

This was a post by CSGV regarding their Too Many Victims vigil.  The started off by hitting Weer'd, DoOT, Bitter, Miguel, Kurt Hoffman, and Lingoe.  Many of whom they "outed".  The title of their post implies that we "found humor" in the vigil.  Really, I don't know of anyone who finds the topic of violence funny.  I don't know of anyone who really laughed about the subject.  What I did see though is a bunch of people get upset about others participating in the vigil in their own way.

At least two people in that video are "victims of violence" by the same rating as Joan, myself and Joe.  Neither one of us were laughing at the thoughts of the injuries that came to loved ones.  No instead we were focused on two things.  One, remembering what happened, that is done through the candle.  Two, illustrating the tool that can stop violence.  A gun is a tool and has the ability to stop a violent confrontation in its tracks without even a shot fired.  That's why the gun is in the picture.  It is a statement that I refuse to be a victim and will triumph if someone brings violence to my door.

It’s difficult, if not impossible, to understand how pro-gun activists believe such comments were appropriate on a day when gun violence survivors and others were remembering those they have lost.

This coming from a group of individuals who circle around like vultures and are faster on the draw than a personal injury lawyer to dance in blood.  When ever there is a shooting the gun grabbers waste no time to attempt to levy the situation for their political gain.  See Virginia Tech and the recent Mount Rainier shooting for examples.  They do not care about the people, they care about their political ends.  Don't believe me, look at the blood dancing they did in Tuscon while the family that lost their daughter was saying the exact opposite

Here they are telling me my comments about how a firearm protected my mother and my father in two separate incidents was inappropriate.  While the blood hadn't even cooled with a ranger lying on the side of the road and they were blaming the National Parks concealed carry legislation, which did not aid the shooter and would have done nothing to prevent it.  Here they are telling me to not think about those I could have lost.

The point of a vigil is to remember those lost and in this case, show how you will not be a victim. You don't have to be a victim.  Being a victim is a choice, however CSGV and the Brady Campaign would prefer that being a victim becomes a requirement.

I'm being insensitive!?  What about all the victims who are dead or were violated because of gun control policies?  Just the same I light those candles for them.  I light a candle for those victims you would ignore because it wasn't "gun violence."  You're calling for further disarmament when you're misguided "common sense" has been racking up a notable victim count since the 90's.  If you're pissed off about it, good, because that means I'm doing my job.

I think the real reason you're pissed is because without any serious organization we hijacked your whole campaign.  We have shown just how irrelevant you guys really are.  Your statement that it was offensive I will wear as a badge of honor consider the type of behavior and company you keep.

Let’s go through these shall we!?  First up is the two comments from Heidy Waddell.

You’re calling us dumb when you don’t even seem to be able to understand the statement.  Let me break it down so that even a 5 year old could understand it.  A vigil remembers the victims, nothing more.  A vigil does nothing to stop violence.  A candle will not stop violence.  However the Brady Campaign and CSGV are using the remembrance of the victims as a political tool to disarm the law abiding that they would be rendered defenseless.

As for extremely low or non existent defensive gun uses by citizens, you don’t search for the same things on the net as I do.  See here in  the real world we see defensive gun uses regularly, JayG even has a running count.  My parents both had defensive gun uses, but since a single shot wasn’t fired you probably won’t count those.  The instances such as the woman who defended herself from two thugs looking for drugs after her husband died.  There are also plenty of instances of how depending on the police doesn’t work.  Just because you’re willing to die while waiting for someone else to arrive with their gun doesn’t mean the rest of us are as willing.  You have no right to tell someone to be a victim.  I cannot force you to carry, however you have no business forcing someone to be disarmed.

Next Up, Jami Regs.

Really, uneducated hillbillies?  Joe, the last shooter has a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering.  I have a BS in Electrical Engineering. The man in the still frame has at least a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  There was absolutely no alcohol on the range.  I rarely drink and when I do it’s on a special occasion and even then in a very limited amount.  As for the 2nd Amendment being ridiculous, obviously you don’t think that any of those above should have been able to defend themselves.  Again, being a victim is your choice, a choice you do not have the right to force upon others.  I don’t care if everyone else in the country went nuts tomorrow with their guns and shot up different places.  I didn’t so stop trying to tell me I can’t carry or defend myself.

CSGV’s first comment.

How does what we’re doing not relate to the 2nd Amendment?  We were partaking in a nationally recognized shooting sport.  What part of the language of the 2nd Amendment do you not understand?  We have the right to keep and bear arms.  We were using those arms lawfully and safely.  No one was shot, no one was injured, but according to the CSGV that must mean our arms are defective.

Jane Thorne-Gutierrez, first comment.

