SSCC #184 – Bainbridge PD

Bainbridge police officer and Police Guild President Scott Weiss has been given a 160-hour suspension in lieu of termination after a Washington State Patrol investigation found that he followed Council member Kim Brackett to the home of Council member Bill Knobloch for “personal reasons.” According to a Notice of Discipline issued by City Manager Brenda Bauer and Police Chief Jon Fehlman, Weiss was on duty and in a patrol car when he followed Brackett after a meeting at City Hall in October of 2010.

Now this is a very creepy way to do some “investigative journalism”. Though it ends up he violated ethical guidelines and departmental policy..

The Notice of Discipline noted that Weiss’s actions were directed at leaders of his employing agency, and cited numerous violations of the Bainbridge Island Police Department Canon of Ethics and General Orders Manual.

Given his willingness to violate them and then blog about it, wouldn’t one deem it better for the public to actually fire his ass?

State Sponsored Criminal Count #184: Scott Weiss

Because ethics and general orders are really just a guideline and don’t really have to be followed.

Ear Worm Wednesday – 11/16/2011

Don’t know why but I love both the song and the music video.

I think it’s probably because I remember playing cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, and god knows how many other games where we had a massive shootout just like at the end.  Sometimes I think it wouldn’t be too bad to be a kid again.  Then I remember I play with guns, explosives, and power tools on the weekend.  I think I’m good here.

SSCC Honorable Mention – Iberia Parish

An Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on charges related
to child pornography. Troopers say the investigation was actually
started by Iberia Parish detectives. They were investigating illegal
use of child pornography and suspected one of their own deputies was
involved. State Police was immediately contacted to take over the
investigation.

First, what legal use is there for child pornography?  Investigation of the crime I can kind of see, but I wouldn’t really call that a “legal use” as it is an investigation and collection of evidence of a crime.  This guy gets only an honorable mention for the following two reasons.

  1. They do not believe any of this was obtained while he was on duty.
  2. The sheriff has stated he will get no leniency as an LEO, and his employment was terminated immediately.

I’m glad he was caught and hope he meets someone in jail he put there.  Couple that with the reason why he’s there he’s going to be making the rounds in the showers.

Honorable Mention: Daniel Bourque

I’ve got nothing for this one, crap like this makes me feel sick.

That About Sums It Up

Some people are so blind as to not view the actions of the group ignoring blissfully their behavior.  Going so far as to completely ignore the fact that their “hypocrisy knows no bounds”.

If you’re unaware why I would make that last comment, occupy Oakland trashed a Wells Fargo and among others protesting the banks.  A few days later they opened a bank account to store their funds. So when I saw the following tonight I felt it a perfect description of #occupy $space.

Remember who they consider a bunch of crazy loons and a threat to society versus those who disparage law and order, those who abuse and believe women shouldn’t live free, those who would steal and destroy private property.

If #occupy was really about getting the government out of corporations and corporations out of government, they wouldn’t be demanding bailouts for students.  They wouldn’t be demanding larger government to aid in crony capitalism.  They wouldn’t be supporting Obamacare which destroys free enterprise and ties government and the healthcare industry together.  Notice a pattern here?  They want big government and the destruction of freedom and liberty.  One dumb friend said I was just afraid of that which I do not understand.  No I have a legitimate fear of mob rule where a bunch of miscreant come and destroy my property because I’m not willing to work as their slave.  I exchange my knowledge and skills for money with my employer, they want me taxed harder so I can bail out their bad decisions with regards to school and their personal finances.  A clue they actually have no want to actually solve the problem is the majority want to repeat by re-electing Obama who signed the very bailouts they’re protesting against.

F-off you spoiled rotten little shits.  You are not the 99%, you do not represent me and stop claiming as such.  The only thing I wish more is that I could obtain permission to deal with these dough-assed crack monkeys who are doing nothing but destroying private and public property, obstructing access and thus destroying private business, and preventing people from the right to freely exercise commerce on their property and the use of public lands for their personal edifice.  As I have said before and I will say again, your rights end when you are hampering the rights of others.  F-off you lazy hippie bums.  It’s not our damn fault you went and racked up a bunch of student debt on a degree that had absolutely zero job prospects.  That’s a poor investment on your part and government has no business in charity, the same as no duty to help businesses, and no duty to help someone with personal financial troubles.

I find it ironic that people paint the Tea Party as this evil group yet we’re all honest law abiding peaceable citizens.  Yet we’re the terrorists.

SSCC #183 – Panama City Beach

A DUI case against a former Panama City Beach police officer has been dismissed because no one could legally prosecute the charges before the defendant’s right to a speedy trial expired.

One must really wonder though why they were not able to prosecute his case within the necessary time. Even with the conflict of interest, why was the case allowed to be overlooked? Why did the state prosecutor not even bother to attempt to pursue the case?

