Jeremy Clarkson you’re my hero…

First, when you read the title it should sound something like this:

Now why is Jeremy Clarkson my hero?

I always knew there was a reason I rooted for him on Top Gear.  Now given all the commentary around Piers as of late my distaste for the sniveling ass-hat should be obvious.  However if you look at the reason he was originally fired from the Daily Mirror his lack of ethics and morals becomes obvious.

Morgan was fired as Editor of the Daily Mirror on 14 May 2004 after authorising the newspaper’s publication of photographs allegedly showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by British Army soldiers from the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment.[17] Within days the photographs were shown to be crude fakes. Under the headline “SORRY.. WE WERE HOAXED”, the Mirror responded that it had fallen victim to a “calculated and malicious hoax” and apologised for the publication of the photographs.[18][19]

He will do anything and sell out anyone if it will improve his ratings or make him a buck.

h/t to Kevin on this one.

Doesn’t Fit the Narrative

So I’ve seen this a few places and figured I would post it since it deserves recognition.

“He was working on his rifle,” said Meli.  “He kept pulling the charging handle and hitting the side.”

The break in gunfire allowed Meli to pull out his own gun, but he never took his eyes off the shooter.

“As I was going down to pull, I saw someone in the back of the Charlotte move, and I knew if I fired and missed, I could hit them,” he said.

Meli took cover inside a nearby store.  He never pulled the trigger.  He stands by that decision.

The shooter however did see Meli and promptly took his own life ending the confrontation.

Now I bring this up because it has been pushed down the page.  Even if the events of Friday had not occurred it is still quite likely we wouldn’t know about the actions of Nick Meli from the national news.  Why?

We have a perfect example of a defensive gun use within a public setting.  We have an example of a concealed carrier acting responsibly and thinking about his backstop and possible innocent casualties.  Tell me, would a police officer restrained himself in that case? I highly doubt it and the New York shoot out provides a good solid example of that.  Especially since most officers will be protected from negligence by qualified immunity.

Our opponents are beating the drums, last night I had someone on twitter arguing how one just needs 911 and there’s no need for firearms.  As horrible as it is, now is the time we must remain vigilant and we must fight.  The media will do all they can to suppress things that do not fit their narrative, it is up to us to give those stories a voice.

The 2nd Amendment Foundation and You

So I got an email from my friend Ray Carter at the Second Amendment Foundation this morning.

Unbeknownst to me there was a Kick Starter drive started for a film that is dear to our cause.

There’s 14 days left in their drive with a goal of $65,000 dollars.  Yeah times are tough on wallets, but you know what it’s also only going to get tougher for our right to keep an bear arms.

There is no question that California is dead center in the fight to keep an bear arms.  Every time I’m around other gun owners and the subject turns to our rights, inevitably the subject of California’s draconian laws comes into play.

If you have 10 bucks, kick into the bucket and you’ll get a digital copy of the film.  Hell, at just 50 you get a DVD and a crew T-Shirt.

How serious does the Second Amendment Foundation and Calguns Foundation consider this project?

The Second Amendment Foundation and the Calguns Foundation have each contributed $5,000.00 to get this project off the ground.

Let’s get this project completely airborne and complete their goal.  This is something that definitely needs to be spread around.  Tell your friends, tell your relatives, make this happen, it isn’t just California in trouble.  California is merely the front line.

It was a long day…

So Joe and I got up yesterday morning and we got the AN quickly and were out of dodge by about 0710.

Notice how the bags fade off into the distance, yeah, there’s long row of them.  We stopped for breakfast and hit the road.  I must say Oregon is the most boring of the bunch, doubly so since they have a 55 MPH speed limit where 85 would actually make considerably more sense.  How dully is it?  I think I found a location where they could have staged the moon landings.

Yeah there’s a bit of stubble up close, but here’s another picture so you know I’m not kidding.

How’s that for lively scenery!  We stopped for gas twice and got into Reno about 2000 last night.  Chatted for a bit before we all decided we wanted to go comatose from traveling.  Later today we get a guided tour of Cabela’s.  So far only a few of us have showed up, more should be arriving today.

Yeah I’ll be on and off this week…

I am currently on “vacation” visiting friends and family.  Yesterday I met up with Phil and Scott from RNS down on the Tacoma water front.

Phil’s awesomeness was just radiating from him while at the restaurant.  It was a fun evening and was nice to catch up with friends I usually only see once a year at Boomershoot.

Earlier in the day though the wife and I went to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium for the first time since our wedding.

I wasn’t smiling because well, I don’t normally smile.  Don’t know why, but I just don’t smile that much if it’s a staged photo.  We paid a visit to where we had our reception too.

The Gibbons were out just the same as they were during our reception.  Just as adorable too.

We also found the Sumatran Tiger that was on display at our reception.

Here she is now, evidently she is most likely pregnant too.

And there’s even more cubs at the zoo, here’s baby snow leopards.

Yes, they were just as adorable in person.  There were a couple other cats that were adorable but I only have pictures.  If you have kittens, that’s exactly how they were acting but they were bigger.  I wanted to play with the kitty cats.  We did however stumble across a red wolf puppy.

Yes I know all of these are wonderful cell phone quality, I didn’t feel like lugging around my SLR and backpack.  Yes I had an urge to shoot the little bastards.  The only good wolf is a dead wolf however I consider a zoo a sanctuary and given they are nothing like the Timber Wolf or Grey Wolf.   That brings me to a story of someone who needed blunt force trauma to the face.

You see there are peacocks that run around the zoo uncaged.  They’re beautiful with gorgeous tails. When we finally ran across one it looked like it was shedding its feathers, but still seemed odd.  As TMW and I were talking a couple overheard us and told us that a woman was chasing the peacock earlier and stepping on its tail to get its feathers.  Yeah I was filled with rage when I heard that.  While I am not fond of some animals in the wild, I understand their role and don’t want to drive their extinction.  That said, something like that just disturbs me on so many levels.

So yeah, I’m going to be visiting other friends all this week and will blog when I can.

Why is the left so violent?

In the wake of last Saturday there were lots of finger pointing from both sides.  With a complete disregard for those who lost loved ones that morning

This vitriol was quick and thick it was discovered that Planck Time is not the shortest period of time.  We often see how bad the anti-gunners are, but now someone combined a list of how hypocritical the left is regarding incendiary speech.

Quote of the Day–Benjamin Franklin: 011011

Printers are educated in the Belief, that when Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick; and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter. –Benjamin Franklin (Apology for Printers 1731)

[With the Pima County Sheriff attacking free speech we must be reminded as to why it is such an important thing.  Free speech helps to ensure that the public can get both sides of an argument that they may become educated and make their own decisions regarding the material.  Currently the blame game is going around in circles and what makes me the most sick though is they are now using it to destroy the rights of the rest of us.  -B]

AmmoLand.com Interview

So I got an email yesterday morning asking if I was willing to be the blogger of the month for AmmoLand.com. I responded with a sure, why not. I’m not exactly sure why they chose me over so many other blogs out there, but it’s not as if I’ll refuse.

I did the interview last night and here it is. Enjoy.
