Snow

What was that about global warming?

Florida has so far escaped the snow and the Seattle area has seen quite a bit of it (which is quite unusual).

The White Stuff on the Side of the Road…
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 19:47Is a freaking clue. Today there was a 52 car pile up in Virginia, the cause, less than an inch of snow. When temperatures are near freezing, when snow is falling, even if it appears that the roads may not be slick, ice can be there. The wife rolled the explorer a year ago when it was 40 degrees out and it had rained the previous night. Black ice has no mercy. If you are driving in the white stuff, just because the speed limit says 65, doesn’t mean you should be doing 65. I also learned this the hard way, though I wasn’t even trying to do the speed limit in my incident.

Winter on the Palouse
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Fri, 12/31/2010 - 15:29Winter arrived for me and the wife just prior to Thanksgiving this year and has yet to leave. This past Thursday we had yet another significant snow fall but with the catch of high winds. This resulted in much of my yard being devoid of snow, yet my drive way and sidewalks in decently sized drifts.
Yes that snow next to the truck is up to the running board. Opening the door caused snow to be scraped off the top of the drift. Clearing the driveway was fun because the drifts were big enough to have to be slowly cut off.
I will say though, that 44 inch blower for the lawn tractor thus far has been a life saver. When I get to the far side of the driveway it actually takes a couple passes because it's so deep as well. While yes, the snow can be annoying, I am willing to put up with it for the following couple reasons.
There's some more of the senic pictures I took today here.

Winter Storms
Submitted by Barron Barnett on Sun, 12/28/2008 - 10:58Evidently there are some in my family who don't believe that the Palouse is/has been buried under snow for the past couple weeks. Well, considering I spent three hours re-clearing my driveway and sidewalks yesterday, and it's been a daily chore I say BS.
I took some pictures of my truck.
