This is unsurprising and it’s disturbing that there are some places that still don’t have dashboard cameras even with brand new police cars. Why would anyone not want evidence that can be used to prove you did the right thing? Unless of course you so regularly abuse your authority you’re afraid of being caught.

I remember distinctly in high school a cop describing the horrors of a DUI accident scene. Me thinks this officer either didn’t get the memo or the cop from high school was lying.
Either way this officer definitely should have known better. At least his department gave him unpaid leave. Would be better if they canned his ass.

Because it’s only a problem to drive under the influence if you’re not a cop.
They dropped 9 additional charges including unlawful detention. The whole incident overall is very disturbing, especially since the incidents go all the way back to October 2010.
Remember though, many claim that the police should be given a monopoly on force because they are somehow anointed and worthy of magical trust. I’ve got more to add on that but I’m still letting my anger subside.

I’m sure he could move to Indy and they’d accept him with open arms. At least this guy didn’t run anyone over.
I’m glad he was busted for it, but you would think someone would notice before he hops in the car. Since so many seem to like the idea of punishing the many for the actions of the few, maybe we should install the DWI ignition disconnects in all police cars.
Hey, politicians want to confiscate my property which has never hurt anyone for the actions of a madman, seems fair to me.

This one is right out of my home town growing up.
Currently the officer is on vacation paid administrative leave and is being investigated by the Puyallup police department. Most disturbing was this:
“He asked, like, three different times if he could come inside,” Thomspson said.
Excuse me officer, why would you ask that question once, much less three times. Were you hoping she would give you coffee after assaulting her under color of law?

Because a position of trust is so easy to use to manipulate people who are young and naive, especially when that position is instructed by many to be obeyed without question.
Tell me, if someone threatened me and I opened fire on a car full of innocent people where would I be right now? These officers will not be punished despite their gross negligence of firing into a truck that was the wrong color to boot.
Of note though look at how the actions of a single man have put one of the largest police forces in the country on its toes. Tell me, how is it going to work attempting to confiscate guns from a bunch of people who don’t want them confiscated?