Militia has not taken on a new meaning.  See US Code, Title 10, Subtitle A, Part 1, Chapter 13, Section 311.

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b) The classes of the militia are—

(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

Now that we have that little statement out of the way lets nail your high violent crime rate comment to the wall.  Oh wait, you wanted just the straight crime rate, so in other words you’re inflating your statistics to argue against guns by including crimes where guns weren’t involved?  I have a better idea.  Lets look at the murder rate internationally.  What’s that, the US has a murder rate less than the world average? Less than Mexico which has very strict gun control.  Including “crimes” in which there is no victim to boost your statistics doesn’t really count.  Besides, correlation does not equal causation.  I’ve proven the Brady scores have 0 correlation with violent crime and Linoge has shown that crime rates are not affected by gun ownership either.  Please provide me solid facts on how law abiding gun owners increase violent crime, because all I see is feelings and “if you have a toaster you’re more likely to be attacked by a toaster” arguments.

CSGV’s second comment.

Thank you for admitting the truth.  CSGV doesn’t care about violent crime, they just care about “gun deaths.”  If all gun deaths were destroyed but the overall crime rate increased, CSGV would be pleased with the outcome.  Joan even admitted that she would prefer a higher crime rate for 0 gun deaths.  In this world 20 murders per 100k is ok if they’re done with a knife, but 5 murders per 100k is bad if one involves a gun.  The dumb is strong with this one.  Besides, the “gun death” statistic is stupid and pointless as it pretends that other forms of death and murder are some how less relevant.

Jane Thorne second comment.

So gun control would have stopped all of these deaths and murders?  Gun control would have protected the woman who shot her attacker who had a knife?  Gun control would have protected the woman who attempted to strangle her?  That comment is 100% fail.

CSGV Round Three.

Guns in the civilian market are extremely efficient at armed defense.  The arms available are quite efficient and provide a force multiplier that allows a small petite woman to defend herself from a line backer.

John Donnaruma

See the response to CSGV’s second comment.  Gun Violence is a BULL SHIT metric.  Why is someone who’s raped at knife point different from someone who was raped at gun point?

Jamie Gronko

Quick Draw Match.  WTF!?  Also I went through the video and pulled the stats and scores.  Incase you missed the stage description:

An explanation of the stage design is important. The brown target in the distance represents a "bad guy". The white targets represent innocent people. When scored only hits on the bad guy counted and hits on the innocent were heavily penalized. When the scores have been reported I'll make anther post. I think I might have won this stage. I had a good time with five A-zone hits, one C-zone hit and no hits on the no-shoot targets.

The instructions to the shooter were:

Start position: Facing up-range holding a candle with both hands. Gun is in a concealed carry state.
Course of fire: Upon signal drop candle, turn, draw, and engage T1 with six rounds. Comstock scoring.

This stage design was to simulate the January 8th 2011 shooting in Tucson. It was this event which the Brady Campaign wanted to bring attention to. This was to stimulate political interest in more gun laws.

Credit for the stage design goes to Bob N. (shown in the video preview above).

So we had a single “bad guy” surrounded by “good guys”.  We had to turn 180 degrees, draw, engage with 6 shots, and not hit any of the friendly targets.  No shooter took beyond 10 seconds from the buzzer to the last shot.  Every shooter scored at least 1 hit in a critical zone.

Joe engaged the whole stage in 4.18 seconds, scoring 5 A hits (critical zone), and 1 Charlie hit to the minor zone.  Joe practices regularly and competes regularly.  He qualifies under your “trained” statement.

I have not been able to shoot pistol however as often as I would like.  The last time I was really able to practice was over a year ago.  I am not proud of that statement, but it is what my finances have allowed.  I had never shot USPSA before and overall my formal defensive pistol training is minimal.  My score for that stage was 6.44 seconds from buzzer to last shot fired.  I put five rounds through the A zone (critical hit) and one shot through the D zone (minor hit).  Where I struck the D ring I glanced the edge of a no shoot, when I say glanced we’re talking less than an 1/8th  went in the white.  It still counted as me hitting a no shoot, however that person would live to see another day had it been real.  All of those no shoots were potential victims had that been a mass shooter.  To put it in further perspective there is a LEO that shot that stage.  He shot it in 7.57 seconds, scored 1 A, 1 C, and 2 to the D zone, there were some unhappy victims too.  I don’t know what you were judging our performances next to, but no one in that stage was really pathetic. The bottom line is, it shows we have the means and capability of stopping a mass shooter.

Extra perspective, the Tuscon shooter fired 33 rounds in approximately 15 seconds.  Add 2 seconds to our times for being completely flat footed.  I have 6 shots on target just after he's half way through.  Would you rather he continue his murder spree unabated?  Even with an injured civilian, injured is better than dead.  Well in you're book that's not true, but frankly I'd rather survive to see my wife again.

