Bill Whittle On Envy

Well said as always:

Here’s another good one:

If my tax rate went up, but everyone was guaranteed to pay the same exact rate, I would support it.  No more out’s, no more credits, no more deductions.  Just a simple equations, “Your Income” x “Tax Rate” = “What you owe” and the tax rate is the same no matter who you are or what you make.

I am more than willing because I know that tax rate won’t last for long as every last incumbent is voted out of office until the tax rates are finally lowered for everyone.  You’re much less willing to support a tax when it’s your money the government is taking.

Hey Hey Kids! It’s that time of year again!

Lets play finish the article!  Here’s the headline:

University of Idaho student in stable condition after fall from roof

No cheating first we need to collect ideas of what happened.

First up it’s a student so my immediate guess is this individual was at a Fraternity or Sorority when this incident occurred.  Write down if you agree or disagree, the answer follows.

… after falling from the roof of his fraternity shortly after midnight Wednesday morning.

I am shocked, I say shocked that an upstanding young student from the Greek system would find himself in such a position.  It’s not like this thing hasn’t happened before.  As a note, there was an individual that fell at WSU August 23rd, though it was just a party house not associated with the Greek system.

Next wild ass guess, though I will admit it’s not really that wild… Alcohol was a factor in the accident!  What say you gentle reader, do you think this individual was sober when he decided to venture across the top of his humble abode?

… but there was also alcohol involved,” said Moscow Police Chief David Duke.

[sarcasm]Damn, I was really thinking he was stone cold sober![/sarcasm]

How sad is it that I can just read the headline and know exactly what happened like a standard write-up with fill in the blanks.  The only difference in the name of the individual, frat house, school, and responding agency.

Why would I bring this all up though?  Well remember though that these individuals are not the majority of students and yet they are the shining examples used by the anti-rights cultists that concealed carry shouldn’t be allowed on campus.  Unsurprisingly though their examples are often criminals as well.  Not to mention the criminal incidents that don’t get reported by the media, some so horrible  they should issue hunting tags for the animals who did it.  All the while the school looks the other way or attempts to blame the victim (seriously).  (As a FYI, that references two different independent incidents believe it or not.)  WSU doesn’t like the black eye these types of events bring and does anything it can to hide it.

I find it interesting though that the example group our opponents use against college carry often find themselves in situations that would otherwise preclude them from carrying.  Drunk, underage, drug use, etc.  Yet our opponents use them as their example to disarm others who merely go to class and go home.  Ensuring that they can remain easy victims for the predators they oh so clearly support.

As a side note, we often talk about self-defense and avoiding risky situations.  Going into Greek row, more specifically attending any kind of party there I consider high risk, especially for the fairer sex.  It’s not the way it should be, but it’s the way it is.  Know that it’s high risk and act accordingly, preferably just avoid the damn thing.

Some things aren’t allowed in prison.

Joe Huffman – Comment while driving home from GBR.

September 9th, 2012

[This comment was made on our way home after we were detained because of a little incident.

You see, we were originally planning on driving straight through prison.  No stops, don’t bother doing anything just stash the goods and go.  Well as we rolled up to the scene we started playing the game of, “Stash the goods”.  We were by no means close to the border either.

On the upside it was a chance to move around and stretch, however I know I wish the stop hadn’t been necessary and I’m reasonably sure others would agree.  We are reasonably sure that someone either got really lucky, or really unlucky.  The other person was in the middle and got the joy of being air lifted.  Joe and I both think there were two people on the motorcycle involved and they only loaded one in to the helicopter.  The bike itself had a second seat too.  But moving on…

While we were standing there taking pictures and the like, after stashing the goods, Joe then ponders the following: “I wonder what the legality of our knives are.”  For you see, neither he, nor your humble scribe bothered to remove our knives and stash them in bag of holding.  To which I reply, “you’re probably fine, it’s a simple locking blade, I on the other hand am !@#$ed.”  I then smoothly unclip my knife and slip it all the way in my pocket.  I don’t feel like finding out how California views spring assist first hand.  As I do this, Joe replies with the above.

I felt it quite fitting. Joe and I were able to escape prison a short time later.  With many telling us to get the hell out of dodge.

We had no further problems as we made our break for the border. –B]

First you don’t shoot, then you apologize for it?

