So it appears that some Marine got to do something so many of us only get to dream about doing.
Getting to tell Barbra Streisand and her husband to basically F’ Off not just once, buttwice! How can you get any better than that? I’m sure there are ways but that ranks right up there.
Marine, where ever you are, stand proud. The only way that could have gotten better is to also ask her to stop singing for the sake of humanity.
Let’s compare and contrast the following two people, what they did, and the reactions by the American Media.
For those who don’t recognize the pictures, on the left we have former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, on the right we have Attorney General Eric Holder.
The significant similarities necessary for this discussion:
Both are tied to the highest position within the Department of Justice.
Both committed questionable acts while in that position.
Both were disliked by large parts of the American people for their actions.
Both acted in a manner with the express intent of undermining and destroying enumerated rights.
Differences:
Eric Holder’s decisions resulted in the deaths of both American and Mexican civilians.
Eric Holder refused to process cases where the American public was intimidated from exercising their rights.
Alberto Gonzales was forced to resign while Holder continues to retain his position.
Eric Holder was found in contempt of congress. Eric Holder has not been arrested despite the ability for congress to do so.
The Congressional “no-confidence” vote against Gonzales did not succeed.
Alberto Gonzales was appointed by President George Bush.
Eric Holder was appointed by President Barack Obama.
For those who may not remember the details. Here is the quick rundown of the two big scandals under Holder.
So while the comments and behavior of Gonzales was despicable and worthy of question, why has AG Holder been allowed to remain? There is a man responsible for creating programs with the express purpose of illegally undermining a constitutional right. Programs that resulted in the deaths of members of the public. A man who has been found in contempt of congress, yet no one seems to have the balls to actually fire him.
Ultimately the biggest difference between these two is the men who were responsible for appointing them. Because honestly that’s the only reason Eric Holder has been able to continue in his position. Remember that the next time some tells you about how the media isn’t biased.
Now I laughed and chuckled, I would have still laughed if someone had done it to a Republican headquarters. What got me thinking though was the following statement from the County Democratic Chair.
Respectful disagreements, lets talk about this word respectful. Those on your side of the debate have been nothing but rude, bigoted, and down right evil. How evil?
Now supposedly the union isn’t supporting the teacher but I think that’s mainly because it’s obvious how bad the teacher stepped in it in this instance. Moving forward though we have the bus driver who informed a young man that his mother should have aborted him.
Yup, that’s a real civilized respectful disagreement right there. Especially since this man felt he needed to attack a 12 year old child for his families political views. Bummer the bigot couldn’t pick on someone his own size.
But wait, there’s more! This call for respectful disagreement is also coming from the same party who is so tied into the unions they conscript their support from union membership.
How is that for a respectful disagreement? Force support for your party by holding a person hostage by keeping them from feeding themselves or their family by tacking on a fine. Now some may claim that you don’t have to join the union. That only holds true if you’re in a right to work state. You could always go find a job elsewhere that doesn’t have a union, but often the union will do everything to get a monopoly on the industry to force membership.
Moving even further forward, lets do a quick look back into history shall we?
So they did this to themselves, which works well when you can control the narrative and say it was the other side. It fails when you’re minions get caught. Now there was a window that recently broke in Alabama and again the Dems ran off claiming people were shooting at them, mainly the Republicans and independents that can’t have a respectful disagreement. Lets look at what really happened.
However, now there are reports that not only is the robocalling giving out false dates to votes, but an Obama door-to-door campaign targeting seniors in a county that went Republican is also giving out the false dates, I’m not so sure this is an accident.
Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three or more times is enemy action. Well bad news for the opposition, I don’t believe in coincidence. Even then the robocalls and door to door mistakes are truly two separate incidents for a count of three. It is well known and common knowledge the date of the election and informing people in mass of a incorrect date, especially in a county likely to vote against you is just wrong, deceitful, and again not an example of someone engaging in a “respectful disagreement”. Yeah, with regards to her use of the word respectful…
Then again, a party whose membership consists of people using the power of the state to rob from others to give to themselves wouldn’t really understand respect if it walked up and slapped them in the face. Respectful would be letting people keep what they had earned.
