And Here’s the Big One, Washington State AWB (SB 5737)

Came across this one tonight, read for the first time today.

AN ACT Relating to banning the sale of assault weapons; reenacting and amending RCW 9.41.010 and 9.94A.515; adding a new section to chapter 9.41 RCW; and prescribing penalties.

The bill in question is SB 5737.  Contact your state representatives, though I have also learned of another important tact.  Contact those in charge of the committees examining the bills.  If you can get the committee to kill the bill it’s better overall.

In this case it is the Law and Justice committee, and you should contact the following people:

My state rep informed us last night that bills are starting to lock down on whether or not they will actually be moving forward.  By the end of next week he said bills that haven’t even got through committee won’t be going anywhere.

We’re in the home stretch.  Keep up the pressure, yes it’s tiring, exhausting, and honestly shouldn’t even have to be doing this fight.  Instead there’s a group of individuals who constantly insist on throwing us under the bus.

Random Thought (2/13/2013)

So yesterday Sebastian came across a video and they had closed comments but you could do the thumbs up or down rating.  The video in question started making the rounds.  Low and behold they all the sudden disabled the rating system on the video.  I think I might see why because here’s the snapshot of the ratings when they disabled it.

The dislikes started coming in hard and fast.  This got me thinking.

Gun control proponents claim that gun owners are nothing more than a bunch of inbred, uneducated, knuckle dragging neanderthals.  They claim to out number gun owners in support for their cause.  I have a problem though, lets look at the Candle Light Vigil video stats.  Click the “i” button in the upper right for stat info.

While yes it doesn’t have the views, lets look at the positive to negative vote ratio… Lets do the same to my LAPD police qualification video.

Again, very strong positive viewing rate.  We can do the same with a video from the NRA.

That’s a ratio of 3 to 1 in support of the video.

It was noted by Sebastian that the gun control movement is a movement of old white people.  Old people are not necessarily the best at using or understanding technology.

So a couple different options to explain this discrepancy and their love of reasoned discourse.

1.  Gun owners are not the uneducated knuckle dragging neanderthals they claim us to be.  If we are in the minority, we are in fact more educated and technically literate as we have a larger presence on this series of tubes known as the internet.

2.  They are in fact a movement of old white people with very limited support from the younger generation.  Their projection of us being a group of uneducated hillbillies is merely a reflection of how they view themselves.

3.  They are actually in fact the minority position and cannot garner support overall.  If we assume an even distribution of technically skilled and adept people on each side, this would indicate that gun owners far out number our opponents.

Given my personal experience, people who support the right to keep and bear arms are often extremely intelligent.  To give you a quick example, the members of the 2nd Amendment Gun Club at Washington State University were predominately engineering majors and no one was going for a BA, everyone was working towards a BS.  While every group will have outliers, the assumption that all gun owners are uneducated and not very intelligent is blatantly false.

This would point towards option 1 as well as option 2 as being most likely.  Option 3 is also quite likely because even in places like Facebook the Brady Campaign fails to generate the kind of support in likes that is enjoyed by the NRA.

I think their unwillingness to stand up and defend their position through comments and general video ratings has exposed the truth of their soft underbelly.  We have a fight on our hands and we just need to keep up the work.

Quote of the Day – Sebastian (2/6/2013)

Journalists just assume this stuff is true, and print it as truth, but the truth is that the gun culture changed first, and then the gun culture changed the industry. The industry did not change the gun culture. When is the left going to recognize that this is a movement composed of millions of actual people? Thinking people. People who are often smarter than the journalists who write this crap.

[When is the left going to realize that fact?  Never.  They want to destroy us and our culture.  They want to imprison us for being different and daring to be independent.  They hate who we are and what we represent and they will peddle any lie they can to help them accomplish their goal.

The idea that this culture is big enough and massive enough to move whole industries is unfathomable to them.  The idea that a rifle became popular due to its utilitarian value just the same is blasphemy.  They are trying to understand and comprehend a culture and an environment they know nothing about.

When you cannot even get basic nomenclature correct, when you constantly describe things incorrectly, it should be obvious that you don’t know what you’re talking about.  Alas they double down on stupid because they have no interest in learning, just in criminalizing those they hate with differing opinions. -B]

SSCC #515 & #516 –Houston

Emerson Canizales, 26, of Kingwood, and Michael Miceli, 26, of Humble, were paid $1,000 a piece to protect the drugs. They now face up to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to a federal indictment.

On the upshot they are facing a possible life sentence, though this wouldn’t be a problem if the state didn’t create the criminal environment to begin with.

Well Said Sir!

This is by far one of the best speeches I’ve seen directed towards the petty tyrants attacking our rights.

Good to see I’m not alone in getting angry for much the same reasons, and honestly has more of a reason than anyone else to be angry.

And yes, I was grinning as he called those representatives tyrants.

Along the same lines we need more people in politics like this mayor.  If you haven’t seen this video, I suggest watching it to the end.

I like how the mayor called out the two petty tyrants at the end.  Hopefully that ass who walked out is recalled from office.

SSCC #511 – TSA

A Charlotte woman told Eyewitness News she also had cash stolen from a TSA baggage inspector at Charlotte Douglas airport.

Reggie Edwards was arrested and charged with stealing cash out of a suitcase.

Edwards was arrested again Thursday after police said they linked him to stealing $150 from a woman’s suitcase just weeks before.

So much for their “zero tolerance” policy on stealing.  Someone explain to me how schools can take “zero tolerance” to a level where it resembles “zero brains”; yet the TSA runs it so low as to make it seem like it’s, “do nothing”.

State Sponsored Criminal #511: Reggie Edwards

Because when you get caught stealing as a TSA agent, your only mistake was getting caught.  Have no fear though, you won’t be fired.

Quote of the Day – LawDog (1/31/2013)

And when it comes down to brass tacks, the individual is the only person ultimately responsible for his — or her — own safety. Part of that responsibility involves being able to defend your own self, with appropriate tools.

Gun control is denying you those tools in exchange for the nebulous assurance that the police will “do their best”.

“Doing their best” oft involves putting a toe-tag on your corpse and finding the guy that killed you so that he can plea bargain his way out of an extended sentence, but that’s gun control for you.

[First, go read his whole post and watch the linked video.  That is by far the best example I have ever seen to show the complete and utter failure that gun-free-zones are.

Lastly, those paragraphs are the central point of this debate and you either admit this harsh reality, or you pretend that unicorn farts do exist and you want the force of state to coerce others into giving up their tools for non-existent unicorn farts.

This is the world our opponents want.  This is the world many of our elected representatives want to force upon us.  Make no mistake, they want the strong to prey upon the weak and they want the state to have a total monopoly on force.  -B]

SSCC #510 : Oakland County

Oakland County prosecutors have dropped 16 drug cases in recent months — including one involving a large-scale marijuana bust — after an investigation determined a deputy on the county’s narcotics enforcement team falsified a search warrant and lied under oath.

County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said she learned in September that Marc Ferguson, now fired, opened a shipping container at YRC Freight in Pontiac without a search warrant in June 2011. He discovered 78 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $300,000.

He has been fired, however I think that was more because of the fact his actions and getting caught compromised hundreds of cases.  No word on him being charged for violating peoples rights, and more importantly though as usual:

Ferguson was fired in December, following an internal investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. He has filed a grievance to get his job back.

I’m reasonably sure he will get his job back, Officer Roid Rage did.

Because when you violate someone’s rights being held accountable becomes a relative term when you’re a cop.