The thing about firearms training is it doesn’t take a lot to be good with a firearm, extra practice doesn’t hurt and you'll improve, but anyone can do it.  You call it pathetic because you are envious of our independence and freedom.

Lastly we have Joan:

I’m glad I could contribute to your pants shitting hysteria.  Again totally worth it!

Also if the video is so horrible, why have 87 people liked it, but only 5 disliked it?

A Vigil for the Victims of Violence

The Brady Campaign announced an effort to hold a candle light vigil in honor of the victims of “gun violence” today.  Weer’d came up with the idea of holding a vigil for all victims of violence.  Weer’d suggested we do this by having us post pictures of a candle with our defensive arms.

First up is a friends S&W 5906.  He didn’t have a good camera and lives down the street so he came over tonight and we just did all the arms at once.

S&W 5906

A candle does nothing to stop violence.  It does nothing to protect this mans family from harm.  This pistol however provides him, as well as his wife, an effective means to fight off a stronger attacker.  This provides them an effective means to ensure the safety of their children.

I followed that up with my standard open carry arm.  A 5 inch Kimber Custom Classic.

You Can’t Make This Up

This seems like something out of a joke, but it’s absolutely real.

Louisville Metro Police are filing charges against a dead man.  Last month, police say two officers were hurt when Norman Smith opened fire on them near the intersection of 10th Street and Jefferson Street.

Now this choir boy had just gotten out of prison and did a bunch of stupid stuff and most definitely should be charged, if he was still alive.  Can someone please explain why it’s necessary to spend money and time filing charges against a dead man?  What the hell are they going to do, hang the corpse?

Things like this do not inspire me to allow the legal system to regain my confidence.  It actually does quite the opposite since they feel it necessary to waste time and money on a dead man.  All the while criminalizing everything under the sun.  If anyone has a logical reason for this please let me know.

Sometimes making things go boom is hard to do!

So I went out to help Joe with some testing today.  Last weekend there were some problems with boomers and testing needed be done to figure out the exact cause of the failures.

Joe and I stopped by the Taj and picked up some equipment however Joe forgot the keys to the magazine and we had to leave the targets that were stored to test how they react over time.

Once over at Mecca we began to mix explosives.  I noticed but didn’t think anything of it that the dust from the bin of KClO3 was less than usual.  Our first experiment was 4 control targets using our standard production methods and baggies with 8 other targets using different packaging methods.  We laid out the first 6 targets.  Two of each.  Loaded up with 62 grain JHP and started on the right.

Bang, dead center, nothing.  Move to the next one.

Bang slightly off, bang it’s low, bang it’s high, bang dead center, nothing.

Bang dead center, nothing.

Bang dead center, nothing.  Now at this point we’re moving on to the normal production control targets.

Bang dead center…. Nothing. I’m thinking, “what the hell is going on!”

Bang dead center, again nothing.

At this point Joe and I inspect the targets, they didn’t even begin to detonate.  We talk and think well maybe the ethylene glycol absorbed moisture, the bottle is almost empty.  We also realize it’s pretty cold and maybe that’s a problem.

Rifle vs. Shotgun

A girl and her gun actually asked a very good question, Rifle vs. Shotgun, what’s the difference?  I’m going to approach this from the point of view of what defines each and then close with the differences.  I’m going to avoid the odd exceptions because it’s not really relevant for the question and just aids confusion.

SSCC Honorable Mention–Seattle PD 01/05/2012

Seriously with the way Seattle PD and the Seattle City Attorney are behaving when crap like this happens I’m both happy and pissed off.

After more than a year of bruising news, the Seattle Police Department found itself reeling Thursday after a veteran officer died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound hours after being arrested in an undercover drug sting.

So I’m happy that a corrupt officer has finally been held accountable, doubly so he did it to himself with the barrel of his own gun saving the public the costs of prosecuting him.  Now why would I be pissed off I hear you ask, well that’s simple.

"This is a tremendous tragedy," Deputy Chief Nick Metz said at a somber news conference Thursday evening at police headquarters.

Know what a tragedy is Chief Metz?  The abuses your department is delivering to the law abiding public, the behavior of your police officers, and the all out corruption displayed by your department.  Then again maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, maybe he was innocent and just caught in the cross fire.

On Wednesday, as part of a so-called "integrity test," an undercover officer from another agency working in the Rainier Valley approached Nelson and gave him a purse that contained cocaine, Metz said.

Unknown to Nelson, he was under surveillance by detectives watching to see if he booked the cocaine into evidence.

"He did not do that," Metz said.

The officer was followed in his car after work and stopped by police just outside the city limits.

"There was a search, and we found a quantity of the narcotics," Metz said.

