Boomershoot 2011

Here is a quick post on some of the more broad points of Boomershoot 2011.  I was out there Thursday-Sunday, and camped Friday and Saturday night.  I must say, from now on I’m camping out there, it greatly simplified things even though I only live about an hour and twenty minutes away.

This post is going to focus on Sunday, I’ll make one that covers Friday and Saturday later.

Sunday kicked off with a wonderful fireball created by Ry

I got some other pictures of it turning into the mushroom cloud but I was just too close.  Hopefully we’ll get the pictures from Rolf some time soon.

At lunch there was the normal anvil shoot as well as a slightly new addition.

These guys were lobbing bowling balls 600 yards easy.  They also looked damn impressive when they went off.

The anvil shot was impressive as always.

80 pounds tossed like a pizza.  Pictures of guns and shooters at Boomershoot will be randomly posted with comments throughout the year.  I’ve got so many pictures I can’t just pack them all in one post.  A video though should cover it.

There were some other lessons learned and other comments to make as well, but yet again, for another post.

Quote of the Day–Patrick(05/02/2011)

However, I think this quote from her is proof that because they act with a hive mind, they believe we do as well.  As if I’m sitting here, in IRC, telling others what to publish on her blog.  I’ve been in the gunbloggers channel.  We rarely even mention political gun stuff.  It’s mostly about alcohol, NSFW pics, and just general insanity.

Patrick, Joan Peterson Thinks Gunnies Are A Single Entity

[Anyone who has ever spent 10 minutes around gunnies knows that Patrick nailed this on the head.  We do not plan, scheme, or otherwise come up with hive strategies for dealing with those who would take our rights.  Instead when we get together we talk about guns, explosives, beer, sex, real alcohol, and just about anything else you can think of other than politics.  Just spending 5 minutes in the GBC will probably land you at least one NSFW link. Boobs are awesome though. If the anti-gunners come up in discussion we basically make the same comments to each other we would otherwise on their websites.

Joan, you’re a freaking idiot.  When mikeb rolls through the pro gun blogs making stupid idiotic statements, are you policing him? –B]

21 Days of Boomershoot–Day 20 (2011)

The chemistry set, without this nothing would go boom.  There’s actually two mixers running during full production.  This year I’m going to try and spend some time out there and help, if nothing else finally document the effort for everyone else to see.SDC10823

Some must die for others to be a “Hero”

An off duty cop, not in uniform shot a man in front of his wife in his own house today.  The man ran after the off duty officer pulled a gun and yelled at the individual he was a cop and proceeded to run at him.

Moments later, "Josh ran into the house, slammed the door and fell," said Britton, 22.

"I said, ‘What are you running for?’ And then he [the off-duty cop] opened the door like he was welcome in our house," Britton said.

"He didn’t have a badge. He didn’t have a warrant. He took a breath, looked at me, and shot Josh. And then he turned and ran."

The officer needs to be jailed, he is responsible, there’s numerous versions of the story but he should have called police instead of running up kicking in the door of the house and just shooting him.  The cop was not in uniform, not on duty, not in his jurisdiction, and had no real business other than calling in what he perceived to be suspicious behavior.  I honestly wish in this case the home owner had shot the off duty cop, the guy obviously wanted to be a hero and sadly this individual may pay for this cops desire with his life.

If you’re not in uniform, call the police, it’s what you tell us to do.  Stop looking for problems and creating situations because you want to be a hero.  You wrongfully shot this man and honestly committed murder.  I’m sure since he’s a cop though they’ll let him walk free, they always do.