So this morning a bunch of miscreants invaded sovereign US soil.  The knocked down a wall, took down the flag and burned it.  The response by the embassy security detail was how shall we say, lacking.

Linoge I think was onto something when he said the embassy boss didn’t want to standing in front of a board trying to explain fatalities.  This is why I probably am not, and will never be an overseas ambassador.  My solution would match the below.

Childers in Rules of Engagement had the right idea.  (Sorry for the music going over top).

Not only did he defend the sovereign US soil, he retrieved and protected the American flag. The embassy is US soil folks.  For those who do not understand what I am saying, this was equivalent to them invading somewhere in the states.  If someone breaks into your house, you can shoot the bastards, and in this case people breaking into your house is the equivalent to an act of war.

So here’s a news flash to the US Egyptian Embassy, next time do your freaking job, defend the embassy, the flag, and do not apologize for their aggressionThen again we have a president who supports the Muslim Brotherhood so what should we expect?  I wouldn’t be surprised if the embassy was told to let them be run over.  Heaven forbid we actually defend America.

I know every last Marine in that embassy is feeling sick because they were prevented from doing what they’ve been trained to do.  Pardon me while I go watch a movie now.

A New Personal Best

Today I spent some time behind Joe’s .300 Win Mag.  My previous long distance best for regular confirmed shots was at 700 yards.  3 inch targets that explode are a great method of hit confirmation.

Today thought my new personal best for repeated consistent hits is 957 yards.  There was a steel plate and hits were audibly confirmed and impact points were visible through trace.

I am quite pleased with myself.  Unfamiliar rifle to both Joe and I since it wasn’t zeroed and hadn’t been shot regularly.  Joe’s app made life much easier, but I am quite pleased with the number of times I rung that gong.

Now to sit back and chat.  Enjoy this picture from Drang.

Quote of the Day – Frank Fleming

I hear the DNC had a video tribute to Ted Kennedy, the only politician with a confirmed kill in the War on Women.

Frank Fleming (@IMAO_) – Tweet (via Alan Gura)

[All I can think to add to this is, “That’s about par for the course.”  I did make a tweet about the hypocrisy of the DNC requiring ID to get in, but you don’t need ID to vote.  Someone replied saying the following:

It’s called security you know secret service.

I didn’t realize they needed photo ID before they searched you or your belongings for “security”.  Sounds like a great excuse to keep out “undesirables.”

Joe and I were driving across Nevada as the thing went down though we were getting updates via Bitter and others.  The feeling I got by the end was the hypocrisy coming from them was so thick it could have been granite by the time it was all over.  -B]

SSCC #395 – Baton Rouge

An 18-year-old was shot and killed by a deputy. That teen’s family has now filed a federal suit claiming it was a wrongful death. Could the deputy’s past have foretold the future?

What did this young man do to deserve such a reaction from the officer?

“He was approaching the police to help them. He was telling them you’ve got the wrong person. You’ve got the wrong person. He had his hands in the air when the officer turned and shot him point blank, and he fell. When he hit the ground, he still had his hands above his head,” said attorney Donna Grodner.

This isn’t even an issue of he said she said.  The Sheriff supported the statement and continue on further to add the following:

“We have no reason at this time to believe that this 18-year-old did anything wrong and certainly, I want to make that clear. He was unarmed. I’m not saying he violated any laws what so ever,” said Sheriff Edwards.

So given the Sheriff is supporting the family, why would this be a SSCC?  It’s a prime example of why I do this and why I want officers fired immediately upon misconduct.

“Chief Nelson was the police chief at that time, and he recommended the city council terminate his employment because of numerous complaints against him,” said Chief Ambeau.

Complaints like verbal and written warning notices regarding his unauthorized absence, failure to follow the law and leaving well before his shift was over.

The minutes from that August 2001 council meeting showed the chief and council members frustrated with all the complaints against the officer. It only got worse when it came to then-St. Gabriel Mayor George Grace.

That’s right folks, this officer had a history and now someone finally ended up dead because of this officer.  Worst thing about this is I have no doubt that officer went home and slept like a baby.

The fact is officers don’t normally jump into the deep end off the bat. They slowly work their way up and administrators and public officials need to pay attention to the warning signs and have the balls to say, “Son you’re not going to work here.”

State Sponsored Criminal #395:  William Phebus

Because really what you see when an officer has been fired numerous times is a cheap employee, don’t worry about why he was fired, he won’t want to do it again.
