SSCC #442 – Cleburne

A Cleburne teenager was hit with a Taser by police while he was having a medical emergency, and the incident was caught on tape.

So what kind of medical emergency was it?

The 19-year-old driver was in a hypoglycemic state. He’s diabetic. His blood sugar was dangerously low.

The kid was unresponsive and the officers response was to tase the kid.  Then the medics tell the officer what was wrong and the officer knows he’s in trouble.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this either.

Because again, your first response should always be force.  That way you can compound the medical emergency.

Your Awesome Video For Friday…

That takes some serious skill.  Maintaining a drift in a car is pretty hard but doing it on a bike is down right insane.

Yes Please…

So I avoid paying attention to new video games because frankly it just kills my productivity.  I’ve got ton’s of other stuff to do so playing games while I do it still from time to time just can’t occupy so much time.  So when I saw this trailer over at RNS I started drooling.

My immediate comment was with a speech like that, yes you make me want to get that game.  My coworkers fell over laughing when I made the comment, “Who doesn’t like smacking a Red Coat in the face with a tomahawk?”

So when I saw this today all I could think was AWESOME!

Yes, I  think this is going to be one of the few games I do pick up.  I liked Assassin’s Creed and as I said, I wouldn’t mind  being able to smash a Red Coat in the face.

Hey, I know a couple of these people

My friends run the Whiskey Barrel Cider Company.  It’s nice seeing it moving forward.

SSCC #435&#436: NYPD

The Brooklyn DA and NYPD Internal Affairs are investigating cops caught on tape beating a man wrongly suspected of trespassing in a Crown Heights synagogue, authorities said yesterday.

So the security guard screwed up and called police when he really didn’t need to.  However this is how the cops behaved upon showing up:

To put the icing on the cake.  Here is how the department has responded to the behavior of the officers.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said one of the cops involved, a 49-year-old man, “has been placed on modified assignment.”

Yup, business as usual for our anointed overlords.  When they say “To Protect and Serve” they really just are leaving off the hidden word at the end, “Themselves.”

Because by all means beat the hell out of someone without actually talking to them first.

The Truth About…

First up, beware, drama llama within, some of you wont really care about the following post.  Anyone just coming into the gun rights community and anyone interested in gun rights should be at least be aware of what follows.

So earlier this week I had a quote of the day from Oleg and the subject of his quote was left intentionally vague.  I left it vague because honestly I would rather people not drive traffic to this person or his website.  The list of reasons I would rather people not visit this person or provide him traffic is long and distinguished.

If you’re unaware of exactly who I am talking about, Linoge has done a nice and detailed post explaining exactly why this person should not be accepted or welcomed within the community.  Now I warned you, the list is extremely long and the post is quite easily labeled an uber-post.  The sad thing is, you will notice it is long mainly because the number of transgressions is quite large.

While this person has not personally slighted me, he has slighted people I know, and not just know but some I have a very deep respect for.  His solution to polite and civil requests is to just claim what he did is legal, with no accounts for morals or mutual respect.  He claims to be a supporter of the Second Amendment but runs his website in the same manner as Joan Peterson.

I do know he has upset a few folks that honestly I would never want to be on the bad side of.    Even more importantly, one individual that was upset has done more than any other person to help reclaim and reestablish gun rights in this country.  This also doesn’t even touch on his treatment of Emily Miller.

It should be noted that the reason Linoge named both the individual and the blog is to hopefully help with search traffic.  The individual in question is quite good at search engine optimization so it is quite difficult to actually dig up information on the grievances he has caused.

Also it should be noted that like Jennifer I have no issue with making money from blogging.  Notice I now have an ad on the right again.  While there is no way I will ever get rich from this, I would at least like to make it self-sustaining.  What I do have a serious problem with though, is taking other people’s work and then attempting to profit off of it.

So please, ignore the troll, shun him like you should, and if he steals your content, blog about it, email him, and contact Linoge to be added to the list.  If you’re feeling really frisky, pursue legal action, it is well known he’s making money from the blog, thus off of your work.

So That’s What It Looks Like…

From the right front seat of an EA-6B.  As this route is out of the PNW, WA to be exact, I’m reasonably sure my dad probably saw it first hand.

I like my whiskey… (Hint: Dry Fly if you want to get me a bottle!)

So on Wednesday after the funeral the wife and I decided to hit up a couple places in Spokompton while we were there.  First on the list was the Dry Fly Distillery.

We showed up just as they were about to start a batch of Washington Wheat, which comes highly recommended by the way.  Even the wife drinks it straight.  I have known about Dry Fly for a while but I only knew about their Vodka and Gin.  At GBR, one of the bloggers brought a bottle of Washington Wheat, there was nothing left in the bottle by the end of Saturday night.

They had their hours listed online but we showed up at just the right time because one of the owners (sorry I forgot the name) was utterly awesome and gave us a quick personal tour.  It was quick because process for grinding the wheat and making the mash is quite loud.

He gave us a rundown on the process and explained how they do their distillation differently than most other companies, and the key is this:

Most companies will distill the alcohol over and over to achieve the correct purity, instead they have a quite long tube for condensing so they can dump the top and bottom and keep the middle.  Yes that thing is huge.

After he walked us through the distilling process for their gin, vodka, and whiskey, we went to the back where they age the whiskey in barrels.

It ends up they have additional whiskey types coming out this December.  Currently you can get Bourbon and Washington Wheat, there are two more coming and one will not have any equivalent like it in the world.  They are the first to use this particular seed for whiskey, yes I am excited!  And yes I want one of those barrels!

One of these weekends the wife and I will have to go so we can get a more formal tour, I am awesomely impressed though that the owner went out of his way to give a tour!

If you’ve never had a chance to try Dry Fly I highly suggest it.  I haven’t had a chance to try their Bourbon yet, but the Washington Wheat is down right dangerous.

From there we hit up Cabela’s.  We had a few things we needed to pick up so we decided to walk through and grab what we needed since we were there.  First up, proof we’re winning!

IMAG0392

Now I wouldn’t pay that much for a box of M855(SS109), but still the fact they’re front and center at Cabela’s, that’s awesome!  We found a pile of new shirts for me and the wife picked up a new bed set.  On our way out though was this piece of awesome!

IMAG0393

Yeah, this wasn’t surprising considering this was again at Cabela’s and in North Idaho, it was actually kind of expected, but down right awesome never the less.