Well there went the caught in the crossfire theory.  There is a time to stand up and say, “We Fucked Up! Here’s what we did wrong, this is how we’re fixing it.”  This department lacks the ability to air its dirty laundry and continues to act as if for some reason it is exempt from the rules of lawful behavior.  It appears that Deputy Chief Metz is just considering this a tragedy because the guy got caught and then committed suicide propelling the incident to the front page.

Because it’s a tragedy when one of our officers gets caught, doubly so when he does something to cause it to end up in the news.

It still is unclear why a drunken off-duty state trooper allegedly kicked his way into a Utica home early Saturday and began assaulting the homeowner, authorities said.

Well how bad could it have really been?

“The family basically heard a loud pounding on the front door, they called 911, and the person continued to bang on the door,” Utica police Chief Mark Williams said, according to police reports. “Miller then kicked the door in to gain entry, and he started coming toward the homeowner when the homeowner tried defending himself to protect his family, his home and a child in the house.”

As usual in these types of instances the officer has been placed on administrative leave.  That way he can resign and maintain his prospects for future employment.  Seriously what does it take to get fired immediately?  I might not care if it wasn’t for the resignation game.

A note for the home owner, get a gun, learn how to use it.

State Sponsored Criminal Count 235: Jesse Miller

Because when a cop decides to break into a house while drunk and assault the residents, no immediate action is necessary.

But criminal defense attorney James Egan never expected the city would preemptively sue him just for asking for police dash cam video.

Wait, the city is suing him for requesting public records.  Well maybe he was just pestering them with BS requests.

The situation involves two cases Egan handled pro bono. He believed the videos in each case show officer misconduct. Egan wanted to know if those officers had other questionable arrests, so he asked for 36 additional dash-cam videos.

Seattle PD is arguing that they are caught in the privacy law, what fails me though is these videos are a matter of public record.  There are admissible in court as evidence.  The only reason I know of privacy laws being involved is if the victim has been sexually assaulted.  But then we see the real motivation behind these efforts.  It has nothing to do with protecting the privacy of the public and everything to do with protecting their corrupt police officers.

The city argues it doesn't have to release any videos for three years. That also happens to be when the statute of limitations runs out for suing the city and, as a KOMO News investigation discovered, it is also when dash-cam videos are routinely erased from the system.

Wonder why they don’t have to release videos until after the statute of limitations?  Could it be a game of cover your ass kids?  Remember this is the same department who shot someone in the back.  This also isn’t their first rodeo in the count either.  Three or more times is enemy action.

Because when an officer beats someone, hold on to the video and delay it until it no longer matters.

On That Candel Light Vigil

Weer'd came up with an idea that I think will work better than any meat space idea.  Today he gave the first reminder and posted a comment at the end.

That being said if you don’t have a blog of your own, I’d be perfectly willing to post your picture on January 8th. Just attach it to an email to weerdbeard gmail com, and make sure to include how you’d like to be addressed online, and I’ll post it on January 8th with my own official picture!

I am going to extend the same offer.  If you would like to post a picture and don't have a place to put it send it to Weer'd or myself at (vigil.picture at the-minuteman.org).  I will continue to update the post adding pictures as they come in.

This one's on video kids!

Note the officer pulls the bag out of his pocket.  Tosses it on the floor board.  Then picks it up and brings it back as evidence.  Nothing like framing people to get your arrest count up in the "War on Nouns."  This is why officers should be reordered at all times while on duty or interacting with the public in an official capacity.  If a cop has a problem being recorded, he's corrupt and up to no good.

An Afternoon Pick Me Up

Initially I wasn't sure I was going to do a post on this since Bitter already touched on it.  Then the wife emailed it to me and I watched this video and busted out laughing at the end.  If this is in your RSS, for some reason Google Reader won't embed the video.

You're killing me smalls!  Let me get this straight, you helped your buddy break into the house of the girl he was stalking, he got shot, and you called 911!?  If there's a dumb criminal of the year award, he's definitely a finalist.

Serious props to the young lady for defending herself and her child.  I supposed that Joan Peterson would have preferred that she wait to shoot until the intent was perfectly known and the woman's body going to room temperature instead of the assailant.  Maybe it was just a normal armed robber?

The bottom line is this is why I carry, even at home.  When I get dressed in the morning, that includes putting on my firearm.  Bad people exist in the world and they don't call ahead when they plan on doing bad things.  If you don't want to listen to me telling you to leave with my mouth, individually dispensing 230 Grain packages of hot lead will convince you leaving is the better option.  The bad news is at that point you're going to be leaving the corporeal world.

Ear Worm Wednesday - 1/4/2012

This one sat in my head most of the weekend after hearing it on Octane.  Video is nice too.

It has since been added to the MP3 player.