Now why would I bring this up, while I am currently doing my best to be respectful to those of differing opinions? Their right to have me remain respectful ends when they’re no longer respectful to me. Even more than that, they have no right to my respect when they are taking my property and work for their own because honestly, where’s the respect in that?
We’ve said this for a while but every once in a while someone bats for Obama saying how he hasn’t done anything against gun rights, much less said he would do anything to infringe on the Second Amendment. Still think Obama is all sunshine and unicorn farts when it comes to the Second Amendment?
Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
(Emphasis mine.) And just to make sure it doesn’t go down the memory hole, here’s a screen shot of the entire page as of 1330 PDT October 10th, 2012.
Remember these facts when going to the polls or talking with others. He is not a supporter of the Second Amendment and if he had his way personal ownership of firearms would be outlawed tomorrow.
Lets not even get started on the Fast and Furious debacle either. As always, vote out the incumbents.
Comments Off on Quote of the Day–Adam Kline (10/3/2012)
The NRA thrives on weak challenges; it sees them as fundraising opportunities. Its supporters are ready to believe that any gun bill — no matter how rational its purpose or how minor its scope — is a threat to God-given and constitutionally protected rights, and will contribute generously, giving the organization not only the psychological momentum of a win, but likely a surplus as well. It is up to us to choose our battles wisely.
[h/t to Joe for the article. First, side rant. Adam Kline also said the following:
The way it works in this democracy is that we legislators represent our constituents. We can get a majority of our colleagues on an issue when enough of us sense that the people are there, or almost there, or at least going there, and that we may have to push them there, but at the end of the day our risk will not have been wasted. The work of moving public opinion on an issue cannot be done by legislators alone, whose work makes us generalists, but must be done by the activists who care particularly about that issue.
We don’t live in a democracy Mr. Kline. We live in a constitutional republic. I realize though that a majority of those who now work in the legislative bodies are ignorant of how the system was actually designed to work and prefer to twist and manipulate it to destroy the rights of the minority. For you see a democracy is nothing more than mob-rule. If the mob wants to take your property, they can. If the mob wants to kill you, they can. If the mob decides they would rather bleed you dry like a slave, they can. The point of a constitutional republic is that both the majority and minority are protected equally.
Now back to the quote at hand, more specifically the part emphasized. There is a reason we view it as a threat to a natural and enumerated right. Because it IS! I grew up in the age of the 1994 assault weapons ban. I remember it quite well and it’s goal was down right obvious. Don’t believe me? The most popular rifle in America would still be banned if it wasn’t for the expiration of the AWB.
That was claimed by supporters as being rational and the only way to curb gun violence. The thing is, statistically gun control has been proven to be ineffective over and over again. Further when you compare nations with strong gun controls it becomes obvious it creates a world that is less safe for the law abiding.
That is the crux Mr. Kline. The American public no longer likes being criminalized by the government for merely having and effective tool of self defense. The American public sees what you’re doing and claiming for exactly what it is. You’re issue is that you can no longer control the narrative. Not only can you not control the narrative but you’re upset because the people on your side of the debate are crazy and violent. Because of this your side of the debate is left standing still every time you attempt to infringe on that natural and enumerated right.
It is however unsurprising that you find your home the Peoples Republic of Puget Sound and you feel your “majority” other wise known merely as Seattle is a right for you to dictate life throughout the rest of the state. I doubt this will make any difference given the 37th Legislative district is the equivalent of Communist China, but if you live there, please send that tyrant home.
So in closing Mr. Kline, in the words of Melvin Udall, “Where did they teach you to talk like this, some Panama City sailor wanna hump hump bar, or is this get-a-way day and your last shot at his whiskey, sell crazy some place else, we’re all stocked up here.” -B]
So I stumbled across the following today which while isn’t news to me may be news to others, and even more so may be discounted or considered untrue. I initially wanted to cover this as I went through the my “Power Series” posts and I touched on it on an episode of Vicious Circle but I think it’s time for me to write it all out.