This is yet another example of the state looking the other way when it’s their own breaking the law.

State Sponsored Criminal Count 183: David Lee Walker

Because when it’s one of your own that’s broken the law, kick it into someone else’s court that absolutely won’t care. Then he can get off on a technicality.

Winter is rolling onto the Palouse

I spent most of yesterday out in the garage cleaning out and putting stuff away that had accumulated there over summer.  Now that it’s cleaned up it can continue use as my make shift shop.  Getting space back was aided by switching the tractor back to winter mode with the snow blower.  It is now sitting primed at the entrance to the garage awaiting the first real snow fall.

I have a small chicken and the egg problem with my shop.  It’s currently storing a lot of stuff such as camping equipment, Christmas decorations, dive equipment, other tools and miscellaneous stuff.  It’s taking up a good chunk of the floor space and there’s no room for my tools.  The ceilings are high enough I can put up loft storage to store all of it but there’s no room for the tools to build it currently.

So I at least got the standby shop into a condition I can begin working again.  The goal is to finish up storage location A and move out all the stuff destined for the first location.  I have one problem left to be solved in the first storage system design.  I think I have it solved but I need to do some math to verify it will hold the weight.  Then next will be ammo storage racks and doing some rearranging in the shop.  Followed by some high shelves in the house to finish unpacking knickknacks and family memorabilia.  I will post pictures and details as I progress through the projects.

Lastly will be two custom workbenches.  One will be for the express purpose of reloading and firearm maintenance. This will be unique because it will be fully seal-able to keep wood dust and other shop dirt out of the work area and drawers.  The second will be my main workbench and will have built in storage for some of my more awkward tools.

At this point I should be able to move my tools and then I can start building the rest of the material to finish up the shop, such as a planer stand, and a permanent router table.

I do want to get the shop finished up because I there is some stuff I would like to start making to sell.  Not to mention I have some other ideas of stuff I can make and sell.

Speaking of which I made a simple shirt yesterday as well for AepilotJim that I just noticed I put in the wrong store.  It should be up here in the near future with a much wider selection than just t-shirts.  If you want to know what the shirt is, you can either listen to last Friday’s VC or wait for it appear in the store.

See instead of bitching about life and how it’s unfair I continue to work my ass off in one form or another.  Hell I spent time doing a bunch of work that I’m sure those who wasted time on useless degrees would never bother doing.  Doubly so since I didn’t even get paid for it, I did it to help some friends.  Thing is they probably could have offered to help for compensation and it would have been accepted.  Shoving insulation into walls suck but someone’s got to do it.  Running conduit and wiring has to be done by someone.  Taking care of all the plumbing has to be done by someone.  Notice a pattern here?  Next time actually get an education in something useful and in demand.

SSCC #182 – Lowell PD

A veteran Lowell police officer is on paid
administrative leave pending an internal investigation into reports that
he showed up for work the morning of Oct. 27 suspected of being drunk.

The BFD here through for the department is he was drunk for work, just like any other company.  However no one questions how the officer got to work, probably drove, the fact that he was drunk and in possession of a firearm, or any of the many other things wrong with this situation.

State Sponsored Criminal Count 182: Michael Sylvester

Because DUI and carrying a weapon while intoxicated only really applies to those who aren’t in law enforcement.

SSCC #174-181 Philadelphia PD

The male officer allegedly stuck his hand down the girl’s shirt and
touched her chest during the two-hour search in an auditorium full of
students at Harding Middle School on Oct. 24, according to the suit.

What was the search for I hear you cry?  Well here’s yet another example of the abysmal failure of zero tolerance.

Lawyer Michael Pileggi said his client told him that the search was being conducted because school officials believed a student might have brought a BB gun to school.

(Emphasis mine).  But wait, why didn’t they just use metal detectors to try and find the “weapon of mass destruction”?

The girl said the officer searched her body with the detector wand, which
revealed no evidence of a weapon. He then “physically patted down the
plaintiff touching her inappropriately,” the suit said. The officer
“placed his hand down plaintiff’s shirt and felt around her chest area.”

So let me get this straight, these officers, 8 of them, 6 male 2 female, felt it was necessary to pat down all the students even after they wanded them with a metal detector.  A girl so young that she’s probably as flat as a wall and wouldn’t have anyplace to hide anything much less a firearm.  None of the school administrators said a damn thing because they “trust” the police without question.

Remember though, beyond the taxpayer having to pay for the abuses by these officers nothing will happen to them thanks to the wonders of qualified immunity.

Every last one of those officers and school administrators should be fired.  Training is being used as an excuse to hide a lack of common sense and negligence.

State Sponsored Criminal Count: 181 These 8 are all Does since they weren’t listed.  Again if you find them send them to me.

Because as an officer every trusts you so you can do whatever the hell you want despite common sense and logic dictating otherwise.  If someone complains, the state will cover your ass.
