His points are valid and worthy of note. If you’re a gun owner remember you’re an ambassador and work on educating people outside the circles. Teaching is selling, and we need to educate the public about modern shooting sports.

I <3 Alan Gura. 🙂 I think that he hit the nail on the head – we have to choose between giving up our freedoms to (maybe but probably not) make ourselves safer, or between recognizing that the fundamental character of the United States is a nation of free people while still trying to deal with the minority of Americans who are crazy or evil. It's a tough battle about what we want to represent as a country, and distilling it down to a facile mock-debate about "gun control for our children" misses the much broader context.
Not only that, but the “gun control for our children” is merely a political ploy that has been used by despots through history.