This is considered just common knowledge to those within the utility industry. The reason being is because our legislators are ignoring not just the laws of economics but also the laws of physics.
For the purpose of this example I am going to talk specifically about the Pacific North West, more specifically Washington.
In the mid-2000’s Governor Gregiore decided that hydro-electric dams are not a renewable resource and that by 2020, 20% of the state’s electricity will be “renewable”, read that as wind power. As an FYI for those out of the area, we pay approximately 4-5 cents per KWh for hydro up here. Hydro is cheap and plentiful here in the Pacific North West, so much so we ship a good chunk of it to California.
To further encourage the construction of wind farms beyond the mandate the operating costs are subsidized by the state. The cost even subsidized for a wind farm in the area is approximately 15-17 cents per KWh. Yes you read that right, 3 times as much even with the state subsidizing it’s operation.
Except wind is not as “Green” as everyone makes it out to be. You see wind can quickly come and go. This means generation can quickly come and go offline merely based on what the weather does. This is a problem because power is consumed on an on-demand basis. You don’t want your lights turning on in the middle of the night right? Just the same you don’t like the power going out while you’re working on your computer writing up that report for work. Part of the whole “smart house” push is so that the utilities can control the load as well such as your refrigerator, dryer, etc., to shed load when necessary.
It makes sense and it sounds good, but ultimately I’m paying for a service and you can either provide it or you cannot. Well the biggest problem with wind is how quickly it can disappear. Generators don’t start instantly and other generation in the system doesn’t instantly spin up to supply power to the load. There is inertia involved and to increase the power means you need to increase the torque etc. The sudden decline in power being supplied while the load remains constant can cause system instability.
The solution to this problem is to have an onsite generator(s) at a wind farm that idles while the wind farm is producing power. Usually this takes the form of a Natural Gas Turbine generator. As the wind dies off the generator spools up to take the load. Then the generator slowly spools back down to let the rest of the grid slowly absorb the power load. So in other words your wind generator is burning fuel in a turbine, running as inefficiently as possible so it can pick up the load in event of a rapid loss of wind.
Out here in the Pacific North West this becomes very apparent in the spring with the high spring run off as well as peak winds through the area. This past year the utilities were forced by the state to buy power from the wind farms while shutting down the dams.
Yes you read that right, the utilities were forced to buy more expensive power and leave cheaper power idle. Not only were the dams forced to be idle, but because it occurred during peak run off, they were forced to dump water over the spillway and waste it. Instead of following the laws of economics, they were tossed to the side and instead of the wind, the more expensive power providing the back fill for what hydro couldn’t provide, the roles were reversed, and for what?
Ultimately this does nothing but increase the rates for energy consumption. Doubly so since the dam has increased costs because instead of it producing power, it’s forced to be shutdown, despite it being the more efficient and cheaper power producer.
This is what happens when politicians get involved in economics and start regulating business. Instead of the consumer getting a better deal, they get a more expensive product and overall crappier service due to the power swings that come with the fluctuations in wind.
Then again, the goals of our politicians could be much more sinister.
It appears that there is credible information suggesting another terrorist attack is going to occur in the middle east. You know much like the first one that killed a US Ambassador and 3 other US citizens. Our fearless leaders response can be summed up with the following statement:
Umm, why are we still sending money to that crap hole? Seriously, why is anyone in our government still contemplating sending our money to those who will just use it to kill our own civilians.
Yeah, Reason magazines response I think fits this incident quite well.
Lets not ignore the fact that this administration still tries to blame a video for something that is actually a terrorist action. I watched the video and it doesn’t even qualify as something that would even fit into Grindhouse cinema. Some of us have woke the fuck up, there’s plenty more than continue to want to rack up debt and fund our enemies, who’s really asleep at the wheel here?
