[I love it.  Let’s disguise total BS as “gun safety.”  Lets look at his two examples shall we?

- Magazine Disconnect

Means you have to load a magazine into an empty firearm to show clear.  Often if you go to a match of any kind and see someone with a gun with a disconnect, they have to carry an extra magazine to show clear after a stage.  Tell me, how does it make things safer to drop the mag, rack out the round and then have to reinsert a mag.  Guess that’s why it’s the one safety USPSA allows you to disable or remove.

-Chamber Indicator

Otherwise known as the excuse people use not to observe proper gun handling.  Instead of using your own damn two eyes, you rely on a mechanical device that can, and will eventually fail.  It will either result in your gun failing, or start giving false positives, or indicate empty when hot.

Even worse though is the idea, and there will be people who do this, that some people will use the chamber indicator to assume the weapon is unloaded.  Then they’re finger !%^* the damn trigger and act all surprised that they just ventilated someone because they violated god knows how many of the 4 rules because “the chamber indicator said it’s unloaded”.

Safeties are all well and good folks but lets be realistic here.  What do any of those two safeties actually provide?

Not a damn thing that simple education or proper storage couldn’t take care of.  Instead of education he wants to modify firearms, in such a manner as to aid in careless gun handling mind you.

This folks is why you don’t take advice from people who don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. –B]

[First, go over and read the post and look at the pictures.

Yes, that AR-15 is so unwieldy according to Joe Biden that it should be banned yet all those features allow that wonderful little girl* to experience the same fun as the rest of us.

I will say it is stories like Kelly's that builds an unbelievable fire in my belly to the point of wanting to just fight this battle with a scorched earth policy.  The thought of Mr. Biden or any other person telling that little girl that she has no reason for that rifle does nothing by make my blood boil.

These people don't care about safety, violence or the rest of it.  They merely hate firearms, the people who own them, and ultimately what firearms represent.

While I like Kelly's version, I think I like mine better because it emphasizes my feelings on the subject without any question as to my meaning.

I suppose since this is Kelly's daughter he was trying to avoid a 4 letter expletive, frankly the though of people trying to take away her tools and what she's accomplished pisses me right the hell off.  Not only does it piss me off, but there is no "why" necessary when teaching someone a skill and watching them excel at it, especially when it provides them enjoyment.

*Given Kelly has many of the same online friends as well as knows some of the same people from Meat Space as myself, as well as reading his accounts of Katy Beth, I can only assume she is as awesome as she looks in the picture. -B]

“We were just sitting there laughing and out of nowhere, I saw two guys grab Ferd,” says Newman.

“All of a sudden, I’m on the wall. A whole bunch of people just came up and threw me up against the wall,” says Hunt.

Those people were plain clothes law enforcement officers, nine of them State Troopers and one NOPD officer.  The two young men were taken down to the ground.

The officers made a mistake with their choice of victims.  Their mother, who had just gone to get them something to eat was a uniformed officer.

I don’t trust NOPD at all.

SSCC #531 – Albemarle County

A former local fourth-grade teacher and police officer will spend three years in prison for possessing child pornography, an Albemarle County circuit judge ruled Tuesday.

Both a teacher and a cop.  Often people talk as if bad things just can’t happen because we’ve done X or Y to prevent it.  The thing is, X or Y lowers the statistical likelihood but it never actually reaches 0.

He’s getting 2 10 year sentences, the majority of which is suspended.  Must be for all the good he did in the community.  Especially since some of the counts went all the way back to the 80′s.  While he wasn’t an active police officer, the counts appear to have started while he was a teach and an officer.

A Lesson About Safe Storage Devices

So I have seen this before but I figure it’s a nice refresher.

Note the results, still think those little boxes you see will keep your property safe?  Especially those quick access boxes some end up buying when they’re stuck in one of those states lacking in freedom and pushing tyranny.  Still think the arguments are really about your safety or preventing theft?

If you think curious kids can’t figure out how to pick a lock, you obviously never saw me as a child.  I figured out how to pick locks at first just with paper clips.  Making my own tension fork and rake to pop simple locks.  Eventually I got my hands on a real set.  Yeah, beyond a real safe and educating your children, you’re not going to do much other than increase curiosity.

So consider this a public service announcement and a warning.  If you’re using any of these items, be damn sure of their capabilities and weaknesses.  In so doing, be sure to use them in a manner consistent with their abilities.  I happen to fully agree with the presenters final conclusions.

SSCC #519 – Minneapolis

A Minneapolis police officer is in jail after his arrest for allegedly having off-duty sexual encounters with several girls between the ages of 12 and 14, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators from the Brooklyn Center Police Department were alerted that Bradley Schnickel, 32, used social media to contact a female and sent inappropriate messages to her. The investigation widened and multiple possible female victims were identified, authorities said. Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Sheriff’s Office declined to provide a number.

Remember though, those in law enforcement should be given a monopoly on force.  They are anointed and could do no wrong against the rest of the public.

As usual he’s on paid administrative leave but given the number of officers who have done this while working as school resource officers, he’s on the count.

This is by far one of the best speeches I’ve seen directed towards the petty tyrants attacking our rights.

Good to see I’m not alone in getting angry for much the same reasons, and honestly has more of a reason than anyone else to be angry.

And yes, I was grinning as he called those representatives tyrants.

Along the same lines we need more people in politics like this mayor.  If you haven’t seen this video, I suggest watching it to the end.

I like how the mayor called out the two petty tyrants at the end.  Hopefully that ass who walked out is recalled from office.
